Serial Super Rugby champion Scott Robertson now has his first Test series under his belt, and it's a win against a tough England squad. He reflected on the win at Eden Park.
England fan here. I’m a big fan of Borthwick, but it’s SO refreshing to see an international head coach who isn’t defensive, prickly or deadpan under questioning by journalists. I guess the real test will come, though, if/when the ABs falter. Well done on both victories my kiwi friends. 👏🏻
Totally agree as an England fan. Like Robertsons' openness and positivity, also including a bit of respect for the opposition. Good luck NZ and see you back on our Island in Autumn!
Is that not his job? He didn't do much last week, but the whole bench came on and made an impact. There's no I in team mate the squad won the game not 1 man
While Beaudy did play well, how many times has dmac and other impactful backs off the bench done similar things. Their job is to use those fresh legs to create plays against a tired defense, especially as the game opens up and loses structure around the 60-75th minute mark. Again, Beaudy played well, but he certainly didn't rescue the team, he performed his role well.
Ratima definitely helped change the game when he came on with his better passing and kicking. Should be preferred well ahead of Finlay, who just looks slow and indecisive.
Lots to work on for the AB's, but two wins against a very good England team is a solid start. Beaudy B take a bow, I was one of his biggest critics, but he really stood up in this series.
Rugby is a game of three essential variables: power, pace and precision. The All Blacks have always had all three in spades. Occasionally the competition could match them for power, or sometimes pace, but precision has always been lacking. For the first time in recent history other International sides have raised their precision levels to All Black level. England made hardly any errors in this last very intense test. Ireland similarly in their last few tests. It's great for the sport in general and the AB's still have the edge when it comes to playing strength in depth. Only the Springboks have a similarly strong squad. I'm really looking forward to future matches like these last two with genuinely competitive sides battling it out.
This is what test match rugby is all about, tests are for the best!. With a bit more cohesion, connection and front foot ball the AB's will become more dangerous, good to see they were willing to run the ball from their own half at times. Throw a fit again Cam Roigard and Will Jordan in there and they'll be lethal
Horrible lineout . ABS need taller locks like Darry , lord … imagine vs giants locks boks ! Struggling vs rush defense. Poor attack. Many players can’t be in the team : Codie out now retreat , finau poor 6, Christie worst 9. Center pair weak : proctor - ALB better. Caleb and. Narawa wings . In 15 , without Jordan, Love must be the 15. McKenzie is bad in 10( and poor kicking).Beauden in 10.
For me it's about Razor the first and only All Black coach, trainer, manager to know how to smile and laugh, listen to me very carefully the first and only Frank from South Africa 🎉🎉🎉🎉❤
Now that this series is over I hope Razor introduces some new characters into the game. Tosi, Williams, Satiti, Ratima. Proctor and Narawa need to be given their opportunity. Cortez Ratima and Billy Proctor have been performing at a high level for the last two seasons. With Reiko’s form at the moment not quite there, Proctor needs his chance to prove himself.
Jeepers that was a nervous game to watch. I think a lot of potential rugby for both teams was subdued due to dew. (deep sigh lol) It was super slippery. Epic game of chess going on all round - think we scrummed better, but mainly failed in the lineouts. Will look at stats soon, but both teams forwards put in a lot of mana. Equally in the mid's, both teams 9 and 10's fronted up. I'd give advantage to England in the kicking game, preferred the style of England's 9 this week and Marcus at 10 definitely stepped up and had a great game. Personally, I always wanted Webber to be our 9 but blah blah blah. And now I'll be hoping Cortez will be given the reins first. TJ is... consistently Ok. Christie is really good, amazing tackler, strong guy - there's something about Cheifs 9's and 10's that just works. I've always had smiles for D'Mac. Think we finally saw the potential of him at 10 and Beaudy impacting 15 in the second half. They seemed to click - also Beaudy looked the most confident I've seen him for a while now. Older man's still got it. Loved that running pick-up he's amazing at, and shieeet, that double boot - legend. New fan of Fletcher here, he had a great game, Aumua equally. Taylor... each to their own, not for me. Never has been, even though he's a great player. Still giving penalties and stuffing lineouts which is couch potato annoying. Reece and Reiko did what they do but were probably shut down more than they would have liked... actually now that I think about it, Reece had a bloody awesome game. I'm now a Taliever (Talea believer?) outstanding player to watch. Overall, a little surprised we pulled off two wins given the amount of time new coaches and players were given to come together, but of course, I'll never admit that and new they would and I never doubted them :) Congrats. Looking forward to seeing potential peak over the course of this year's challenges. Hope England knows that they kinda lost in points wise only really. Like their style of play but also hope it doesn't get toooooo much better, because it's lethal.
