You can customise the fit at no cost to yourself. Go into your dealer and they should do it free of charge. Schuberth only made two sizes, the customisation of internals is why. Try it, you won't be disappointed.

@@neilbancroft1132 No no no. You can only customize certain sizes. And the size S which I wear is not one of them. Also I refuse to wear an L sized shell on my S sized head. That is the issue I have. No amount of customization will change the fact that I would have wear on my head something that is a lot larger than it needs to be. Just because Schuberth are to cheap to manufacture a $700 helmet in more than 2 shell sizes.

@@MrFerisko not according to what I've experienced in the UK. Mine fits perfectly. Changed a few of the interior pads until I was happy. I have both the E1 and E2. Best helmets I've worn and I've worn/used many of them.

If they have this helmet in europe why is there no ECE rating for the US? Do they have two separate models with one being safer in europe?

The chinbar lock is rather flimsy. I wouldn't really trust it

Correct Diego, although in the US we don't call it a dual-homologation button since DOT does not have 2 tests for open / full face. So we just refer to it by its function - locking the chin bar in the upright position which isn't something the US tickets for. Thanks for watching!

​​@@user-jm8ky1kn2t it's because there are different models made of each helmet for Euro and USA to meet different standards. DOT is an ancient trash standard. That info comes straight from Schuberth.

The memory on my e2 works every time. I got one imported a few weeks ago

@@starfish7679 They tend to work when new. Give it a couple months. The mechanism gets looser and then the visor does not hold in open position. Then it's warranty time, otherwise riding over small bump closes it for you every time :o)

The Schuberth Euro and USA helmets are now all different. It's not a good test to compare the Euro model to the USA version any more.

Yeah, shame that brands like Shoei / Schuberth and some others just ditch it when they come into the US. Not for all models, but usually the Modulars get the short-end of the stick

UK based here, is it not safe to assume the US version of these helmets meets ECE22.06 like the one we get in Europe? If not that's a shame!

​@@Geshmaal Some guys complain that they don't even qualify but it's not that they can't. They just don't because they get qualified by our own standards. Which may not be as good a standard. But it's all they need for u.s. sale. If they sell a helmet with ece in some markets but not others, it's just a marketing thing. Has nothing to do with the safety functionality. Takes a whole 5 min of research to figure out if a helmet meets standard even if it isn't stickered in the u.s. as such.

@@Geshmaal That's a great question. Are there any differences in materials or manufacturing? I've worked in compliance, and I know that many companies resent the cost of testing and evaluation by a certified test lab. The lab will want to evaluate all sizes and configurations across all models, so it really adds up. But it's also inefficient to run two separate manufacturing operations for each model, so... If it meets ECE requirements for Europe, my guess it's the same product in the US and they just decided not to pay for the additional tests and reports.

I have the C4 pro carbon and no, that's not the only place.

Appreciate the breadth of the products they review. The depth and testing could be updated to a more objective level

Schuberth just installs all the same material, country of origin, etc tags in their helmets at the factory. And small goggles will work with this lid, but nothing with an oversized goggle frame (ie 100% Racecraft / Armega, Leatt 6.5 etc)

I'm no Johnnie Lawfollower myself, but just FYI if you bought it from Europe (CB) that helmet is not legal for use on public roads in the US. No DOT sticker = illegal

Love the idea, and its one we thought of doing a few times but we run into the same issues as helmet manufacturers do: it wouldn't really provide results that customers can experience out on the road. Schuberth does their dB rating tests, but always follows it up with the * after that says "only on our bike, at our speed, with our rider, in our wind tunnel, on X bike" bc the test isn't something most riders will be able to replicate. Definitely a good idea, but not something that is large-scale and will benefit most riders (not just those that Geek out on dB ratings of standardized tests like you and I). Champion does a decent test if you're curious on comparisons, but its not perfect. I head up the product testing for ZLA and even though I think the "all the RevZilla resources" is flattering for our small team over here ha, I'd rather take the time / budget and run out into real world situations are bring that feedback into our reviews. We were out in the Mojave desert for the Get On ADV Fest last week and had this helmet out testing around which was great. Appreciate the comments F, feel free to keep them coming. Always happy to chat products and reviews etc. 🤙 ** add on BTW - we are referring to road noise (real life application) being subjective since it depends on rider's arm length, windshield height, torso length, bike, bike aero, speed, etc - we aren't suggesting that dB's are somehow subjective. Just the way riders experience them have too many factors to label it one or the other.

