Legends Arceus players: Challenge accepted. Edit: Ironically since I got Pokémon Violet, I’ve been taking advantage of the weekly link-trade giveaways Blaines has been doing, and I just got a SHINY arceus. So although I technically didn’t catch him, considering how busy that giveaway was I’m still considering it an achievement that I at least managed to RECEIVE God in a ball, especially since he’s SHINY.
@@Zach-804 I mean I know it's one of the most known jokes about the Pokémon series but I actually don't really care about his age The Simpsons don't age for example, and nobody cares about that much

The funny part about the "catch God" part is that Arceus explains in Legends that the Arceus you get after the end of the final boss is only a relatively weak manifestation of him, or a tiny part of his power as he explains it. Also, given real world history, the Pokemon version of Christmas is probably dedicated to a different legendary, probably Xerneas.
Yeah in the canon ,there are Avatar of Arceus in the world ,one for each type (But they can still change type at will) . Also : How can the Pokedex know that Arceus have a thousands arms ,if it never seen the real deal.

With real world history, lots of cultures had a celebration during the winter solstice. Christianity just coopted it to make it easier for non-christians to adopt their religion. Many of us in the Northern hemisphere would be celebrating something akin to Christmas at the winter solstice if Christianity never existed.
I think the true Arceus is the literal videogame itself. Afterall, a true god would be a bunch of 0s and 1s compressed into digital code that the average player doesn't understand. And on top of that, most fans know more lore than the creator themselves. So what even is Arceus? It is us. We are Arceus.
I think it was because mew was more mythological than anything, and mewtwo was created by the dna left in fossil remnants of mew, rather than a living mew. But Mew Appeared after mewtwo did, so it's labeled that way, because that's it's formal discovery time? I guess? lol
@@ardin543210 But, by that logic they discovered Bulbasaur first... Despite Bulbasaur being rare and rattatta's and pidgey's being everywhere... Yeah, it just makes no sense once you put some thought into it.
I love how Ash is basically a representation of the fandom constantly asking new questions and questioning every decision GameFreak makes with each new generation, like the fact that Paldea can just come into existence out of nowhere and no one in the Pokémon universe questions it is amazing.
That's what I want from Game Freak. A canonically accurate globe showing how much of the planet has been allocated via regions. Because from the very beginning, it being confirmed in gen 1 which has real world references like "South America", "China", "Mt. Everest", Pokemon takes place on earth. It's difficult to picture it proportionally. For example I read somewhere that Unova is essentially the size of New York state buuut, I also read Galar is supposed to represent the entirety of the British Isles.
Or alternatively they were a region on the other side of the great war hundreds of years ago and nobody talks about it because they are still in an almost "Cold War state"
I think every Pokémon region we’ve yet to see already exists in universe, they’re just not mentioned cause gamefreak hasn’t gotten there yet, so they don’t really suddenly pop into existence, so it’s just a meta “don’t worry about it”. Plus sometimes not yet to be named regions are mentioned, SV mentions quaxly is from another region, we don’t know what region but we know he’s from somewhere, same with Eiscue.
"God is nothing but an animal, Ash. Reality as we know it was conceived by thoughtless instinct. You must usurp heaven, Ash. There can be no higher power then you."
1:00 (Discovers there's a minimum of 100 new unique pokemon per region) (Discovers there's roughly 9 regions) *Proceeds to ask if there's 400 pokemon to catch* This aspiring pokemon master is most certainly a drop out
According to Ash in the series finale, being a Pokemon Master means being friends with every Pokemon in the world, which is arguably an even more sisyphean effort than just catching em
That's just a cop out because Ash never really completed the actual goals of a Pokemon Master - catching all the Pokemon and winning each Pokemon League. (Alola counts about as much as The Orange Islands imo). Ash should have just won the Kalos league and been done with it. It's been said to death but that would have been a much better wrap up than what people got.
My theory is that Ash is locked in an Eternal Stasis where everyone around him (including himself) can never age. I think it all started after Ash’s Vow since that was the last we heard of him having a birthday party, he can’t ever complete his mission and never die happily.
MULTIPLE gods, if you count legendarys, lord helix, snom, every single version of quagsire and wooper, furret, and whatever else is currently meme-relevant
I'm always flabbergasted by the "new pokemon designs are lazy" tbh because gen 1 had "Pokeball with eyes" and "Pokeball but flipped with eyes and mouth" or "pile of purple goop" or "bigger pile of goop" or "actual goldfish with a horn" but also that's just an actual fucking flamingo

They gotta move on from Ash. First, Ash has had enough of a harem already. Second, I think it's just time. Even YGO would change protagonists every time the series got rebooted. I don't see why Pokemon can't do something similar and Ash is just "King of Monsters" in the future shows or some shit.

The real Canon is that his mom just wanted him out of the house for a few hours so she could get railed. She thought he'd get bored and give up by dinner time.

