If someone can win 3 WSOP bracelets and lose Player of the Year to someone who won none then the system is broken.

That won't happen with the new rules. You can only count your best 10 finishes. On the old system, players with 20 cashes would be near the top. The new system prioritizes winning bracelets.

Yes and no Jeremy had a 4th, 2nd, 6th, 7th, 3rd, and 4th very consistent. And if it wasn’t for the rules being changed this year most likely Shaun deeb is leading because he has like 20 cashes

It’s crazy how he doesn’t have POY wrapped up. It’s actually a neck and neck race with him and Ausmus right now. And Ivey is running deep in the 25k plo right now so if he happens to win that it would be practically a 3 way tie

Before the series started he "called his own shot " by saying he was going for player of the year. Babe Ruth on his T shirt famously did the same. As he now has three bracelets already "normally" he would have POY already locked up.

I will happily remove "irony" and replace with prophetic then. Yes, every player who plays the whole series is HOPING for POY but dont mention it. He came out and said it!. It would have looked a tad silly wearing that shirt and not finishing the deal by winning the bracelet. But just like Ruth he DID seal the deal.

Regardless of winning POY being what it is you’d think there would be a huge prize pool for say top 3 instead of a main event seat
