Mechs were the most popular request last week, so here you go, five sketches done in a variety of mediums followed by a look at some past mech renderings done in Photoshop. The comments and requests were helpful so please keep them coming. Have a safe and productive week!

Really enjoyed the sketches today. The first few mechs gave a sense of scouting intended to keep the pilot high up, like a walking lookout tower. I especially enjoyed your comments on inventing story around features, which would in turn inspire additions to the sketch to further articulate or flesh out the functionality you imagine. The tuk tuk concept continues to interest me as a study of common vehicles, especially those that are usually rather large, re-imagined at tuk tuk scale and proportion. Little tuk tuk fire trucks, garbage trucks, food trucks, tow trucks, etc. :) Appreciate your gift for teaching and ongoing interactions with the community.

Correct me if I'm wrong: I think you had your camera set in Aperture with Auto ISO. What you want is a function called Exposure Lock, or just Manual mode it with fixed Aperture, fixed ISO, and manual, fixed focusing distance.

Do you think that the medium conditions design and style? I think it is easier for me to make more organic figures in graphite, but I don't know if I should fight with that instinct or accept it.
@scottrobertsondesign
@scottrobertsondesign 4 года назад
Sometimes. I find it easier to draw organic forms with graphite. Felt tip style pens work best for mechanical/geometric forms.

Hi Scott, I just visited your website after realizing you have more books to offer and assuming you have a store on there. I don't see one (though the site looks great!). Also, clicking Scott's Links gives me a 'Not Found" page, and the Contact page appears blank (I was going to contact you about the broken links). I'd love to be able to purchase your books through your site rather than through Amazon, if possible. Amazon Canada doesn't even appear to offer these Sketch Collections. Thanks! :)

Hello Sir! I just wanna know that do you, before making the sketch, think about the feasibility or application or practicality of the concept, or are these simply some form explorations? I'm asking this because whenever I try to make anything like this, I flow away with the thought whether is there any point in making this kind of stuff... ;)