While new Pokemon ideas are dumb, we can't act like "pile of magnets", "snake backwards", "pile of sludge", "BIGGER pile of sludge", "not a Pokeball", "not an upside-down Pokeball", "not a pigeon", "not a sparrow", "not a bat", and "some dude's pet rock" are really the peak of creativity. Pokemon designs have always been bad, they haven't gotten worse over time, they just lack the nostalgia factor.
I'm saying this more as an a former artist Abe not as a pokemon fan my freind. I agree with your main point tho I'd argue that it's not that they were always bad but not every design is going to be iconic when you got to make hundreds of pokemon
@@somedorkydude6483 I also would like to say that in general, they started being very weird in coloring since like Alola. But not just the colours itselves, but also the design, which makes it out of place to put very colorful pokemon alongside simpler designs of Kanto and Johto, which were made to just have 2-3 colors (+black and white). Dude just compare Lopunny and Diggserby to Cinderace, the entire Scoorbunny line looks like some knockoff (which looks good) that doesnt know if it wants to be like pokemon, digimon, or whatever Also, Sprigatito is the worst looking starter, sorry but that yucky green coloring is usually just for ugly shinies. At least Grookey has some brown.
Honestly I think only gen 1 has done some repeated pokemon evolutions (Magneton and Dugtrio. Dodrio at least has the heads with a different design and a tail), apart from Deino getting an extra head first Also nonsensical evolutions (Golem looks completely different from Graveler, same could be said for Dragonite, and maybe for Fearow and Hypno. Venomoth and Butterfree appear to be swapped)
I can tell this was made from the heart. I bet every single word spoken was a part of some massive pent up anger over the years. I applaud in almost disturbed respect.
0:38 the reason for this, I assume, is because hisui is in the past, and therefore ash would need arceus, dialga, or celebi to help him get there, but still has its own unique Pokémon so that’s why he said ash needs to go to 9 other regions, but he only names 8.
I thought you just became one by beating the region's champion..... ...And seriously where do Frontier Brains fall on the skill scale. I remember reading Frontier Brains were more difficult than even the Elite Four...... Which would mean Frontier Brains are VERY close to Champion trainer level.

@@shinken6636 I really didn't mean to call him out or insult him. I just wanted to point out that there have always been at least some lazy pokemon designs like that.
I think we have to appreciate how every Pokemon video on this channel starts lighthearted, then there are some minor allusions to the inconsistencies in the world, then in one line everything immediately spirals out of control into philosophical commentary and existential crises.
Even as a kid I knew that ash was never going to catch every Pokemon because he kept letting them go for sentimental reasons and would never take easy opportunities to catch pokemon. There was one time I recall in an early episode where Pikachu knocked out a dozen or so zubats and even Brock caught one but Ash just didn't even think about it.
@@lykos2738 Maybe not all the movies? The pokemon black and white movies where Ash could be either the hero of ideas or the hero of truth(and the title that he didn't get goes to a different guy) are two different paths. So.......different timelines. Also, it does bring some issues when later in the Unova series, ash meets N, who is the hero of truth. Either way, we could say that the movies and the anime follow their own separate timelines.
@@lykos2738 Eh, Ash not catching legendaries is super understandable. They are all depicted as being significant to either the entire world, or just a specific part of it. Like, in that one movie with Latios and Latias? He could have easily caught one of them, but they were the guardians of an entire city or something so he didn't. If trainers in the pokemon anime went around catching every legendary they saw, their world would collapse in like a week. That's why Tobias was so sus. Which city's guardian did he steal when he captured Latios? We don't know because he was just a hilariously shitty plot device to make sure Ash doesn't even get to Cynthia for some reason.

Nope, ash himself said that becoming the champion is only part of becoming the pokemon master. And he himself has no eefing ideia on how to "end" his own objective of becoming a pokemon master because that is a made up title that he made up himself.
@@clyax113 You may be thinking of when he won the Alola league, but no, that made him a champion but not a Master. And @Hetares Gaming almost no one agrees on that anymore, in fact, the tagline was dropped in gen 3 and Game Freak completely abandoned any pretense of that as of gen 8 when you literally can't catch every pokemon in 1 game anymore.

Well, Seel is just an example, Gen 1 has a ton more pokemon with lazy designs (Ekans and Arbok are just snakes, Krabby and Kingler are just crabs, Horsea is just a seahorse) and there is a bunch of evolutions that are "the pokemon but more" (Pidgeot barely changes from Pidgeotto, Dugtrio is just 3 Digletts, Magneton just 3 Magnemite, Dewdong is a prettier Seel, Electrode is just Voltorb upside down, etc) I do think Flamigo is on the lazier side of designs but that has always been a thing with pokemon
I remember how mind blown I was finding out Ekans was snake backwards lol. Such a simple fix to lazy naming. I mean, it actually sounds like a cool name backwards. Sort of a Alucard/Dracula kind of thing. And Arbok = Cobra (but with a “K”).

In their defense, the Pokedex seems to have been popularized by Oak, so the global system ends up following the order of Pokedex introductions (like how Oak gives the Pokedex to Gold/Ethan three years later in Johto). Even in Paldea the director mentions how he used to do pokemon research by paper before developing the Pokedex app much later. Also, Ash should not be surprised at all about Pokemon being created when Porygon exists.
@@Nerdnumberone it makes sense (in the perspective of R/B/Y at least) if numbering is order of discovery; mew gets 151 because it was the most recent to be discovered; mewtwo got 150 for being created very shortly before the start of the game; the dratini line gets 147-149 because (according to the pokedex entry for dratini) they were also just discovered recently; then before that is the legendary birds, snorlax, the fossil pokemon, and porygon, which all either were canonically or can very easily be assumed to have been found/created in the last decade or so it really seems like the original intent was that pokemon were numbered as they were discovered or created, and that was just kinda abandoned with G/S and onwards
