This album was underwhelming coming off how great blank face was. Very disappointed in ScHoolboy Q after this. Similar to how great still Brazy by YG was yet stay dangerous was awful

THis was SO disappointing... NNJ and CrasH had me hype but... the rest was just average. Kid Cudi joint showed some ambition but it was too short.

The album was underwhelming. But schoolboy is entitled to have one of those in his catalog

I agree with y'all on this. Numb Numb Juice got me all hyped up for Q's album and I was honestly expecting something else totally. It was very lackluster imo

Schoolboy said that Blank Face was too dark. He wanted to have more fun on this album. Probably why there's not an abundance of tye aggressive Schoolboy we're used to.

Q said in a interview that he didn't give af how well Blank Face LP did critically and wanted numbers more than anything so I guess in that sense it makes sense why he went this route for Crash Talk.

ScHoolboy chased commercial success on this one, nothing wrong with that but you have to do it right. There was too many choices that didn't fit. You get the Travis Scott stimulus pacakge and got him saying nothing but "chopsticks", some of the production on the tracks sounded like metro boomin throwaways, and I wasn't feeling his rapping. There was nothing interesting going on here. Pretty disappointed but still got love for Q and TDE

I hope Tyler the Creator doesn't disappoint in a few weeks.

I believed he said that blankface was critically acclaimed and everyone loved it but his pockets and numbers didn't show. And those people who praised the music didn't show up to the shows. So he wanted to do something totally different and reach the ones that's gonna support to give him a #1 album.

The underselling of Blank Face made him insecure. I wasn’t impressed with this project but after seeing his interview with Charlemagne, made me understand more. I pray, he goes back in the studio n gives us a project sooner than later. I missed him. ✌🏾

I think he scrapped like 2-3 albums and kendrick & jay rock stepped in to help him finish the album plus i mean the man lost a best friend so that lack of energy is depression. I get the confusion you guys had but i think you were off with a lot of the reasoning. The album is good not great but i understand why it's so mellow

Ngl, I was so unimpressed with this album that I couldn’t even finish listening to it :/

He was missing that bite we normally hear from him. I enjoyed about half the album, but the other half just feels generic. Decent album, but disappointed for how long the wait was.

I feel like I'm in a weird spot with this album because I didn't like it after loving Blank Face but unlike others I didn't like Numb Numb Juice either and my favourite 3 tracks were Tales, Attention & a weird one in Dangerous and these aren't the aggressive ScHoolboy most people are asking for, I don't even feel like Q has to be extremely aggressive for me to like his stuff, it's more the flow & voice that bothers me in a lot of places here, hard to explain.

I'm very happy about your honesty in this video. To me, this is his least work and, what y'all complied, he sounds like everybody else. After listening it four times I realize that this album is unbalanced concerns of flow. He didn't use the creativity like in Blank Face LP. His performance there was monstrous. To Ken, I understand your acceptance but i"m with the rest of them: It was a let down, even though it didn't surprise me. I wish that y'all did your part in turns because some songs didn't being mentioned like Dangerous en Lies, especially Dangerous. Y'all opinion about Kid Cudi would've been very interesting. But some of your favorite tracks, I was like.... How SWAY. Songs like Gang Gang, 5200, Drunk en Floating are very mediocre for Q's doing IMO. Numb Numb Juice, Chopstix, Tales, Crash and Attention are mine. Again, thanks for your honesty and I looking forward to the next DEHH review. Peace from the Netherlands

Am I the only one that enjoyed this album? (Blankface was better but still...) This album had some nice tracks.

This album is the definition of acceptable. This album is not gonna last at all and it's going to be forgotten. The only memorable moments of this album for me was numb numb juice and 5200, and lies and chopstix were horrible honestly.

I 100% see how he said going for #1 could change the sound. Listen to Nevermind, it’s goal was to top charts and it was very clean sounding. Then listen to In Utero or bleach.

He definitely played it too safe imo and the production doesn’t really do him many favors. It’s like he wanted to make a more commercial album except the actual songs sound dated at this point. “Following the trend” is a great description for what seems like his mindset for this one. By no means a bad project but I’m more likely to go back to pretty much any of his other albums

This album should of been a mixtape in my opinion. And then he should've dropped the album his fans wanted afterwards. But I liked it, it was fun and enjoyable but nothing amazing.

I was just thankful to be alive & able to listen to this new album. You can't nail it every time, but maybe he was depressed or just wasn't feeling it. Especially feeling the way he felt after his close friend Mac passing.

I agree that this album didn't live up to what everyone was expecting. However, I feel the track Dangerous off the album was crazy. The drowned out beat, the smooth but haunting flows, Kid Cudi being blended into the track perfectly and the two singing/rapping over each other made for an awesome experience.

To say CrasH was underwhelming is a bit of a stretch in my opinion... the album was cool... couple of solid joints on there (GANG GANG, NNJ, WATER, CRASH, 5200, etc) ... and I dont get why people put Blank Face above Oxymoron... to me, OXY is HIS CLASIC LP.... but thats just me...

