I don't find any of it offensive. I'm seeing an obsessive requirement in the Comedy Unleashed audience that it must be offensive in order to be funny. I would have been interested to watch the response to him using the Manchester Arena bombing as part of his act, or Hillsborough, or the Lee Rigsby murder and wonder how funny his offensiveness would have been perceived in those instances? Grenfell didn't offend me; though it was tasteless but he's largely playing to an audience with quite specific requirements.
Christian Vaclavic They will fail. Comedy, like music, isn’t learnt, it’s visceral. Trying to quieten the canary in the coal mine seems a bad idea right?
@@styvieagget4580 It doesn't matter if they'll inevitably fail or not, they're still doing it. They've pushed "right wing" (politically incorrect, essentially) comedians into a separate sphere, same for other forms of entertainment and media. Some have been outright banned (still) from performing at certain venues and, of course, universities. Obviously, it's a bad idea to quiet the canary in the coal mine, but there are people who want all of our current ideals to die like those miners would. And, while I'm glad to see a resurgence and pushback from comedians and other artists, you can hardly claim they're "winning" anything. They're gaining some ground, but until the wool is pulled completely from the eyes of the moderately reasonable SJWs and the average, ignorant person, I fear there will always be a cap on what we who cherish free speech can accomplish. Whether that's 40% or 60% of the population, I can't say. The issue is that these ideologues are so pervasive in every form of media, tech, government, and education, and engaged in rampant nepotism to remain so, that politically incorrect voices continue to be silenced for various asinine reasons. And, as someone who is very plugged into this "culture war," don't fool yourself that we're winning. We aren't even at a tie, yet. Two steps forward, three steps back...every time. It doesn't matter if it's visceral, they have their gestapo in every medium.
Christian Vaclavic This is a fantastic reply, thankyou! I think I come across blasé in this topic because I approach it in the same way as I do with people who say ‘modern music is bland’; I agree, the predominant narrative and pushed agenda is bland, and has actually always been so, but anyone with even a slight incentive to dig will find the underbelly that do it for the artistic expression, or even for the commercialization of the artistic expression. Can our current perceptions be a representation or mobilization of specific demographics perhaps?
@Citizen Four There's also this video to back your assertion. Just sayin': archive.org/details/DavidColeInAuschwitz--DavidColeInterviewsDr.FranciszekPiperDirectorAuschwitzStateMuseum
Holy shit this dude is fucking great. I was watching Mrs. Doubtfire and just looked him up on IMDB and then Wikipedia and read that he's a comedian and "provactive" and I was expecting him to just preach about his personal views on societal issues like alot of comedians do these days....aaaaand it was not that at all aaaaand he had me fucking rolling. And he's quick- like, multiple savage burns within burns. Very talented. I'm gonna watch more of him now.
Your tempo and meter, never allowing enough time to dwell on personal attachment to the current car crash before the next. The self incrimination, offering up every nuance of personal vulnerability as a waiting space for the return of fire. Its been a long time since I have been this immersed and impressed by the layering in a set. So charmingly offering glances of how each bit has formed and the true essence of feeling that has equipped it. Thank you Scott. for a few moments tonight I was trapped in that decadent place between horror and joy deep within myself where through your humor I was able to see the world around me a little more clearly.
Scott is the perfect stand up comic. Absolutely fearless wonderfully acerbic and belly laugh out loud funny. I was Scott's support act at the Chapter Arts Center, in Cardiff, way back in the early 90s. So happy for Scott That people are getting to see this set of his. Congratulations on getting married Scott.
As we find our way back from de-platforming and self censorship, this sets the bar for high quality comedy that goes to every untouchable subject in turn and gleefully fondles it. You’ve already laughed before you realise it was outrageous, then you laugh again.
Scott Cappuro climbed up onto my seat during a performance in London about 10 years to demonstrate what t-bagging was to the rest of the audience . Good times 👍
It's like Jimmy Carr says, offend everybody and you offend nobody, great audience, a few ooos but no groans or boos, refreshing to see people still have a sense of humour
23 minutes of non stop comedy!!! Offended only the offended. What an amazing mind and his timing kept making me LOL the entire time. No group was left out hahaha
I guess uncensored humor is what unites us most. Not gender, not politics, not religion. As Bill Burr said, we are all eating a shit-sandwich out here.
Great stuff! But, I haven't watched one Comedy Unleashed video where there isn't a bottle being dropped or knocked over very loudly. Is it a custom to do this at that club? ;) Great set mate!
No it wasn't. When Channel 4 started, they chose the precurser to the politically correct, left-wing, right-on comedy of today, and called it 'alternative'.
And taking shots at himself too. Just brilliant. A good comedian writes for the joke not the agenda and even if you don't like the message you can't help but laugh. That's real comic genius. Throw all taboos of leftists and conservatives overboard and start swinging at everyone indiscriminately. :D
Shame that the mic is booming, can't hear this and can't turn the volume up because still can't hear him. Someone needs to address the bass issue on the mic mixer.
I cannot hear half of what he's saying. Its not a volume problem on my system because the audience sounds very loud. It might be his microphone, the timbre of his voice, or his tendency to mutter. It could be the video editor needed to adjust base and treble.
He lowers his voice for the punchlines and the asides, as if he's sharing a joke with the front row, but does not want the back rows to hear it. Perhaps he is not totally comfortable with his material. But it's very annoying. The humor I could hear was very funny, I hope he can improve his delivery as he gains more confidence.
