Can you imagine?! I was having this same conversation with a friend. If CRC had done that it might just have been the best trail in UK and one of the best in the world. Such a missed opportunity 🤦♂️
@@streetpigeonmtb that would be a game changer if they got to do that. Got to ride Tarland last week, it’s awesome, and with glen livet in the area it’s definitely looking good up there now for natural and trail centre riding. I did heartbreak ridge, glen clova/ loch muick ride after seeing you do it, even went in the river on that slide. Then two days at livet and a day a Tarland. Looking forward to getting back later in the year. Hoping the weather was as good as last week. Great channel btw. 👍
At last, we’ve got a trail centre! Aberdeenshire has been crying out for this for years! Thanks for sharing Jamie, although the selfish part of me wants to keep it secret. Me and a mate went up yesterday and we had a go on all the trails. SO well built, SO well designed, SO much fun. We’re lucky to have some amazing natural trails in Aberdeenshire but this opens up a whole new world for us. Huge thanks to Chris and all at CRC, to all the funders, to the MacRobert Trust and to TDG. I reckon my annual parking pass will be the best investment I’ve made in years!
I'm so happy for you. We need more places like this across Scotland. MTB is so positive for so many people. Places like this make the sport even more inclusive. I love it mate ❤️
Fantastic, I don't think I have ever heard so much joy in an MTB video! This is one of your best edits to date. This has convinced me that I need to move to Scotland, the MTB scene only gets stronger!
Sometimes you watch something and you are literally stuck for words. This is one of those moments. And then I heard the word phenomenal within the commentary. That sums it up nicely. Phenomenal trail centre and a phenomenal video production. 🤠
@@streetpigeonmtb After watching this 100 per cent. Perfect for an ageing biker like me. I won't be going for the jumps (very impressive though they are) and will just blast it and roll it. Just watched the video again. Absolutely superb. Definitely on my bucket list together with Heartbreak ridge which I watched on the Pigeon channel. Keep these adventures coming. The drone footage is fantastic. Cheers. Stoozer. 🤠
Well you have well and truly sold that place to me Jamie.. your excitement coming down the blue was another level.. I had a smile on my face just watching.. excellent vid as ever pal 👍
Amazing! Truly great on-trail reporting, thanks for that. And this Chris genius? Crowd funded?! I am looking at plane tickets from the Midwest of the US to Scotland. Bravo, gents.
Thanks so much for the comment mate. It's really positive and I'll make sure Chris gets to see it. I hope you make it over. You'll have an incredible time I'm sure!
Being a Tarland loon makes me want to go and ride this ASAP. I don't need an excuse to return there from the Central belt to visit my best mate who farms there and my Mum & Sister are in Banchory so I have a base to travel from. Looks like that EMTB on the wish list is a priority now as my weary legs are not what they used to be. When we were kids growing up in Tarland it was racing bikes because that was all we had but my passion was cross country so I had to buy a Kawasaki Trail Bike but in adult life I saw the light and went back to MTB's. Congrats to everyone who was involved in this and putting Tarland on the map. Mind you it will always have special memories for myself and my family.
was really excited to watch this! Great to see such a well built flow trail centre in Scotland! You can see how much speed you carry everywhere - looks awesome! Nice schralp😆
Ha ha. Rumour has it that it was the smallest schralp that Aberdeenshire has ever witnessed. I'm taking it though 🤣 You guys will love it there. Flow central!
At last! A proper bike park in Scotland! I can't wait to give that a try. Looks like there's something for everyone. Especially the jumps. Who doesn't like a bit of hang time. Nice edit Jamie. 🤘
Will do - avoided this weekend as thought would be hoaching and wasn’t bad apparently 😅. My aether 9c needs new bearings so might have to use the Process 😮
Awesome video Jamie!! Absolutely have to get all the way up to Aberdeenshire in the summer now! Was wondering about sticking to the 7 Stanes ,but not now! You're the perfect natural salesman for Scotland's fantastic mountain biking!! 😁
Thanks Susie. Really appreciate those kind words. The 7 Stanes set the original trail centre benchmark in Scotland, you can never take that away from them. However, Tarland now holds that title and this is a positive thing... It has laid down a challenge, a standard that hopefully other destinations will now elevate themselves to. Get yourself there ASAP. It's good, really good!!!
Well, that's put Tarland on the map! Was up in Towie last year and had a mooch around the area. Lovely place, conveniently located to explore Aberdeenshire. I'm green with envy!! 👍
@@streetpigeonmtb I don’t think I have ever heard anyone enjoying a bike/trail as much as you were there… I was smiling for you 😂 The place looks absolutely amazing 👍🏻
@@Mockle07 cheers man. It was so good. That was a genuine response. I was just blown away buddy. So pleased to have captured the day on camera. Cheers for taking the time to watch and comment 👍
Excellent video Jamie and completely sold me on visiting here 😂, Planning holiday in Ballater end of May hiring ebike from Ballater Bike Station visiting Tarland and weather permitting Heartbreak Ridge too, love the mix of flow trails with features, thanks for sharing! 😁🤙
Amazing video. Phenomenal place for sure. Can't believe we have this place now. Call me Chris and the second part of the pittenderich descent are so good. Defo my favourite. But the full blue at around 7 minutes long is also unbelievably good. Your excitement going down was plain to hear, your enthusiasm is superb. I felt the same going down and can't wait to get back on my next day off.
