Independence was never the issue, as it was, is and always will be our's. The issue is the deliberate lies that have gone on for centuries, issued from Wastemonster and currently being collaborated by Holyrood, which is why neither are willing to publish the Scottish Constitution! The _Act of Union 1707_ was a political and financial agreement and nothing more. _Article 18_ and _19_ made it abundantly clear that the Sovereignty of Scotland was not up for debate and it would remain independent! The articles further made clear that every single man, woman and child were Sovereigns/Lieges, in their own right, therefore were independent! The articles concluded by stating the act was not being signed _in perpetuity_ and that Scotland could walk away from the deal at any point it chose to do so! England co-signed the Act on those terms. Now, does it sound like Wastemonster and Holyrood are being honesty to you?

In other words it's on constant probation and can be sacked without a moment's notice, if the majority of people in Scotland want that. We are already independent. Several legal documents and contracts establish that beyond any doubt. This farce is actually about nullifying a political and financial treaty, however, it is not in the interests of either Holyrood or Wastemonster to make people aware of this, as their power in Scotland is reliant upon the people of both countries remaining ignorant of the legal facts.

Firstly, a lot of those who support independence are not nationalists. Nationalism and wanting independence for our nation are not two in the same. Secondly, it is important to point out that there are various types of nationalism. The one you speak of was racial anti Semitic nationalism. The Scottish National Party is a civic nationalist party. A party that promotes the values of freedom, tolerance, equality, individual rights and has no ethnocentrism. I’m not expressing support for any type of nationalism here. Just pointing out the huge huge difference between the two branches.

@@LordBeauchamp1994 I've studied Scottish History, so yes I do know how the UK was formed, including the Alien Act which more or less forced the hand of the Scottish nobles at the time. The people were not asked back then. In fact there was widespread uproar and rioting amongst the Scottish Population. That was in 1707 though. Its 2023. Its about what matters now. And I could not care less about royalty. Another antiquited institution that belongs to history and not the future. I never once said or even implied that England oppresses Scotland. It does not. England gets what it votes for politically as it rightfully should. What I'm saying is the UK political system is set up in such a way that England decided the political outcomes for Scotland. That is unfair. You can throw the whole xenophobia argument around all you want to try and deflect the basic injustice of democracy that exists within the UK political system but it doesn't wash with those who support independence. We don't live in the past of 1707, empire, royalty etc, we look to the future and where we are now and the see clearly that the UK does not work for us and never will again. It exists only to benefit the South East of England and a select few of the elite. You are correct that a lot of decisions are already made and Funded by the Scottish Parliament. That's devolution. But I agree with so many others like me that ALL politics decisions affecting Scotland should be made by the Scottish Parliament. We can disagree on independence but to state that the whole movement towards Scottish independence is based on xenophobia and entho nationalism is false and quite frankly dangerous. Its a myth that's been peddled in the right wing unionist media for decades to try and discredit our movement. Perhaps you should research the ENGLISH Scots for Yes group. We are an inclusive movement simply seeking independence for our nation just like any other in the world. Are the independent nations that currently exist in the world xenophobic for governing their own affairs?

And I have many friends and acquaintances that assure me the bulk of the independence in Scotland are ethno nationalists. Sure there might be some like you but if almost all of Scotland decisions are already undertaken by Edinburgh what's the need for symbolic independence. Even Ireland today is not truly independent not when it's citizens can work and live in the UK without a visa and Irish can serve in the military of the UK. Basically Ireland traded in the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland for the President and the Republics government is a devolved parliament. Because most geopolitical decisions for Ireland are truly taken by London. Irish military is almost non existent it's England that bears the brunt of everything for the UK. The Scottish are a loved country within the UK and to break up the UK is not only stupid for Scotland it's selfish and dangerous. The UK is already a small nation and is losing its prestige and power on the global chessboard as it is. Now Scotland wants to break that up. I'm telling you no one around the world will care about what Scotland wants geopolitically or economically or militarily if Scotland truly became independent. You are like the Quebec of Canada. They have been passified and see the error of their ways and there hasn't been an independence vote since 1995. If Quebec left Canada it would ruin the nation, same as Scotland don't be so bloody selfish and think about the greater good. The highland regiments are responsible around the world for the prestige and power of Great Britain and later UK. Don't waste it on some trivial political garbage.
