Well thank you for commenting all the way from Vietnam. It was a difficult tour while in your country, but I have some good memories. I only wish the US would have stayed the course.
A great song, written by one of my favourite songwriters (John Phillips of the Mamas & Papas). Scott McKenzie sang it wonderfully well, and I bought the single, which had a great B-side too, called What's the Difference. It made No. 1 in the UK. Such a shame Scott turned out to be a one-hit-wonder. He had the talent and the looks. Strange how things go sometimes. Thanks for sharing your warmly rendered laid-back version of this song, Mike! I have considered learning it myself, but never got round to it.
Thank you Robert. Was the B side a hit in the UK. It is indeed very interesting how so many songs were received differently in our respective countries as to the charts. Had to do alot with the disc jockeys ( Ashley called them over here).
@@mikebrookbankguitarvocals7322 It was "San Francisco" that made No.1 in the UK charts, but the B-side did get some airplay too, because it was such a good song. If I remember rightly Scott wrote the B-side himself. Strange how real stardom seemed to evade him, after such a strong start.
Thank you Master, just now after a few weeks so you post. I indeed was in Vietnam, but is was a very long, long time ago. I will be 78 next month and was in Vietnam when I was 20. Ha!