Thanks so much mate. I really appreciate that. I love that the GoPro can capture the events as they happen. I could hear the pure joy as I rode down. It was real. Now I just need to head back so that I can get that stoke again!!! Cheers buddy 🤙
It’s just a motorway through a nice landscape. I find it soo weird to have such an amazing landscape and then a perfectly graded trail straight through it
I'd have to disagree with you. I think it's nice to have some variety to riding in Scotland. I'm in no way against natural style trails, you'll be able to see that from the other videos on the channel. However, places like this offer something different and will be a great place for families and beginner riders to come to. This will be good for their own health, but will also encourage an appreciation of the land. Also, I'd argue that the landscape isn't particularly natural anyway. Most of the land in Scotland was stripped of forests and biodiversity during the clearances. What remains was agricultural land and managed forests. I get what you are saying, but personally I think the benefits far surpass any negatives 👍
@@streetpigeonmtb fair enough, I take your points. It always looks so alien to me seeing a beautifully graded trail cut through the landscape, but appreciate that a range of abilities enjoying cycling is great for us all!
@Street Pigeon MTB enjoy! Laura mentioned she may be going too - unfortunately my damper has gone on the forks so will be a few weeks before I make it out on the big bike!
Ah gutted! Hopefully you get that fixed soon. I think you'll love it mate. Maybe you could head up for the weekend and do the new jump line at Glenlivet also!
It's very good mate. I feel like there is so much energy in Aberdeenshire at the moment. Lots of good stuff going on. Do you think you'll ever make the trip?
Cheers mate. The bike is a Bird Aeris 9C. I have a build video at ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-BoUH3VYVI80.html and a first impressions vid at ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-p2S3U60Dagc.html Hopefully they are helpful 👍
Afraid not. I think there may be some green trails at some point. I'd say the blue trails great for beginners and the less adventurous. They are built so that they can be ridden at speed or slowly 👍
It's open now mate. If you check on trailforks they update the maps. As far as I know there might be one trail closed. When I rode it we missed 3 trails and still had a total blast 🤙
Looks so good! Do you have to book and is there a fee for the trail up at Tarland?? My son and I might nip up this weekend from Fife as it looks so good😬
Yup, it's effectively free. So long as people pay for parking (£5 per day) it should be good. Hopefully people will be more than happy to pay this given how good the trails are 🤙
Hi mate. It's a Bird Aether 9C. It's a fantastic wee trail bike. I've actually changed it a little recently, going for a 150mm travel fork, upped from 130mm. I did a a build video here ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-BoUH3VYVI80.html I've also got a first impressions video here ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-p2S3U60Dagc.html Give me a shout if you have any questions 👍
Very much so. The only think I would say is just acknowledge the speed. It would be easy to get carried away, so just been mindful of that. You will love it mate ❤️🤙
If you contact Clark at Pitfichie Bike Bothy he could probably help you out. His shop is about 30 minutes away from the trails 👍 Hope you make it over 🤙
@@streetpigeonmtb ive ridden the crc built trail at glenlivet and boy do those guys know flow, looking forward to getting back up there again to tarland and glenlivet again at some point :D
Mate, I totally agree. They are so on point right now. You should see the jump line they have just put in at Glenlivet. For pros only I would suggest 🤯🤯🤯
@@streetpigeonmtb defintely for the big boys and girls 😅. I take it youve seen the new flow/jump trail there building at tress at the exit of ewok beside double cross?
That's a lot of climbing, that amount is beyond your average rider. Bikeparks in Germany of that size would have a lift. Why aren't you guys putting together a business proposal and getting a drag lift installed
Imagine deciding if a million pound budget can make a trail centre designed to encourage as many cyclists as possible into the outdoors to enjoy at all skill levels ORRR make thin track in wood for bloke…
Hey mate. I think the issue is that Scotland already had miles and miles of natural singletrack. If you watch my vids you will see 90% if my riding is on singletrack. So do I want trail centres that offer a 'bike park' experience? Hell yes! IMO we should be encouraging people to cycle. It is good for their health, tourism, the local economy and so much more. If we are going to do this we need accessible and fun trails that everyone can use. So importantly, this trail centre doesn't reduce the abundant natural trail numbers in Scotland. It actually ensures Scotlnad has an even more varied offering. I know what I'd choose 😏
@@streetpigeonmtb Yeah fair enough. I'm not anti trail centre at all. I'm just not convinced we need trails wide enough for quad bikes. The same thing is happening everywhere and it's getting harder to find natural trails at trail centres because they've all been made into wide, fast, flowy and very man-made rather than natural
Yeah. I'd say there is probably less demand for that given the amount of natural trails available. I'm in the Tweed Valley and the natural singletrack out numbers the trail centre stuff by about 10 to 1. I suppose it depends on where you ride though. Are you based in Scotland bud?
@@streetpigeonmtb No, in Shropshire. There's plenty here, but largely shared with walkers which is OK most of the time. Trail centres are great... but having started in the 90's its a far cry from what it was then!
