@@ScrapFabricLove I liked that quilt. It’s a crazy idea, but it works so well. And the fact it’s not square or rectangle just adds to its beauty. I’m glad you’ve entered it into another quilt show, it deserves to be shown to the world! 🥰
Wow. Looks like a great show! I loved some of those quilts!!!! And you got to meet Tom! He’s a great quilter, I adore his crisp lines and solid colour blocking. Very talented. Hehe
Your video was wonderful. Thank you. I've traveled to Scotland twice and enjoyed both visits. The quilts on display were very well done. Lots of artists reside there to include you.
We loved this video so much we watched it twice. I'm so glad that we got to see some traditional quilts. Unfortunately, QuiltCon didn't include that category. It look like you had a great show. Thanks for sharing. 😊
Glad you liked it! I’ve never been but my understanding is that Quiltcon is put on by the modern quilt guild which perhaps explains the lack of a traditional category? But others would know better than me!
What a beautiful quilt show....so many unique designs. Thank you for sharing the show - what talent there is in the quilting community! I could sit here in New York, U.S. home and enjoy seeing all these beautiful Scottish-made quilts.
Thank you for sharing the show! I'm surprised Overgrown did not recieve a ribbon, but you entered two quilts. That's amazing in and of itself! Your productivity and creativity are inspiring.
I love the tour. I love that the quilts were more abstract than traditional quilts are. They speak to me. Thanks so much for doing this. Enjoyed it very much and I enjoy your channel. Have a good day.
KRISTEN!! Girl I am so glad that you entered the “Overgrown whatever you called it. 😂”. I think it is absolutely gorgeous and no I’m not just saying it because it’s yours! I’m hope now that you have entered 2 years in a row this will be a running thing with you. It looks like you had a blast and there was just brain/visual overload with everything going on. There were a lot of beautiful quilts in the photos you had posted. Thank you for taking us along with you! Much love! X Laura💙🪡🧵
Wonderful! Thank you for sharing. I’m going back to Scotland from Canada to visit my daughter at Uni in Dundee. This show would have been a definite visit. Last fall I found a lovely little shop in Edinburgh in which I picked up some fabric souvenirs for quilting. 😊
So many beautiful quilts - so much artistry, it's just mind-boggling! One of my favorites (although there were several) was "Zonal Zebra" - so imaginative and the workmanship was gorgeous.
My favorite quilt is the zebra. The perspective of the zebras quilted into the background is amazing. I think that for a non-juried show, the quality of these quilts is wonderful. Thank you for taking these photos and creating this video.
Any suggestions of fabric stores in Edinburgh? I’ll be there in July for a knitting tour to the Shetland Islands. But I’m also an avid quilter. Loved the show. 🙏 ❤
The ones that come to mind are ‘My Bear Paw’, ‘Fabric Focus’ or Edinburgh Fabric Store. My favourite spot for fabric/sewing notions is charity shops in Morningside & Stockbridge (two different Edinburgh neighbourhoods). Those are less predictable to find things but fun to have a rummage in and when you do find something usually it will be a bargain.
Thanks so much for posting this. I am lousy at color, so I like to see other people's color combinations for guidance. As I was watching the segment about the small quilting groups and their challenge quilts it dawned on me that I've never seen that kind of display at quilt shows here in the upper Midwest. Next thought that came to mind was, "I could go to that show next year!"
Thanks! I entered it in the Festival of Quilts last year and I have two other videos with it in - one is called ‘Entering my first quilt show’ that is probably the best one to see more about it if you are keen.
I love the irregular border on your flower quilt! Very nice photography on the quilts! I'm impressed you got your uncle's quilt done and still got to enter two quilts in the show. They made the show better!
The two I entered were ones I made before. The overgrown one I entered to another show last year so it already had the hanging sleeve sewn on - so easy to enter that one! The plus sign one was from January last year so it’s been finished for a good while!
Wow! There was a lot of awesome quilts there. Yours really was one of my favorites...the scrap buster one. Not that I don't like the other one. But I just love that one.
Thanks for sharing your visit to quilt show. Lots of eye candy to dazzle and inspire. I chuckled at the hexie variation of Grandmothers Flower Garden! Beautiful quilting and color play. Again I thank you. 😊
I saw some very interesting quilts in this video. It was nice to see other people's designs and ideas. Thanks for sharing perspectives from your part of the world.
@@ScrapFabricLove after looking into Juko Designs I believe I am headed down yet another rabbit hole with stick weaving. I love her wall hanging with various circles.
@@ScrapFabricLoveso have you done anything with that weaving kit yet? I’ve been doing a bunch of stick weaving after watching their video. I’ve thrifted most of my yarns. I’m loving it.
@fransak2723 I’ve been doing some practice weaving and finished a little wall hanging but haven’t finished anything I would use in a quilt yet. On my list!
Wow that was super ty! Definitely some awesome talent in Scotland. Your quilts fit in no problem It will only be a matter of time before you win a ribbon. 🩷 Did they give you a review?
