Most of the UK Guitar Show coverage is a really hard listen because the background noise is insane. This , then, is the among the best coverage on it I've seen because it bypassed all that. Good work Steve. y'll be reet.

Nice coverage mate. As others have said, showing the footage with a commentary is an easier expereince than dealing with the background noise of the live sound 👍

Cheers mate - That was one of the coolest guitars of the show for me, and not as expensive as a lot of the other stuff there either. I'd want a roasted maple neck on it tho 😜 Made a good connection with Jet at the show. Always a fun show, Steve! Guitar shows twice a year would be helpful for interview and demo content. Think about a portable rig for demo videos. It could work! Cheers!
Damn all those trains . . . and you still had to walk 20 mins?! Plot twist, the wrist stamp also had caffeine. Boy you were loaded that day, lol. It’s actually funny to see the differences between these guitar conventions. The more local brands are probably the most interesting part. I’ve seen mentions of brands (not “boutique” builders, but small companies) that I’ve never heard of. Makes me wonder what else is out there . . . 👽👾🛸🎸🤘🏻
I know right!? The UK is hard to navigate 😂 I'm supposed to be trying to quit coffee too - but the pull was too strong after the tiresome travels 🫨 For next time - I need to spend more time checking out the booths, I was kinda just running around aimlessly. See some other peoples vids of the show and there's loads of cool stuff I completely missed 🙈
Nice you spent a bit time with the Pacifica. I think those always have been a good value for the price and they even upped their game. Unfortunately I just don't like the shape. Same goes for the Revstar, which also are very good instruments. FGN is awesome. Where else can you get a Made in Japan guitar for 500 moneys? The neck profiles are not for me, the bang for your buck is insane. You just can't go wrong with Schecter. They are just masters of building comfortable guitar necks, whatever you usually prefer. I don't know how they do it, it's magic. I can't wait for your vid with Colin Scott - I'll probably understand nothing ;) I think the networking effect of a show like that is also huge, I hope it helps you grow a lot.

I'll keep an eye out for a used one in future, would need to spend a couple hours with the neck to see what it's all about 👍 Unfortunately... Thank ya mate 😃👍 SoloKing's and Jets are both great choices for the coin 👍 All depends what you like. I'd say the SoloKing's are better specced for the price (pickups not great tho imo) and the Jets have better execution in terms of the quality. That's been my experience with both 👍

Gear acquisition syndrome they cry it. Want a start style with bridge humbucker so I can put a dimarzio Fred pickup in it. Love satrianis older set up. Not to sure I feel the same about his modern tones but his late 80s and 90s sound is killer. Cheers mate