I understand that individual’s perceptions can change however the point of performing scientific/objective tests is both to fact check the manufacturers and be able to have consistent comparisons between helmets. This is the same as with headphones or earphones. Each persons perceptions can be different however when they are all tested to the same standard they can be compared with one another. A person can say ok I have this shoei helmet, revzillas tests had it at this decibel and the frequency response was this. They can then take that information and understand how another helmet might compare. Your tests might differ from the manufacturers but if you test out all your helmets consistently people can use your videos and resources as comparisons between one another. It is not about riders being able to replicate it. I understand that in person testing is much more fun for your team however an investment in to some objective tools should be considered a priority at this point in your companies lifecycle. Same with waterproofing, same with abrasion tests. They do not have to supplant your subjective tests however they should be supplementing them for a full picture. Testing equipment is a one-time cost for a continuous and permanent step up in the quality and content of your review videos. Seriously, I would like to see you guys grow more and continue to help the community. You should be able to pool your resources with cycle gear to get the equipment and post the data on both your sites and have it at their stores for research

@@patrickmchugh8039 I think though that as riders we know a common quiet helmet be it arai/shoei/schuberth etc. and as riders the revzilla team would have probably used a lot of helmets. Therefore an opinion such as " I have tried a lot of helmets and on the same bike in relatively the same conditions this helmet is quieter than a "insert helmet here " but not as quiet as " insert helmet here ". is super helpful. I mean same person + same bike + same relative conditions they are going to notice a difference and have an opinion. Right now I am none the wiser as to if this is a quieter ( based on the testers experience ) helmet or not. I can only go by a db measurement which is in itself fraught with problems as to how it was tested and what type of db was measured etc. What is acceptable quiet or not, is not the question. The question is how quiet is the helmet compared to other helmets to that tester. But that might sit on the fence of favourable bias which as a store essentially you cant do... daamn dont want your job ! Thanks for taking the time to come out and actually talk about that side of the testing regime.

@@theobviouschicken For sure, always happy to chat testing and products. Something to keep in mind is that we do try and give our opinion on "not very loud", "slightly loud", "average noise levels" during every helmet - we just don't call out other models (unless talking about the replacement helmet which we try to mention) like a leader board. Honestly, we shoot nearly a hundred new helmets a year so there isn't really any official leader board and the tough part is: What Spurgeon or Brandon find to be a loud helmet, I might find to be quiet and vice versa. Or Brandon and I might love a helmet's sound levels but Spurgeon didn't, etc. There are so many variables based on experience that its really just getting as many miles into it and forming our opinion. I think a lot of people expect some scientific process (which I'm sure is feasible from someone with endless cashflow), but we just give professional-based opinions having all ridden in 1000s of helmets over our tenure at ZLA. Hopefully that helps a bit, I'm always monitoring the RU-vid comments section of our videos too if you ever have questions. 🤙

I don't personally think it would be us and it would likely be a overseeing body like the EU or the brands themselves that pool the capital to standardize test things across the board (like the abrasion testing you mentioned which is tested by the EU via the Darmstadt machine). Having the data would certainly be cool, and I implore anyone interested in it to pursue it and maybe create their own RU-vid channel going after it. I'll chat with the team to see if we can improve the information we call out in videos though, maybe something that will help most riders out there without just tossing data out there. We're correcting the product page now which is a typo - just like the last 2-3 generations of Schuberths here in the US - the E2 is indeed DOT only.

Correct, this has been the case for a few generations of Schuberth, believe the last ECE was the C3 generations. Same with the Shoei Neotec 2 and GT-Air 2 etc. Some HJCs as well.

I don't know about "scummy", but it's what they have been doing for 2 generations of helmets at this point. Same with brands like Shoei and HJC etc, although sometimes they change the name of the helmet (usually when SNELL requires it though). They are just building the helmets to the standards of the host-country so in the end, its really the DOT's fault for being archaic.

@@patrickmchugh8039 DOTs fault? Buying a safer ECE helmet cheaper than a Revzilla DOT Ebay lid shoukd come down to personal choice. DOT is the minimum, and it should be changed, but personal choice buys the ece.

@@LexGrossmansDog I blame DOT, especially in this instance, because they haven't updated their standard in decades. So brands have to conform to it to make things LEGAL to sell in the US. Y'all can buy whatever you want from wherever with whatever standard your heart desires. I'll only recommend whats legal to do in the US though, which is a DOT helmet if riding on the road. Technically you can blame Schuberth too if you wanted, but they are also just making a helmet that they are legally allowed to sell in the US. They can either make a DOT / ECE helmet that is all around not great for their biggest market (EU), or just make a DOT specific model with the US's requirements for our smaller market. Blame whoever you want, do whatever you want. You're an adult and freedom is free

ECE is not a safer helmet. Look at the test requirements. DOT is slightly heavier because it require two impacts in the same place vs ECE only requiring one. Both helmets are safe and will protect your head. But to make a comment that isn’t supported by the facts is just nonsense.
