That solder joint, I think you would have been better off cutting a slit in the rod wide enough to slip that flat stock between the slit and then soldering them together, this would make a stronger joint than a butt joint. You've done really good work on the aircraft. My thoughts are during flight the vibration caused by the motor and the air moving over the flat bar will weaken the solder butt joint over time and might lead to the failure of the flying wires.

You are correct although I don’t have anything precise enough. My cut off wheel was the same thickness as the screws

Great stuff. You definitely have the talent to be a great modeler. Thanks again for the shout out for my channel too, it helps (Grant Aston).

I’ll try and update the description. I’ll see if I can find a link to the the Mick Reeves ends.

Where did you get the wire? I have a bipe in the works that I would like to add fling wire to.

@@fromthegrounduprc It is an old SIG kit that was partially assembled. Fortunately the guy that did it knew what he was doing. I'm putting an OS 65AX Glow engine in it. It wasn't covered, so I'm doing a traditional dope/cover-all covering, and adding flying wires will add a nice touch. I really appreciate your build videos. Especially the "git-er-done" attitude you have about it. Thanks for all the info! Oh, Look up tail number N33RP for the color scheme!

that joint is the weakest part of the wire butt joint no good you done it as best as you could i would overlap on the fitting 10 mm use silver solder rod with flux and round off put heat shrink over would look ok if those wires break you will have the walk of shame

I do plan on doing a test to see how much they will hold