Live in San Francisco dvd is amazing too. Yeah I saw that guitar. Looks like his js for sure. I've never had a Floyd trem before so no idea how to change strings and fix intonation and that. More of a strat and les paul guy. Would love a prs se Santana guitar in Amber. Probs my favourite looking guitar ever.
@@FlightofElixirs I like the early satch stuff too; Not of this Earth, even some of the demo's from Time Machine 🤓 Was an absolute Satch Fan Boy in my teens, but last album I bought was Engines of Creation - not his best 😬 Crystal planet was awesome 😎👌 Think "Time" is my fave 😁. Good exposè Steve, I’ve often wondered what all these guitar shows actually looked like, wasn’t expecting the ‘clearance’ sale though! Got a live stream/video idea: Pickup swaps, worth it or white elephant?! Also, how much do you need to spend to get ‘better’ pickups than the stock ones at various price points? So something like Tone Riders will cost about £100 for a SSS or HSS set, this might represent an upgrade to a £250 HB, Jet, Squier etc but maybe not so much for a £500-£600 Sire or Mex Fender etc. just a thought!!
Thank ya mate! 😀👍 Yeah there was a lot of stuff "on offer" or reduced to "show price" but sometimes (not all vendors) the discounts were not really discounted at all compared to the online prices. 😜 Thanks for the Pick ups suggestion too mate 😎👍 It's a tricky one as it's hugely subjective and down to taste etc... For me, I like to buy reputable value pickups (Iron Gear, Tone Rider etc..) but 2nd hand/used 🙈 Some of us Scots are known to be quite tight fisted 😂 But yeah great point on the upgrade parts cost to guitar value proposition. Definitely worth further exploration 👍
@@stevecassidyguitar I thought Scotsmen were all super generous with their money almost to point of frivolity?!! 😂 It is very difficult as there is no real objective measure of ‘better’ when it comes to sound, but yet we are all still chasing that perfect tone! The 2 pickup swaps I’ve done so far have all been changes of type (SSS to HSS and JM to WRHB) so it’s always been fairly easy to tell the difference. I also have a 2009 Mexican Fender Strat and I’ve been thinking about upgrading but it is a fairly expensive risk to take because you’ll only know if the new ones are more to your taste once they are fitted and therefore beyond the point of being returnable! Good point on the 2nd hand thing though, that takes some of the risk out of it.
@@antonyedwardson9900 A lot of it comes down to experimentation too. There's nothing wrong with the MIM pickups, but I'd say there's definitely a lot of good affordable replacements out there you'd probably love. Depends what your after, if you want hotter, more modern, or more vintage etc? - loads of options to try out 😀👍
Tony Mckenzie, he's the guy who tried to convince the guitar community that Harley Bentons have photo flames, he also claimed the bridge that came on his Harley Benton SC 550 was rusty, he was called out on this and it was also pointed out that the bridge he claimed was rusty was not a model that is supplied with HB guitars, he ended up taking the video down, he is a massive Gibson fan, some people said he was not at all happy that he had paid thousands for his Gibson guitars and here is HB putting out a good guitar at a fraction of that price, how dare they!
I totally missed all that controversy. But I remember watching TM's channel way back when there weren't many guitar channels around, Enjoyed his strat partscaster builds

Despite yer complaints, I found yer footage much less frenetic than everyone else's. The over-talk without the madness of live shows, mebbe? Also, Yoshi likes you! Woo-woo dee hoo-hoo....

I wonder if you saw there what we saw here? Im not going to sugar coat this. I live in California and will stay. We had the weakest NAM ever here. The vendor's didn't show they cared about us at all. The main names didnt show and it was said to be the signs of the times. Sam ash, fender and guitar center all reported more losses in the last year than ever before with fender being number 1 in canceled order's. America, though resilient, is in trouble and we cant pretend to ignore it. I won't. Fender closed one whole shift in the Corona factory and that totals 600 people. Sam ash is closing 1500 stores I think. I see the division, people that can still afford a guitar are even too busy to play so that means that soon, the rich will be all thats left. Let's talk some real stuff some time. Not politics but real life. Hows the market there? Im livid btw. 🏃♂️ ranman out!
I hear ya Ranman! I remember the news last year of the Fender Layoffs - that didn't sit well with me, and I've pretty much lost interest in Fender since then, along with them giving up on the software support for the Mustang and GT amps. Also seen the news about the Sam Ash Closures. But in terms of this UK Guitar show - It was my first time at a show like this so, I really don't have anything to compare it to. I totally agree, prices in general are becoming more and more unattainable from the big brands. Looks like for the "Bar Gig weekend warriors" (a bit like myself) it's Harley Benton's, Jet's, Squiers, etc... based on what we get paid for gigs. I'd feel silly rocking up to a gig with a £2k Guitar to play a gig for £50 🙈
@@stevecassidyguitar , good word mate, that's what I'm talking about. Fender did the same to me. I've never owned one. I've fixed a few defeats in them to know, they aren't who they say they are anymore usa model, 6 or more pieces for a painted body . Hiring robot's instead of humans. That's what they actually did. Cut costs by automation and therefore eliminating the human aspect of certain job's. Gigging with a 2 thousand dollar guitar isn't practical anymore. People now have 2 of for that. The real deal and the close fake. Squier vintage 80s for me. They are mostly plywood body but the necks and all the hardware if from Japan is legitimately Fender quality and stamped. Strange years, 84 through 87.