Im very proud of our bench, they made a massive impact that's for sure ! Our starting locks need to take a good look at themselves, because their work rate is not up with Brody and Whitlock.
There's a lot of clowns in the public arena who have a very negative attitude to towards sports. You guys need to crawl back into the holes you came out of. On a positive note, well done All Blacks your 2nd game for the year, versus An English team that's been playing together for three + months via The Six Nations, and World Cup. Super Proud Of The All Black's Coaching Staff, and the New Zealand public 🇳🇿 who showed up to the All Black's
1st class Refereeing England are tough and will be a very challenging assignment when we meet in November the All blacks got the win yes 'but" there are areas needing attention we were under duress alot and didn't dictate the terms the bench was again the difference the rep frontrow and Beauden turned the tide job done
The All Blacks are in good hands. I'm expecting a second string team to take the field against Fiji. But England will be tough to beat at Twickenham in November. Can't remember the last time that they won there, was it the 2015 RWC Final?
In November, all blacks will be other beast with team settled , new talents any positions ( tamati or tosi- Newell > lomax - de groot ; Roigard in 9 , beauden in 10 , Jordan in 15 and others wings , proctor center ..) . Combinations learnt and gameplan also . They can beat them in Twickenham. The rugby championship ( vs boks , Australia) will give better all blacks.
Dont know whats worst reading the comments from poms blaming the ref or all the Razor haters ...but guess its hard for a lot of north islands to know how awesome it is to have our crusaders coach where he belongs..after 4 years of fosters hell its gd to have a winner for a change...funny he comes from the north island same as captain its not their fault they were sick of being losers and found the mighty mainland...we should of cut that cable years ago ...enjoy watching the best coach the abs have had for a long time...soon Jordan..Richie..Blackadder..williams ..Grace..Hannah will be in the team then u lot will be crying 😂😂😂
Reiko is not in great form at the moment, Billy Proctor on the other hand is in the form of his life and has performed at a high level for the last two seasons.
they didn't play the level we expect them to play, line out and some individual errors, before beaudy came on it looked very even, then big bro came on to spark some creativity and read the game differently. Good experience but all will be revealed when we face SAF.
I actually thought England held the upper hand for most of this match , until the subs came on . Once again our bench proved to be the difference, it was similar last week .
TBH its almost dissapointing we won both these games as it may give Razor false hope in some of these players that clearly need to be dropped. The loosies in particular need changing and blackadder has to start. The lineout obviously but theres nobody else so it is what it is. I still say Sotutu needs to be in a larger squad for his lineout ability alone. NZ is winning but its very far from convincing.
Lucky again 6 & 7 need to step up, 2 needs to figure out line out red 9 slow delivery telia hopeless under high ball frankly overrated scored 2 any decent winger could of gave away 3. Bench the difference against a good side who will get better. BB calmness got it done. Lot off improvement required but razor unbeaten but some tougher teams to come go ABs.
Not improvement and even worst game than the 1rst. Bring us foster and Schmidt assistant attack ( ABS playing better with them ). Many players have not the level international : Codie out now , Christie , finau .. Many problems in this second game : horrible lineout , struggling vs rush defense, poor attack. No rugby journalist asked about these problems. Seriously ??
Mate get of the crack cocaine. Foster would have lost both tests. The team has been together for two weeks playing against a team who was unlucky to loose against the boks and beat the Irish this year. They are a bloody good team, so it was a very tough task for a entirely new coaching team with two weeks with their players.
In the finale , all blacks were stolen with 2 tries forgotten by referee and with 14 men all the time dominated boks . Boks can say thank you to referee .
@@Garethjames696kiwis are the most difficult group of fans to please historically, winning isn’t usually enough, they like to see complete domination for it to be convincing
they played together for years at club level, relationship is fine. think they are both nervous atm with interviews but they'll relax as the season goes on
All blacks are getting dangerous. The took out England and Scott got some experience at the same time coaching a great team building platform. The boks got a draw against Ireland.Won 1 lost 1 so which team is actually building something towards the world cup.The all blacks needs Scott robertson for the rwc to win and to bring the cup home where it belongs.
