Imagine if a bunch of SCP fans got together and tried to recreate the play IRL, would you go to see it if you could? And note that there will be no anomalous affects from watching it.
The scariest thing about the play is that it doesn't meet the criteria for a tragedy. The hero has no discernible fatal flaw and lives happily ever after.
maybe the hanged king scp exists because the story shown is a censored/false one and the entity despises the fact that the play is a mockery and proceeds to give everyone a slight taste of what really happened perhaps the people watching are members of the audience are infact considered the subjects of the king by the entity and a real riot took place back in the day for who knows what reason, which could also explain why the actors make sudden changes to the script, perhaps the hanged king is trying to fix the play into the true tragedy to the best of his ability.
@@ngwingman7899 i think this is a subchannel of the infographics show so they might have just used the same models and exchange different assets like clothes, hair, etc.
Neeeerds! I’m kidding, but only a little bit. I’m actually quite jealous that you can read without getting bored quickly, High School ruined literature for me.
@@joejr1120 I’m split between physical and audiobooks. Depending on your tastes pick up the black library warhammer audiobooks app Super pricey but good stock if you like warhammer r
@@coredefect6134 I highly recommend American gods by Neil gaiman and going postal by terry pratchett. American gods is about the battle between old gods and new gods and the people stuck in the middle. Going postal is about a con man tasked with getting a fantasy cities postal service working, or he'll be hung
I've always thought SCP to be a rather boring subject, but after watching video, after video, after video- I ended up in this massive lore pool that I haven't gotten out of yet. Thanks for making my Quarantine just a bit more better, SCP Explained. I also haven't finished any of my assignments yet. *Cough*
So basically it's a play that starts out as a diet version of a Shakespearean tragedy that evolves into an actual version of a Shakespearean tragedy that turns the entire audience into even more violent versions of sports fans, got it.
Rarest events on earth: - solar eclipses - eggs with two yolks - the 29th of February - ps5 restocks - two scp channels literally releasing the same video on the same day
Nice video but the shrouded entity (SCP 701-1) is NOT the hanged king, it’s the Ambassador of Allegada. During the play it’s mentioned that the Ambassador is coming to collect a Boone & tribute FOR the hanged king. The hanged king is literally nailed down to his thrown. He has 3 mask wearing (technically 2 bcuz 1 was cast out to a “dreaded back water dimension) subjects who along with the Ambassador personally oversee Allegada. The city of Allegada has an SCP designation (I forgot right now) and has been explored by multiple MT’s as well as a few foundation Dr.’s. You should make a THOROUGH (can’t be truncated or you’ll do everyone a disservice) video on the City of Allegada and the exploratory logs, tales and other associated SCP’s (trust me they’re are some). It’ll make GREAT content!
@@aeaeeaoiaueaI didn’t want to deviate from the subject at hand but yes you are correct. I believe he/it was described as THE WEARER OF THE ANGUISHED MASK” ☹️ (now all emojis like this one, photos, drawings, etc., must all immediately change to the frown face LOL) 👺👺
I love how the animator(s) for this channel is sorta like, "I think I'm going to do as much animation as possible. Every single sentence should have at least one scene to go with it."
You know it would actually be kinda cool to see a live performance titled The Hanged King's Tragedy where part of it included actors as SCP task force agents burst in and stop the play; or is that just a weird and funny thought in my head?
The SCP Foundation should just copyright the play lmao. If the do, then they can use legal groups to just enforce that no one acts out the play / script (they could use a false script verision too. A re-write that's close to the original).
This scp isn't super dangerous but the suspense is so amazing I want a short film based on this with hapless characters who cant quite figure out what's wrong and the foundation slowly learning about the latest performance but failing to stop it in time
Love this idea... or they could consider the audience expendable compared to the poor sap that's live-streaming it to their RU-vid channel... (compared to the barely-prevented BBC broadcast)
The guys who do the narration for this, you all have the perfect and quintessential voices for narration and story telling. I love just putting these videos on and letting them roll. Thank you
I argue what makes this SCP dangerous is how it affected the cast that is supposed to perform this piece. As the video said, the plot that the troupe played out is wildly divergent from the printed script, with dialogues that shouldn't exist and cut scenes reinstalled. Oh, and the ending is different... Which isn't a surprised since the play is based on The King in Yellow, a fictional "forbidden" play in Robert Chamber's horror book anthology "The King in Yellow" (which is also based on Cthulhu mythos)...
