Your story was a great help to me in deciding to do this surgery for myself. I have also returned to it when I've needed a little reminder of how things might progress during my recovery. I had my surgery, T2-L4 on April 2, so I am about 4 months out. I had a setback in that my top fused vertebrae fractured about a month ago. I am steadily getting back to where I was before that. You are so right about your frame of mind and positive thinking. Thank you for sharing your milestones!!
Watching this video makes me feel a sort of pride for this young man .... back when I had my first surgery to insert 2 Harrington rods and fuse my spine in 1983 I was in hospital for 6 months, then 1 year later my rods broke and my curvature came back with a vengeance. I happy this young man is doing so well keep up the great work
Ouch, that sounds rough with the setback. I am now something like 28 months post-op and I literally have had no issues. I have LOOKED for them and I can't find any, LOL. I am extremely physically active these days. I have put on about 35-40lbs of lean muscle, so I look very skinny and weak here. But I am doing 100%, wishing you the best. You will be fine. Good luck
David Lombardo I just had this surgery and I'm 6 days post OP. I'm having major abdominal and constipation issues. What was your strategy to clear it up and become regular
Hi there i got diagnosed with this condition when i was 14 i noticed it when i was in pain and had stiffness in my back after playing football. I started athletics that year and i lost around 2 stone and the pain seemed to stop, now that i have stopped athletics and put weight back on i have started getting pains and stiffness again. I would recommend to anybody to be extremely active and if you get pain carry on going and im sure it will benefit you. PS the surgery looks to have worked well :)
@AM4012 Hi I am 4 months post-op and I have no pain...I was in pain for a good 2 months..down to tylenol...then to nothing..but expect the pain to last at least 3 months..BUT it is very manageable. plus with a straight spine, you can deal!
@ultramarine1234 My curve was 72 degrees and it was corrected to about 45. However, it depends a lot on where the curve is on your back. Mine was very low; most people with kyphosis have a much higher 'hunch'. Best of luck, and if you have any more questions, feel free to message or comment me.
I'm 40 and have this, daily pain and sometimes no relief. I'm considering talking to someone here soon. I'm scared shitless none the less, I live alone without any help for the most part
Hey, I’m a 16-year-old about to have this surgery in less than a month!!! Your videos have helped me understand a little more about the process after the surgery. I have someone questions if you still check these comments lol, we’re you socially scared of what people think about your curvature? Also, what does your back feel like after the surgery? I appreciate you for documenting this, and maybe I’ll do the same for mine. Have a great day 🤙
David Lombardo: hey man, I am in great need of the surgery. However I am in the blue collar field, so I’m really curious as to how you are feeling now, especially because it’s been around 6 years since u had it done? Thanks.
Thank you for the video. I am going to have the surgery in a month. I am very active and I am worried about adjusting to being down for so long. How long after your surgery were you able to resume physical activity such as biking, running and lifting?
Which surgery did you have? What was it called? I've heard that the most effective one is the one where they go thru your chest and then thru your back.
I have Scheuermann's disease and have a surgery consult on Tuesday. How is your pain NOW? Is the recovery still going well? I know some people have good days, some bad days. Others have pain constantly and require additional surgeries.
Hi, my son, 18, is a week and a half post op. He has terrible pain sleeping in a bed at night, especially in the upper back around the shoulder area. Hes on hydro and muscle relaxers but still experiencing much pain. When can you expect the pain to subside enough that you can sleep well? thank you
he still experiencing pain occasionally but not like what he had before the surgery. His posture is greatly improved and flexibility is very good. he had to have the surgery because of the level of curvature that would eventually lead to compression on his lungs.
@@jeannieramberg4566 hope your son is doing well .. how many vertebrae were fused and whats the effect on mobility and flexibility specially in the first year
How do you feel to this day? I suffer from this condition on a day to day basis after being diagnosed in 2013. I have to lay down throughout the day to let my spine decompress and stretch out! I exercise regularly and get a lot of pain when I exercise. Overall are you happy that you had surgery. Many thanks look forward to hearing from you 👍
Hi, it's been over a decade and I feel great. I don't have any pain, and still do a lot of strength training 4-5x a week. I think that bodybuilding has significantly helped my body and has been a big part of why I don't have pain. Frankly the only time I ever am sore is usually if I sleep weird, but this is true for everyone. Often I forget I had the surgery! best of luck
@@shivaramjagasar562 best of luck to him. There's no easy way to put it: it's a long journey. But, each day gets better and each day you get a little stronger. Had this done way back in April 2011 and I'd do it again tomorrow without hesitation. Best decision of my life. I have no pain and my back is very muscular and built these days. Many people compliment me on it! Godspeed to him for a successful surgery and outcome.
@@DavidLombardohey .. I’ve just had my fusion from t2 to l3 before 2 weeks as you did .. everyday gets a little better,, but i am curious about how much mobility and flexibility would i lose after having this ? Specially that the fused section will be solidified
Doing amazing!! best thing I ever did. I look and feel awesome. In better shape than nearly everyone I know my age (33). I don't say this to brag - I workout a lot. But my back presents no issues.
0:34 "I have been on hydrocodone basically nonstop...and I'm still on it as we speak. Addiction is guaranteed to ensue. In fact, just yesterday, I pawned my mother's wedding ring for $150 to support my addiction. Hydrocodone, though fun, has singlehandedly been one of the most life-changing habits I've ev---..... zzzzzzzzzzzzzz"
