I have a little problem: I have a Piaggio Zip Base 50 ( before 1998 ) and in it I have a performance variator ( probably 6-7g rollers ), Leovince Touring exhaust, dellorto 17,5mm carb, Polini 90 air filter and an unlimited CDi. After looking through everything and taking of all of the restrictions, it still doesn't go faster than 40 km/h. Is there anything I can do to improve my top speed without spending money on a cylinder kit, clutch or similar?
I would recommend checking your jetting, failing this I would recommend a compression test to assess the health of the piston and rings. Particularly on an old scooter, it is common for the rings to be gummed in place, reducing compression and power. Also is the exhaust derestricted?
@@scooterstreetau my main jet is an 85, anything lower results top end lack of fuel. And no, we took of the exhaust and found the restriction in the header and took it off. For the sake of it we tried a friends Yasuni R and it was excellent, so im thinking maybe to get a performance exhaust.
Has it been tuned? Has the transmission be tuned and the parts replaced? This scooter will need a complete overhaul and tune of the carby and the transmission also test the squish prior to running. C16 usually requires a higher class cylinder.. check the rear pulley and make sure it has the correct action and not worn or damaged.
HI, I have a 150cc, it seems to start and idle fine, but after about 10min of riding and if you go open throttle, the bike seems to enter a lean or fuel starved condition, it will start to bog and then stall, wait 10secs, it starts up again, but then will sputter and bog then stall again, Ive replaced, carb, cdi, plug, battery, coil, vaccum petcock, fuel lines,,,same thing happens,,,HOWEVER, I noticed that from the gas tank(under the floor boards) to the petcock there are big bubbles of air many times in that line,,SHOULD there be air in that fuel line?,,I am thinking that may be the issue, why would this be happening, and how could I fix it? TY for your video
Yes well possibly an air leak in the system. Check the manifold and all rubber connection hoses. If there is cracks or perish in any rubber than air will leak in and lean off the fuel system. Do a thorough check..
ive got a Yamaha aerox 50cc and it used to go 50mph but ive just put a racing exhaust on and it struggles to get to 40 do you know what the issue could be
I have a malaguti f12 and when I start it i give it full throttle and it dosn’t have power to go faster than 5kmh. And it takes about 2 seconds to accelerate I changed the reed valves and rollers I don’t know what else could be. Can zou help me?
@@aerox-70cc Cleaning the carb does nothing if something is broken or out of setting. Change the spark plug and look for broken rubber around the air box and carb manifold. seek help from local Mechanic..
Hello Sir you are my last resort, my scooter was running perfect, after a rain back home, next day, turn on easily revs high but doesnt move, i try, new spark plug, change cdi box, checked all the cvt clucth and variator, belt all good, check magnetic flywheel seen fine , since she starts revs high but doesnt move, looks like symptons of over rich but umpossible since she was riding perfect before that rain, a total mysteri to me, any advice or idea you have come across something like this, i can just assume that as the rain, but stange, best regards
@@scooterstreetau yes rotating normal. Good compression, cvt looks all good, rollers , clucth its not bitting , but i checked all the springs are good,
@@scooterstreetau i checked everithing piston, rings, bore, changed spark plug bobine, plug old cdi, checked all the cvt stuff , belt springs variator, took exhaust sytem a part nothing block it. During rain i had 2 cables exposed the electric choke on the handlebard and minimun maximum swicth as i was on the process of turning it naked.
My speedfight 4 gets only half the power. I give full gas and it takes 2 seconds before the engine gets power. It cant start unless I give a bit of gass. Cant be idle unless its warm. Any tips?
I have a Yamaha cygnus gains speed then loses speed gains speed loses speed i get little bursts of power to about 60mph but mainly 50mph should go faster even on a straight its the same
@@scooterstreetau i checked the head gasket and it didnt have one so i installed one it worked but still laggs out at start, it only has kick start, no battery, so only thing i can tell is that its a carb problem
@@scorphkclark9122 If it was riding fine, then all of a sudden the issue developed then you will find it is a wear, vibration or electrical issue. Wear on any moving part in the transmission or air to fuel system can have this slow effect. It can also come from vibrations effecting the carby mechanical parts, float, needle. And check the carby tuning if there has been a significant weather change.
@@scooterstreetau i bought it from my boss that aquired it from a storage locker cleanout he did, it was runing worse than now when i first bought it till i cleaned the carb it runs better but still has no takoff power at full throttle.
@@scorphkclark9122 It may have a dirty air filter, it may not be connected at the carby or perished rubber hose connector. Wants more tips? Donate at our Home page🙏
Im not sure what's wrong. I recently overfilled my gas tank and gas leaked from the evap canister. Last week it was running perfectly. I bought a new canister but I'm not sure that will fix it.
@@scooterstreetau found out it was my muffler..... apparently the fiberglass in my muffler has shifted all i had to do was still a metal rod in there to poke it, it keeps coming loose so I'll either remove it or get a new muffler
