Hello everyone! In Episode 15 of my Scrapping for Copper series, I completely disassembled a broken tower fan. I wanted to see how much copper was used in the manufacturing process. After scrapping it out completely, I weigh up all the copper that was pulled from it. I chuckled at the how to recycle label on the side. Over my dead body would I give away valuable copper to some recycling center. They can keep the plastic, haha!
If you enjoyed this video, perhaps you may enjoy one of the many scrap sessions done on this playlist linked below:

I have always been amazed how cheap stuff is made and the cost they sell them for. Makes me love my wood art even more 😊

Hey S2C. Nice Teardown vid! not much copper but it adds to the stack. do you collect up all the copper from the series to one day melt it all down? this would be a nice video of its own. looking forward to the motor tear down video, see u there mate! have a nice weekend! 👊

Thank you mate! I’ve actually been cashing it in for extra funds to help pay down some credit cards. Once I secure a permanent melting spot I’ll start hanging onto it again. Thanks for watching my friend! 🙂👊🏼🍻☮️

The cost of these fans lie within the oil and wood used to produce them. Plastic framing, about 5% cost, wrappings, 2%. Boxing, 2%. 3% electronics and wiring. 2% waste. Shipping 35%. 51% split between manufacturers, designers, and sellers. Now these are my guesstimations, but I think it's fairly accurate. But it stands to reason why so little is recovered from these scrappings. But free is free plus time and effort to get the most out of these products. Now I have to finish my projects before too long. Good luck with your projects.

I’m willing to bet you are correct with your guesstimates! I miss the good old days where quality took precedence. Now it’s just make it as cheap as possible to the point it breaks one day after the manufacturers warranty runs out. Thanks for watching brother and good luck with your projects! 🙂👊🏼🍻☮️
