This old school BJJ vs Tae Kwon Do challenge match took place in 1994 between Scott "TNT" Tannenbaum and a Tae Kwon Do Black belt instructor. Scott (Gi) was a Blue belt at the time but wore his Aikido Black belt. The Tae Kwon Do instructor wanted to demonstrate how much more effective he would be in a real fight. After negotiating Scott was able to get the TKD instructor to bet on his skills with a lopsided rule set putting Scott at a huge disadvantage. The rules for the TKD instructor were "No biting or eye-gouging". For Scott "No biting, eye-gouging, punching, elbows, knees, headbutts, hair pulling or grabbing fingers. Also Scott had to win by submission". The TKD instructor was so sure he would win that he put up $1500 which was a lot of money in 1994. As you can see from the video Scott easily dominated even with the implemented rules. After the win the TK instructor immediately jumped up and said he wasn't ready and demanded a rematch. Scott obliged under the condition that once again the winner would receive another $1500 for winning. This second match is post as "Part 2".
Today Scott is a 5th Degree Black belt under the legendary Rigan Machado,