I didn’t even like Numb Numb Juice, so I didn’t come in expecting much, but after 2 listens I only really like one song. And that one song I only give like a 7-7.5/10

Q in an interview (I believe, Breakfast Club) illustrated he didn't want "depressing music" and rearranged this album a couple of times. My opinion, he could still be in grief over Mack & Nipsey. Depicting the energy of the album is unique, Q appears to want to be positive on all accounts and have no negative energy (which anger/passion can be confused for) and may have scrapped his original idea/s of the album.

This album was a huge disappointment. 3 year hiatus from Q. A lot happened in those 3 years and he didn’t reflect on any of it. Not much growth from Q. Generic beats. Weak lyricism. Weak features. No direction. No ambition. No Tde features. This album was a 5/10.

This album was a major disappointment, very weak effort in my opinion. ScHoolboy himself wasn’t terrible, in fact there were some cuts that took me back to Blank Face, but man the production drags everything else down, a lot of these beats are generic as hell. This comes out overall as just mediocre to me. Whatever I’m just ready for Tyler next Friday nothing else matters right now, and I’m really hoping Isaiah drops something.

Kinda knew they were going be disappointed. Album was too short and too commercial sounding. Played it multiple times though. Definitely isn't as good as his previous albums. If he wasn't gone for 3 years it wouldn't be as disappointing. Hopefully he drops something again before 3 years.

I agree Ken is right here imo. The album grows own you. Tales, crash, 5200, attention, black folk, gang gang are all stand outs to me. I would rate it a 7/10 which isn't bad at all.

Yea me being a schoolboy q fan myself I was disappointed myself hearing numb numb juice compared to everything else on the album I was disappointed don't get me wrong the album wasn't wack but knowing what schoolboy q is capable of this wasn't it I still fuck with q doe 💯

Schoolboy tried too hard to appeal to a younger audience with this one. He dumbed down his flows, lyrics, and chose more trendy trap beats. I'm really sureprised they didn't talk more about how AWFUL chopstixs was. This was a 6/10 at best for me

Considering the recent interviews in which Schoolboy Q has spoken on his issues with depression and anxiety, his views on how good Blank Face was as to how much it sold, and dealing with life in general... do you guys think his past mental state had a big influence on this album? I overall liked the album as well but did have some of the same feelings towards it that the cast had.

this was a insecure album if u ask me..not literally but the overall mission..in interviews he said blank face got critical acclaim but it didnt sell as much as oxymoron and tht upset him..so i think him and the label decided to play it safe and make a trendy album..and u can make a commercial album and it wont be trendy..oxymoron was commercial but it was fire..q using the aye flow like he uzi smh..chopstix smfh wow why?

The reason it sounded like the songs on the three parts were interchangeable is because he was remaking the same album 3 times but kept crashing on them until the last part

Decent album but it didn't top Blankface and definitely not Oxymoron!! I would've been more grateful if Alchemist produced one of his tracks...

All the albums from TDE are underwhelming to me...DAMN, Redemption and now CrasH Talk. I feel like they are losing their edge.

I loved it personally but everything u said about him kind of holding back with delivery makes a lot of sense. U guys have very clear heads and are able to tell when something is of quality but either not for you or just dissapointing compared to other shit.

The album sounds like it should have came out 3 years ago. Any other rapper could have made this album it it would be ok,good, decent but in Schoolboys discography it just exists and that’s all I can say. instead of following trends he should be setting them and I’ll be fine with him trying something new.

Drunk feels like a Damn left over track that Schoolboy was handed to get that sort of feel for this album. I think Drunk is one of the worse songs on the album.

Gotta watch Q's interviews to understand why he went this direction with the music. I hope he does go through all the motions needed to recover his mental health, as he stated he's been depressed. This project was very mainstream catering and disappointing, but I understand now after listening to him. Its my least favorite project. Hope the album is commercially successful even though I don't like it, at least that'd somewhat help pick him up. Oxymoron > Blank Face > Habits and Contradictions > Setbacks > CrasH Talk

I agree with Ken, Schoolboy is an evolving artist and I think this is his most balanced album to date in terms of the different type of songs he can do.

When I heard Numb Numb Juice and Crash I just knew we were in for a real treat. Then I heard that Chopstix and said, oh boy. I was underwhelmed overall. I wanted another Blankface LP and I feel I got another trendy rap album.

Q already gave me one of my favorite lyrical albums of the decade with Blank Face. This new record has some gems on it with Gang Gang and a couple others. Overall I don't mind it but I can see why it disappointed some people. It didn't feel as experimental which is what I prefer with more talented artists.

Yeah very dissappointed in the album. So much shit Q couldve disccused in the album. His daughter getting older, Mac passing, Nipsey passing. The shit sound he put it out JUST to put it out. Numb Numb Juice was the best record on there.

The high of Blank Face was so high that this album seem bland. While this is not a bad album, it is an okay album and it was for sure a disappointed project. Man this hurts a bit

my biggest question to anybody who sees this is,was anybody putting expectations on this album before it came out? because im reading alot of comments and that's what it sounds like. when you do that especially with an artist who takes their time putting projects out your going to be disappointed. I know it's going to be hard but practice not expecting things.
