Agree Scheffler is player of the year. Let's not forget that Xander was a co-leader going into round 4. He's as good as anyone not named Scottie Scheffler. Which is pretty damn good.
What you just saw today was definitely a Major. The emotions from the players and the fans alike, only Majors compare. You can take the Wanamaker trophy to the far corners of the world, people wouldn't know what it is. But an Olympic Medal, everyone knows what that is. Ask Tiger and Jack if they'd trade a Major trophy for Olympic Gold, I bet they'd both say yes in a heartbeat.
Olympics golf, now in it's third edition, has undeniably arrived as a legitimate top golfing event. You can see it in the participating player's own intense demeanour in striving to win a medal.
He definitely put his stamp on why he's #1 in the world. I just kept hoping and hoping all weekend and then he just buckled up his big boy pants and did what he does. He's got ice water in his veins.
NBC has exclusive control over the highlights until late Sunday, after they show their own coverage of the Olympic golf. You may find some bootleg highlights on You Tube if you look around.
@@bena2719 Yeah. CEO of NBC is a greedy prick with his Peacock. He showed his greed in the NFL last year. I guess someone had to pay a ransom for highlights?!
Additional note: would anyone be surprised if the Olympic committee gave Woods an honorary gold medal to honor his accomplishments. IMO there must be rumors about that happening.
NBC showed tennis, gymnastics, and cycling; nothing about golf and we are talking the best players who were all going low but no. I don’t watch much and all the major networks are clueless
Remember when people were saying Bryson dechambeau had overtaken scottie scheffler and that scheffler doesn’t face real competition those people got real silent
America wins the gold metal for unimaginable gun violence, worst income inequality among industrialized nations, bankruptcies due to medical debt, and corrupt politicians. Not cool at all. These country club boys who grown up and play on the tour have a nice life though.
@@tutteturunen6822 For purposes of this discussion I consider both an olympic gold medal and a FedX cup championship to be on par with winning a major. Scottie will be favored to win the FeX Cup (and including the money championship that goes with that) but if Xander happens to win then he would have three "majors" to Scottie's two. Yes, Scottie would have three more regular tour wins, but, I ask, would Scottie trade three of his regular tour wins for a major? Bet he would. If so, Scottie would then have to vote for Zander as POY.
I honestly dont like the way they incoporate some sports into the olympics. Take track and field, so many different events and medals to be awarded for each event. A 4 day golf tournament all for ONE measley medal? Golf can be broken up into a bunch of different skill competitions just like track and field. Long Drive should be in the olympics, putt putt golf should be in the olympics. TopGolf target games should be in the olympics. But no, we get one 4 round tournament for ONE measley fkn metal that barely contributes to the overal total medals golf might as well not be in the olympics 😂😂😂 OR LET MAKES IT FAIR, WHATEVER COUNTRY DOES THE BEST OVERALL ACROSS ALL TRACK AND FIELD EVENTS GETS ONE MEDAL AND ONE MEDAL ONLY!!! Seems so inappropriate that some events and sports make up a larger porportion of the total available medals
I understand what you're saying, but it's based on tradition, practicality, and popularity. If you did what you suggested, the games would need to be extended a month!
