Amazing as always ! these videos are very inspiring! i would have a question regarding complexity and forms, since you create so many different designs and styles. What do you think is the best exercise to assimilate and digest forms, in order to be able to add them in your repertoire or "dictionary" of forms when you do concepts ? \ Copy shapes or drawings from others ? try to find "happy accidents" using different media ? draw 2 pages of veichles a day ? Thank you again, love these videos and your books!
Probably drawing or modeling things from our own reality first. I would avoid using abstraction until you have a very strong visual library based on real objects. You will need to layer this anatomy knowledge with the abstraction later.
I've got a copy of Sketch Collection vol.2, plus How to Render, How to Draw, Liftoff and Start Your Engines. I have to say, they're some of the best books I own. And I feel like the graphic design goes underappreciated - the front / back covers are excellent and so well branded, and the layout is awesome. They're the total package, amazing series. One question (if you read this) Scott - any idea if you'll ever re-print your sketch collection vol. 1 in the manner of the second volume? I'd buy that in a heartbeat.
Such fantastic work. I'm a 3D artist in the games industry and I'd love to know your position on someone like me using one of your concepts as a modelling exercise/ portfolio piece? Is this something that you allow and would be OK with? Obviously you would be credited and have your work linked to etc... Thanks for being a constant inspiration throughout my career, ever since one of my lecturers showed me your stuff years ago I haven't stopped being blown away!
Take prompt from intober52 and draw a prompt without reference and without skipping video, only with one instrument(not pencil) that you never use before, use only one blank page. will you make a video? it will help to understand the process.
It's like church every Sunday when Scott uploads. Thank you as always Scott for the inspiration and insight. I own Vol.02 but can't seem to get Vol.01, maybe am just being stupid but Vol.01 seems to be sold out everywhere.
@@scottrobertsondesign Actually I bought a copy last year from an Ebay seller. He is selling a number of books from Design Studio Press. I just hope they are genuine, specially my SRW Vol 1.
