Schlage L Series grade 1 mortise optional key override feature allows exterior unlocking of the door even when the thumbturn is being held in a locked position.
So if some unhinged individual gains access to the keys to these deadbolts, knows how to pick locks, or has the master key there’s no protection anymore. Because of the fact that actually holding the deadbolt is a last resort and is a really bad idea, I think it would have been better and more secure to have a interior locking system that uses a key rather than a switch style deadbolt that won’t allow for the door to be unlocked from the outside if the key is inserted on the side being protected and locked down. I hate the reality of this scenario becoming more plausible as time goes on, but there’s nothing we can do to stop the avalanche we’ve started as a society so we have try to protect our children the best we can. This lock company has good intentions, but a half baked product that makes more sense in prisons rather than schools.
@@SevereMkII I don't know why you're forcing these dark scenarios. If there's a shooting, nobody's plan of action is "I'll physically hold the lock closed, that will stop the assailant!" The whole point is to prevent kids from locking teachers out of their own classrooms. It's still locking for anyone that doesn't have a key
