I liked using the same paper selections to have continuity throughout an album---it was nice to listen to hints and tips about what is pleasing to the eye and connects your work! Very easy to follow, thank you!
I really appreciated what you said at the end about not feeling bad if you're "behind" :) I often forget that i took up scrapbooking for my own relaxation, not to add another stressor. "Anything you get done is a bonus!" Love it.
Love your layouts! I can relate to them especially because they are quick and so beautiful and practical to use for example, my childrens educational history. Thank you!
Thank you! Great system! I think I have heard about Phi once before, but never paid attention. I certainly didn't think about applying it to scrapbooking. That is brilliant! You are very artistic and knowledgeable.
I fail to keep things simple so this is a great idea. Will try to remember this at a crop. I would have trimmed off the part of the blue that wasn't showing and it would have been a big enough piece to repeat as a 5" on another page or for mats. TFS
I'll got a ?I'll got some black and whites photos What colors would go with them?I'll love animaleprints and flowers Pastels and solidsWhat would u use?
With black and white photos, you can use pretty much anything. A lot of scrapbookers pull their color scheme directly from the photo, but with black and white, unless you're going monochromatic (which could be very dynamic) you can choose anything. I would try to decide the story you're going to tell. Is it a wedding photo? Is it a small child? Is it a heritage photo? What do you know or remember about the photo? Once you have that figured out, think about the colors that memory or event inspires. Maybe it's a bittersweet memory, so you want to go more earthy colors that aren't bright and cheery. Or maybe it is a really happy summer memory, so you go for your favorite bright color combination. Whichever way you decide, I think the pages that look best with black and white photos have analogous color schemes. So the colors are right next to each other on the color wheel.
What is an atg? I am trying to online search it (Michael's site too) but not getting anywhere. Perhaps need to whole name instead of just the initials. I am brand new, haven't begun to collect supplies so making a list of basic needs. This preferable to glue sticks?
ATG refers to the 3M Scotch Advanced Tape Glider. It's the big pink tool I use in the video. Most people just refer to it as the ATG. I prefer it to most other types of glue. It's double sticky tape that is really strong, although it is flexible enough that you can move something if you need to right after you put it down. I don't use glue sticks. This is my go to.
Damn, I see Michael"s has one for $45.00! Being that have only started looking at tutorials to see what supplies I need....I don't think I can afford that :( I live on soc sec disability income. Anything else like that that you know of? Or should I just deal with glue sticks until I see how it goes? Loved your video BTW :)
There are a lot of options for tape runners that would be more inexpensive, but I think the ATG is worth it just because it lasts so long. Maybe try a couple of the smaller ones until the ATG goes on sale or you have a 60% off coupon. I do think the Xyron is good, as well as one called the Sticky Thumb. Both are small and refillable. Thanks for watching my video!
Thanks for that advice! Yes, I want the good one and am sure it is worth the money! Will for sure be getting one but got soooo much supplies to get me going. maybe put it on my gift list and as I just typed that, I looked on Amazon (we have prime too, free shipping) so I put on my wish list there and it is only $21.46!!!! My boyfriend will maybe do for me ;) thanks for all the advice!
What i dont like about alot of this scrapbooking stuff is all of it was bought. Not one design or embellishment was MADE, just arranged. Its just a money sucker.
I absolutely understand what you're saying. In this case, I was specifically using the Echo Park collection kit, but in other layouts, I make the embellishments or use mixed media techniques to create my background. Just a different style. I think it's all personal preference.
Video is too too long. Almost 30 minutes for that one sheet. Many videos speed up the film while they are "working". With a lot less talking. I fell asleep, no kidding. When I woke up 15 minutes later .... it looked the same. You do nice work, but please, that video could have been completed in 10 minutes.
Wow you talked for 6 minutes straight with very little changing on the video. Would've been nicer if you got.straight into demonstrating and talking as you worked
