i kind of love how all kinds of scps in this game are scary in different ways with 096 you know that if you trigger him he is really fast and on a hunt to get you pretty much the only thing being able to protect you is that he cant bust down doors like those at the gates or 914 with 106 he is scary because he cannot be stopped by any door but he is able to be dealt with and he is pretty slow etcetera

When I played containment breach for the first time I always thought some monster spawned when I heard that noise lol. My first 096 encounter was similar. I just noped the f out after I triggered him in his containment chamber mission. Imagine my face when the awful music didn't stop and suddenly all you hear is that cursed scream. It was back when 096 was hanging out in the timed gas chamber room. Scared the living f out of me when he straight up opened the door behind me and jumped me.

That was my guess too :] but I tried it again last night, triggered him and then entered the pocket dimension and waited about 10-15 minutes and he never showed :[ I got stood up by 096 :[

NPCs, unfortunately, can't interact with portals left behind by 106. 096's AI works by chasing you if you are not far enough away from him. However, if you do get far enough away from him, he will teleport to a room closer to the room you reside in randomly. In this case, 106's PD is generated to the left of the LCZ of the SCP Foundation, so since you were far enough away from 096, he teleported to the PD and that's how he killed you.

Ooooh, that's interesting to know, thanks. What about 1499's dimension though? I sat in there for about 15 minutes waiting for him and he never showed :[

I haven't looked into the files for this one, however I do have a good guess as to why 096 doesn't appear within 1499's dimension. I have reason to suspect that 1499's dimension is to the right of the EZ of the SCP Foundation and though it is infinitely big, you can never get back on mainland because it's within a loop; that is, if you take out a S-Nav within 1499's dimension and move to a certain direction constantly, you will always loop back to the same tile you entered the dimension in. In this sense, 1499's dimension is a tile big. 096's AI prevents him from spawning into the same room you're in, so that's why 096 will chase you in the same sense as if you are not far enough away from him. I can confirm my educated guess when I get to updating that part of the game for the unofficial/official version 1.4. Also, I look forward to giving the player an option to change 173's collision value; v1.3.7 is harder than v1.3.8 because 173's collision value was higher, therefore blocking you from entering rooms.
