When I was a little girl we where given a spayed female Scottie. She was the sweetest most loving dog ever. She lived to be over 15 years old. I'm almost 70 years old now and I still miss her.
I have been a Scottie Mom for 15 years. My 1st two went to heaven a few years ago. I have two girls now Miss Jenna & Heather. They are so very precious.
Pros and cons ... no cons to a Scottie. They can be trained, love their small humans, don't dig that much, are soft, a stand up comedian, body guard, love soccer balls and playing hide and seek
Let's hear it for all the original Scottie owners who let us use their images/clips in the video. Check out more of their content on their respective Instagram profiles. What do you like the most about Scottish Terriers? Let us know in the comments below!
Guess it depends -- my mom had five Scotties and four were lapdogs. In fact, with her last two -- you couldn't sit down without having a dog on your lap within 10-15 seconds.
We have a Scottie, and he’s the best dog we ever had. His first need in the hierarchy of needs is play time. He bucks the trend of other Scotties in that he loves strangers, especially children. They are great dogs!
I agree scotties are the best. I raised 5 scottie puppies. I loved each one best. They did not dig ever. They were female. Maybe that has a bearing on the digging. I miss my scotties. I had scotties with me for 42 years. Too old for another. ❤
We had two Scottie(mix): Tramp, and later, his daughter Scamp. Super cool pooches-really smart, loyal, affectionate. Best ever 😢still miss them decades later.
Scotties are the best.. I raised 5 scotties from puppies. I loved each one best. They can be stubborn. Though they are very sensitive. Scotties make lovely pets. They are very loyal to their family. Mine got a walk everyday, they love their walks. Also love to play, they will have a favorite toy..I miss my last girl Ivy. Too old for another😢. ❤❤❤
Had a total of 5, 2 rescues, 1 inherited and 2 pups. Just lost my best friend a week ago. These dogs can be Einsteins. Very smart. Mine was ball driven. Hated other dogs and people around his domain but going to the vet, dog park or groomers was a perfect gentleman. Jocko is now in doggie heaven with his brothers and sisters. Only 8.4 yrs. old. Kidney failure.
A Scottie was the best dog we ever had... he was far too timid to be a show dog (which is what he was bred for). It turns out, a Scottie with a more mellow and/or timid personality rounds out the edges of the breed. Being slightly lower energy meant he liked slightly less exercise and outside time and wouldn't mind curling up with you for a nap at all. It meant he never had that independent and sometimes defiant streak that is associated with the breed; typically they can get into trouble if they are bored. He also had a bit less of a prey drive, and if you spend a bit of time playing a certain way he won't feel the need to dig (hide toys under the blankets, move them with your hand and have him "dig" under them to get at it). Perfect dog, perfect little gentleman. He never bit or growled at anyone, wonderful with children (so very delicate with the baby). You hear the term "loyal to a fault" thrown around with the breed but it applies; if you take care of them they will always have your back... even the ones the video talked about seeming "aloof" once you have their trust and respect you have it for life. The only pain is the brushing (and you have to be very gentle) and you're looking at at least once a week. A good groomer can take care of everything else. It's worth it though since he looked so handsome, and he loved wearing bandanas around his neck... he had such a personality you could TELL when he got done at the groomers he knew he looked good haha. Strangest thing of all he NEVER barked... not once. He would go "woo woo woo" and try to talk to you like a little person. XD
They always seem like an intelligent dog bc of the one from 101 Dalmatians, that’s actually the only one I’ve ever seen. I can’t even remember seeing one in real life.
We have a chihuahua terrier mix. He sides more of a chihuahua. He loves to play. He's 7 pounds and very little. Spoiled and wants to cuddle all the time. A little jealous . Its funny cause he has the blond wired hair like a terrier.. But it goes down his back 😂 like a skunk. His feet are hairy like the Grinch and he has a little beard and white hair on the top of his head like a human with a bad haircut 😂. His eyes and nose are terrier features as well. He is so spoiled.
Wow, a Chihuahua Terrier mix? Sounds like you have an adorable and unique companion. Thank you for sharing a glimpse into the delightful personality and appearance of your Chihuahua Terrier mix. Sounds like he brings a lot of joy and laughter into your life. What’s his name?🐾❤️
@Dogs Wiz 1:36 and 4:37 I say could be one of his parents and the other I would say an iitty bitty blond chihuahua. His real name is Rex, but also goes by the name Pippers and Pipsqueak (which I call him). It's funny cause he will answer to all 3 names. 🤣🤣🤣
