It's been a bit since I've done a book haul video. And in this one, there are a few good finds, a few classic reads, and a few spur-of-the-moment buys. Check it!

I’ve read about half of these and Permutation City, Spin, and Sea of Rust were my favourites. And I’m glad you enjoyed More Than Human, I thought it was excellent!

Yes. It was a great change of pace. The book, had a few problems, but overall it was a fabulous read! I really connected with the protagonist plate and imagined myself trying to survive inside a whales stomach…

What a great book haul! I think you will enjoy both The Day of the Triffids and Seveneves. Both are great first books to read by significant authors. I really enjoyed Sea of Rust by Cargill. Plan to reread sometime to make a video for the channel. I did make one for the prequel called Day Zero. Described it as Calvin and Hobbes meets Terminator 2. BTW, thank you for the channel mention!

I moved away from CO recently and I miss 2nd and Charles! Luckily, there is a store called Half Priced Books in my new state! Nice finds!

Thanks! I’m in Boulder, there is a 2nd & Charles in nearby Broomfield. They have an excellent science-fiction selection!

I agree with Richard, Triffids and Seveneves are both excellent (and in my top 10 fave books). I'd like to read Spin too. I like PFH and those books are great (although many dislike his writing).

That’s awesome to hear. I’m looking forward to reading both. As for Hamilton, I’m just a little bit worried about the length of these books… I think that if a book has 1000 pages it has to have a payoff significantly greater than a 300 page book. So my expectations from a BIG book are that much higher, as I value my time 😂

I recently just got most of John Wyndham's books so I'm super excited for them. The Chrysalids and The Midwich Cuckoos are other ones he is know for. Science Fiction with a twist of horror, my favorite.

I’m really excited to start reading Wyndham’s books as well. Somehow, his works have eluded me thus far. I’m going to start Triffids today. 👍

I have had sea of rust on my tbr for a long time but for some reason have not made any time for it. I also have not read ancillary justice yet

Sea of Rust was not a book I was even looking for, but I was excited when I found it waiting for me on the bookshelf! Ancillary Justice on the other hand, I’ve been looking at for a while. I’m guessing you’ll have a lot more time for SF books now that you’re almost finished with the whole Cosmere! 🙌

Highway to Eternity is probably not Simak's best. Triffid's is great, read it a few months ago, highly recommended. Sea of Rust is one I got recently and might give it a go, sounds pretty good. I have that exact copy of Golden Helix, love Sturgeon so will be reading it in the future. Nice mix of books, great video Bart.

Great book haul! The majority of these books I've never heard of before. Happy to see classic sci-fi books getting some love too. Did you read all the Southern Reach books?

Hi. I’m finishing Acceptance and at the same time reading Empire of Silence. Southern Reach trilogy is so original in its character. Haven’t read anything else like it!
