Stephen Wilson serves as the Campus Pastor for our Prison Ministries. Stephen and his team are committed to leaving the ninety-nine and finding the one who needs to find love and hope through a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. The prison team works diligently to find ways to reach men and women behind the walls of prisons and lead them in a path of forgiveness, redemption and restoration.Stephen grew up in Texas in a Christ-Centered home, and he committed his life to Christ when he was 7 years old. When he was 33, Stephen came to the realization that he had never completely surrendered his life to God. Through a radical transformation, Stephen submitted his life to following Christ and his calling to ministry.Stephen and his wife, Celeste, began doing prison ministry in 2008 through their own non-profit. They have always had a heart to reach the forgotten and point them to Christ. They joined Gateway in 2009, and immediately became a partner through Gateway’s Global Ministry in 2011. In 2019, Stephen came on staff to develop and implement an internal prison ministry at Gateway.Stephen has a BS in Human Biology from Texas Woman’s University, a MA in Discipleship Ministries from Liberty University’s School of Divinity, and a MJUR from Texas A&M University’s School of Law.Stephen and Celeste were married in 2007 and have 5 amazing kids, and several dogs.
