Maybe Scott’s rapid grass is only 2x faster than the regular Scott’s seed? I am currently in week 3-4 of a similar experiment in my yard with Bermuda. I seeded with rapid grass in a small area that needed to be filled in with dirt and then a week later decided to drop some seed across the rest of the yard that was patchy and full of weeds. So I went out and bought a big bag that wasn’t the rapid grass. Now the rapid grass patches are still just starting to come in and I see no progress on the regular seed anywhere else in the yard. Im watering every day and just waiting it out. I’ll give it till the end of summer before I give up on the experiment and if I don’t get any improvement I’m thinking about doing a more official renovation this fall to prep for next year.

On the 7th day I looked out and it was everywhere. Not super thick,but really filled in the areas planted. So we will see how it goes from here. I may water once a day lightly. Truth be told. It normally take 7 to 14 days for seed to germinate, it also depends on how deep you buried the seed, should be right below the soil. Also hopefully you did not use a pre emergent this spring. That will affect the seed planting. I would imagine it will be great sounds like your off to a good start. I’m sure your already aware, seeding is a slow process. Keep it moist but not wet. Now let me ask you, is it possible to over seed? My grass is fine , I just wish it to be much thicker, what would you recommend?
@MyGreenLawn2019
@MyGreenLawn2019 2 года назад
@@hudabomb28 do you have a cool season lawn such as Turf Type Tall Fescue? Yes you can over seed that. Some people prefer a spring time over seed, some prefer a fall time over seed, personally I like spring, as long as you can get it down early enough. Hope that helps. Be sure your able to water it often till it establishes itself.

Don’t when you add fertilizer with a smart seed will burn it out?
@MyGreenLawn2019
@MyGreenLawn2019 9 месяцев назад
That's not true. It will not burn out. Just like with any fertilizer you can not over do it. Heck, I proved it in my experiment, I been doing it for years with great success. Now I'm talking about using a starter fert, not just any old fertilizer. Because, smart seed and rapid grass both have fertilizer in them already. Thanks for stopping by

My rapid grass was grown in thick within 2 weeks. Not sure what happened with yours.

That’s awesome I’m glad you had good luck with it. I tried it many times as you seen in the video. I have talked to many others who have also had issues with the Scott’s rapids grass. That’s awesome that you were successful. Question is yours a southern lawn mix or cool season. Just curious

Never had much luck with any Scott's products, coated seeds, grub killer, etc...their stuff just don't seem to work :-( wasted enough money with this company...

That's why I choose Pennington Smart Seed, works great. Scotts does have some products that aren't to bad, but their Rapid Grass is junk.. Thanks for stopping by

@@MyGreenLawn2019 I have this annoying cud weed killing my Burmuda grass, I’ll have to dig it up by hand. Thanks he grass barely coming up. I don’t want to use chemical because the animals eat on the land. Does this grass self spread and turns dark green?

I bought the pennington smart grass. If it don't perform its going back. I'm not paying for crap that don't live up anymore.

I would totally agree with you. Just be sure you keep the seed moist at all times, do not let the soil dry out for at least 7 to 14 days. I hope you got something out of the video! Thanks for commenting

That’s a very good question. I really like Scott’s seed and I truly expected better results. I did call Scott’s to try and get some answers, but no one wanted to talk to me.

I think there was less seed in the Scott’s you put in. The Pennington smart seed had more seed per gram. So you would need to put more weight if Scott’s down

I appreciate your input for sure. I gave Scott’s every chance to succeed, I like Scott’s seed but the Rapid Grass is junk. I did multiple experiments inside and outside Scott’s rapid grass failed every time. I’m just presenting my results, these videos take months to produce it’s very hard. If you trust Scott’s rapid grass, feel free to use it. I personally wouldn’t waste my money on it. Thanks for taking the time to comment
