I'm a 51 year old man that's been doing this type of thing most of my life. I'm encouraged by you. There's hope for our future. By no means is this a sexist comment, so I hope it won't be received as such... but you're a young female, and this doesn't happen very often. You think you took a risk, and it's paying off. I'm looking into doing this myself. I'm watching all your vids as well as others to get ideas. I'm impressed by you. I mean this in my deepest sincerest thoughts. Keep going you're doing great!

If I were building it I would go to the lumber store (or lowes/Homedepot) and in the lumber department look for brackets and plates (metal hardware) to scew into the 2x4's to make those connections stronger. Ask the person in the department, they will put you in the right area.

I don't know why, but I just found you this morning. I have been watching bus conversion videos for a few years now. Anywho, I found you this morning and I'm wanting to tell you that you have become quite the carpenter. From your first video to this one I have seen you progress very well. I have a bus that I am wanting to convert also. But mine is a shorter bus. So why I'm going to continue watching your conversion videos to see how much better you become. Oh, I've also noticed that you are cuter when you get frustrated. So, take care and may Father YHVH God bless you on your travels.

HI Emma you're doing a great job of building as well as designing and you're not scared to try things I have been watching from ep1 and have enjoyed the process May I suggest you line the walls of the bedroom at least before going further with the bed. it is going to be difficult to do it after you have built everything you want into the room

Hey your bed looks great. Just a idea for you to think on that you may want to add to your travel bus is to put two slide locks on your two back doors on the inside of the bus so that way no one can open the doors from the outside when your stopped somewhere for the night when your traveling somewhere. And you may can add one on the front door as well.

Doing great Emma! So good to see someone doing a good job doing their best at something they are not a pro at. FYI, if you feel like the boards need more support then they sell metal framing hangers at Home Depot that cradle the boards and will hold up super strong
@0HARE
@0HARE 2 года назад
Really great work you did on this episode. Ya got that pocket hole screw jig down pat. I like the creative use of a loose board hammered to straighten a frame board. It’s cool to see your confidence and competence grow. Go For It
@jdsquared
@jdsquared 2 года назад
I swear if I filmed myself building my bus it would have looked exactly like this. Especially learning the kreg jig. Built my bed frame early too, then bought a full size stove. Which wouldn't fit through my front door. It was so difficult getting it up and over that bed frame alone through the back door. But worth it because I have a full five burner stove in my bus. I assume you're putting your water tank under the bed, and measured that it fits already? And I know you weight half what I do, but you probably want at least another two by four leg under those middle supports, they will start sinking on you.

@corvettedoc1
@corvettedoc1 2 года назад
Bed looks good so far but on the ends you may want to add some joist hangars for added strength once you start using it and have loads of weight in the middle. It will keep your boards from tearing the screws out of the ends on your long runs with no support in the middle.

Nice job on the framing. I think you should have done it in phases tho. Where’s your water tank going? If under the bed, can you get it in still without taking stuff apart? Battery bank? Will you have to install all that under the bed lying down? I think you should have run your plumbing and electrical first. Will be really hard to work around the bed now.

Put plywood on the underside of the 2x4's and instead of the slats use plywood and use a piano hinge along that back door wall you will have 3 1/2"s of additional hidden storage or add another 2x4 around the perimeter and have 7" of storage under the bed run electricity into to it and you can charge all your electronics out of sight

Hey, I’m worried about the two center joists. A few pocket screws on each end will fail over time between the weight of you and the bed and vibration of traveling. I’ve seen a few comments about adding joist hangers and you definitely need them. Go to Lowe’s or Home Depot and ask them for four joist hangers that will work for a 2x4.

You said about putting a big box under the bed, but when the box is full of your stuff it will be hardef to manage. I think 3 smaller box's would be so much better to manage and the middle box could be on runners that with a hinged top could also act as a desktop that would be accessed from outside.

Or don't have the courage to without having their hand held through life.. so be proud of what you've achieved and DONT STOP tackling things like this yourself! As with a bit of effort trial and error it will usually work out ok! (Unless it's something that could be dangerous obviously! Like gas and electric!) Hi Emma. You're really doing a great job on that bus. But I wonder about you're floor plan? Are you 100% sure of that plan? I just wonder so you will think twice just so you will be 100% sure about it, :D I work as a caravanbuilder at a company here in sweden and I know that most people have difficult to decide their plans in the end. I can recomend you to look at "Reboot Life" here on you tube and how they did their conversion. I really like their bathroom plan because it feels so much more space in the bus. And who knows mayby you can get some ideas for your bus? Anyway, I think you're doing a great work on that bus and I think you're so cool. I follow you all the way to the end.

thanks, I'll take a look! I know that this probably doesn't seem like the best floor plan in terms of maximizing small spaces. But it's really important to me that it has the sort of feeling I'm going for. Either way i will take a look! 😊
