I’ll be honest, I expected Fred to start dressing up as a ghoul and haunting people to go full circle.

I respect how easily Shaggy accepted his fate.

It's funnier when you remember that Fred's family is also very well off, and he still goes out of his way to solve mysteries for next to nothing lol.

Fun fact: According to pretty much any Scooby canon, Shaggy's family is rich and Shaggy was actually _funding_ the entire operation.

Perhaps the real villain was the money we didn't make along the way

Fred isn't completely useless though. His expertise in making extravagant traps could get him a decent job in the animal hunting business

I love the insinuation that Scooby Snacks were an addiction that Shaggy is getting over.

Fred realising he is bankrupt and only then suffering the negative consequences is basically the equivalent of the cartoon character floating above a chasm until they look down.

I loved the detail of Shaggy having his outfit and design from Shaggy and Scooby-Doo Get A Clue! Nice touch.

Honestly, I've always wondered if the Mystery gang was ever got paid for solving cases and unmasking monsters? Glad Im not the only one who thought about this

I love the fact that in the original series, they never outright said how the gang made money. Specifically, that they were subsidized by Shaggy and Daphne's wealthy families, who could afford to let their college age kids bum their way all over the country doing God knows what. To their credit, they did live relatively simply (Scooby and Shaggy's outsized appetites aside) and were civically minded enough that they would help others in need, but much of it came down to the fact that half the team didn't really want for money. Also, credit to the late 90s Cartoon Network movies for actually having them finally build a business model around their passion. A TV show centered on paranormal investigation and debunking hoaxes was the logical outgrowth of their strange hobby, though in retrospect probably would not have caught on before the 90s, when shows like that started to become popular.

On the case of the ending, Shaggy is an athlete. Fred is a malnourished homeless man. I feel like Shaggy ain't the one losing his kidneys in that situation...

It truly must take the discipline of a fashion god for Fred, while being completely homeless to keep that ascot perfectly clean and tidy.

The subversion of you expecting Fred to deny he lives in the box only for him to instead specify it's a rental is genuinely top tier writing. Of course on top of the joke that he has to _rent_ a _cardboard box._

Canonically, Fred is the child of millionaires. He's been pouring his family's money into his "corporation" for years.

With all the traps Fred has built through the years, he could have made an escape room business or something

I’m so glad somebody remembered that Shaggy is an athlete. Now they stereotype him as a slacker, or do the stereotypical weed joke. Shag was A high school track star, and that’s the reason he was so skinny and hungry all the time, that’s also why he was used as bait so often, because the gang believed him to be the fastest and that there was no way any ghost, ghoul, or specter would catch him.

I love the touch that Shaggy says he going to take his KIDNEYS (plural) and Fred says Yes. Meaning Fred going to straight up kill him.

Canonically both Shaggy and Daphnes family are filthy rich. Either could have paid for all that mystery junk/ helped Fred at any time but actively chose not to.

Shaggy's return to Athletics is the deepest reference to the very first episode of "Scooby-Doo, where are you!", "What a Night for a Knight", where Daphne mentions that Shaggy is the best gymnast in school.

I love how Velma not knowing what to do is enough for Fred to realise they're screwed.

Now I’m just imagining an IRS agent chasing Shaggy and Scooby through a hallway full of doors.

I love that Shaggy is such a good person. Instead of going home to rest, he prefers to help Fred in his situation, and when he knows that Fred tricked him into taking his kidney, he simply accepts it. Truly a Chad.

Fun fact in the very first movie Scooby-Doo on Zombie Island it actually shows how their lives would be when they stop hunting ghosts Daphne as she's rich it's pretty much the one who's the most set she gets her own talk show and has Fred as her personal agent Velma works as a librarian and Scooby and Shaggy jump from job to job because they can't really keep one for various reasons and they all pretty much think it's boring

With the athletic skills Shaggy got, he outran Fred and dialed the police. Fred hijacked 3 cars after the Mystery Machine ran out of gas before the police tased his ass and charged him with operations of organ selling. Fred received 6 years and dropped the soap in prison.

In mystery incorporated, they fought Cthulhu, not just the guy in that suit, but also an actual cosmic being that was mentally manipulating everyone into doing crimes via costumes and teams of 4 teenagers and a talking animal sidekick who would tear each other apart over pieces of a golden disk, also, Scooby is the descendant of aliens, no joke, this is canon

You know, I actually really love Velma in forensics and Shaggy as a high school gym coach, those seem like really fitting and fun jobs for those characters

considering Shaggy's now a fitness teacher and Fred's homeless I doubt he got far in the attempt to steal his kidneys

It’s kinda funny because it’s theorized that in the Scooby Doo universe, the economy is going through a huge recession, thus budget cuts in government sectors and economic hardship has caused people to do some kinda whacky stuff. I mean especially when you consider some of the tech some of these guys had at their disposal that could net them way more potential profit than their original goals.

You know you think with how good he is at making really complex traps, Fred could get a job as an engineer.

This is the most I've seen Fred and Shaggy interact 1-on-1. It's odd how closely they stick to their formations to the point certain characters hardly even acknowledge each others' existence

Now for the sequel where fred uses his experience with fake ghosts schemes to pull his own fake ghost scheme.

Daphne's family is literally a dynasty in and of itself, same with Fred, shaggy and Velma are literally the only poor ones

Perfect ending. Speaking of, I guess in the end, Fred did manage to solve one mystery to Shaggy, the case of the organ stealing ghost.

Man I love this reference to the original Scooby-Doo where Shaggy was a school athlete when it came to gymnastics and running. A lot of newer adaptations forget that detail.

The end started a bit wholesomely, i should have known it wouldn't continue like that...

The way Fred goes "Guys any ideas?" and immediately goes panic mode when just Velma says she got nothing.

Fred stated he had lost enough blood from the gang bangers to black out. Since he's broke we can easily assume he hasn't been eating well(or maybe at all) so he's most likely still weak. Shaggy has a job and therefore has definitely been eating his fair share. He'll be fine.

If we talking about “Scooby doo” back when they were making movies, Velma alone prolly gets government grants considering all the side projects she’s a part of (high tech Ai, Egyptian archaeology digs, rocket science ect.) also I’m pretty sure she writes about her adventures as part of a mystery novel series. Daphni is rich+models from time to time, Pretty sure Fred does mechanic stuff like Automobile And shaggy doesn’t really need a high income so just prize money from food contests maybe?

Seems that when they mention things, it's one of the gang's parents that funds everything, and this is all a hobby depending on the continuity. The only time in the franchise where they specifically have Fred charge for their services is A Pup Named Scooby-Doo. And even then it's like the kind of money a kid from the 50's would charge.

The egg basket analogy really hits hard for me. I spent ages 10-17 studying, learning and really focusing on biology, science, psychology, and literature. And then at 17-18 all of a sudden my interest drastically changed and I realized I did not want to do anything involving what I was good at. So yeah, the last few years have been spent meandering, lost and unsure of what I want to really do. Just lost and confused with college level knowledge of a myriad of scientfic subjects and no desire to use it.

I like how this video sparked discussions on which versions of the Scooby gang had rich family members.

I vaguely remember an episode where they solved a mystery at the Scooby Snack factory, and got rewarded with a lifetime supply of Scooby Snacks.