SCP author, Metaphysician, writes highly rated SCPs than can be linked to the Hanged King mythos. "Il Maestro del Rancore" is one of his unapproved, yet intriguing SCP works. It can still be found online.
Few of us are screenwriters who work on this full time to adapt the stories we think would make a great video, then we work tightly with a few animators. We are a small team that lives and breathes everything SCP.
Theader teacher: today class we are going to be reading through a new scrip for a new play I found! Me: what play is it? Theader teacher: its called "The Hanged King's Tragedy" Me: *sweating profusely*
Hey guys I work in theatre and I can assure you that 99.9% of theatre productions don’t have outcomes like this so please don’t stay away from theatre productions just because of this one unfortunate SCP. You’re soooooo unlikely to be involved in a mass casualty event
The ambassador of Alagadda that gave Gonzalo the undetectable poison is also an scp in that universe that serves the hanged king. and the hanged king himself is an entirely different scp with a different story than the play who is known as a tyrant in city state in a different dimension. Both the king and the ambassador are powerful cosmic entities with one being the mobile servant of the former travelling the multiverse. the foundation even maintains a mission in the city of the hanged king look up SCP-701-1 SCP-2264-4 SCP-2264-5
The goblin market and now the hanged king. It's interesting to see how much from classic literature has made it into the SCP world. It makes me wonder if the king in yellow is an SCP. The yellow sign would certainly count as a memeic hazard.
It's a story that must be told one way or another. Given that it happens at intervals, it's possible that the play itself is an scp that if not played every so often it will release its self to the public. It does so inorder to make sure it doesn't go untold. Maybe the foundation should consider using D class to recreate the play in order to prevent it.
I think I remember hearing something about this being inspired by or tied to that story. It wouldn't be the first time they used H. P. Lovecraft's stuff in SCP. There is SCP 2662: Cthulhu.
Exactly what I was thinking. Interestingly, there's a real-life counterpart to the King in Yellow: by some reports, there was a riot over Stravinsky's _The Rite of Spring_ the night it opened, and the choreographer later had a mental breakdown (which was probably unrelated… probably).
Thanks for showing this SCP!! This gave me motivation to do an insanely horrific- well not that horrific comic for a while, *if* I could actually draw it Oh and I'm 63!
This guy is the reason I end up reading about SCPs. I read his video about 2264 before going to articles so I had a basic idea. I’m watching this so I have more context about who the Hanged King and the Ambassador is. God I love SCP.
Hey guys just wanted to say you're doing a great job with this channel, anytime college isn't murdering my brain I'm here watching your vids, its interesting, love the writing and the animations are rlly cool! Keep it up!
Scarlet, Sealed, Hanged... Looks like we need some Kingslayer SCP that have power to erase memetic influence of "Royal Court" on us. Like, giving doubts in our reality warping abilities with our choice and beliefs. Simple as that.
701 isn't just a play. It's a dangerous, dangerous, hazard that has a hint of eldritch abomination seasoning within it. In turn, it becomes the most dangerous play in the history of the Foundation Database. Side Note: You guys should cover the SCP connected to it: it revolves around the anomalous location called Alagadda
The scp number is 2264, it also connects to 035 (Is brought up in almost every article, he is the black Lord/the anguished Lord), 049 (the doctor that appears in the main series of stories) and 2316 (brought up in a separate story (There Are No Children In Alagadda) like once)
I'm a bookworm and rarely go to theatres. After this video, I am never going to the theatre again. As for cinemas, and movies, I'll just watch them on my computer.
Who else noticed that Trinculo, Antonio and Gonzalo are all characters from SHAKESPEARE'S the tempest? Maybe that one person trying to find a more "family friendly" play was actually anomalous, and this was a creation of his imagination/needs. Who knows?
That is a very interesting SCP, but now I have a doubt. If the play was ever adapted to animation instead of theater would still have the same effect or be inofensive as when reading the script?
