Scottie Scheffler Charges Dropped 

The frustrating part of old 'Officer Friendly's' can't-we-all-just-get-along letter is his continued assertion that he was in fact dragged, as though that justifies his action in arresting Scheffler in the first place. It does not. I believe by 'dragged' what he means is better described as 'pulled off balance by hanging onto a moving vehicle instead of just letting go'. So, he fell down and got two separate point of contact injuries to his knee and to the wrist he put out to break his fall. And he tore his pants. That's not what being dragged over concrete looks like. Also, that is not an assault. Criminal assault requires intent. Ironically, though, if it's true that at one point Gillis hit Scheffler in the shoulder through the window of his car with no physical threat or provocation, that is 100% chargeable assault. Gillis is a hothead who lost his temper. Now he's butthurt because he made himself a national laughingstock, and that letter is a failed attempt to frame himself in a better light.
