He’s past it because he’s 39 and playing in a joke league. It’s nothing serious. All players are past their best at 39. He’s still a decent player, just nowhere near what he was in his prime. And nobody’s celebrating a draw, it’s just putting an end to a horrendous run of defeats, with a raft of injuries against a top, top team.

Best I ever saw by a mile was Maradona, no one close to him. Ronaldo is only considered now due to the lack of naturally gifted superstars we have nowadays. Back in the 60’s 70’s and 80s there was a ton of them. Now you couldn’t even name one except for two old men with no competition. Messi and Ronaldo.
Your aff your head if you don’t think there’s naturally gifted players nowadays. The reason why nobody has seemingly been able to reach the sort of peaks the greats have hit is simply due to everyone in the game upping their standards even non league teams now play with proper formations and have sport science equipment ect. Players are just better nowadays than before but that’s the same with most things time = progression
Agreed, I’d add 90s players to that too. Nowadays people are obsessed with stats over football. Messi and Ronaldo have both but I don’t see anyone being generationally great at football. Only Iniesta, Kaka, Ronaldinho and Neymar (talent wise) has come close this century imo (I class R9, Maldini and ZZ as 90s).
