#Scream6 #Ghostface Ghostface hits the big apple in Scream VI, but does it hold a candle to the previous films? Here is my spoiler free review of the film... Enjoy!
I absolutely loved it!!! I think it nailed all of the aspects it needed too. I don't think this movie was about the reveal.. this movie was more about character development to get us to connect to new legacy characters and they did that. I honestly don't have many complaints at all.
I was conflicted at first but rewatching it helped me love the movie because my expectations negatively affected my first viewing. I expected Scream 6 to be a lot different but at the end it's a love letter to the franchise. I'll give it a 4/5
This film was clearly rushed into production after the reception of the last one (which I didn’t even care for that much). The lack of Sidney is really bizarre considering she’s the heart of this whole franchise. In my opinion, no Sidney no Scream. This series has run its course and not even the meta commentary can save it at this point. These last 2 movies have felt so damn corny
Almost identical to my views, Chris. I am a massive fan of this franchise. I want to love everything about the franchise, but I just couldn't get into this after the reveal, as well as the wounds suffered throughout the movie. My only difference from you is I prefer part 5. The "core 4" were less annoying in part 5. The meta-commentary was too much for me. Especially since it came mostly from Mindy who was too annoying in this one.
It’s odd when people have such high expectations of a part 6. Dewey suffered massive attacks in two movies and always lived. Why is there a different standard now? It’s silly.
@@dench2695 these ones are a lot more ridiculous than Dewey's attacks. And Dewey is so much more lovable that you're thrilled that he's pulled through. These new characters, you're just begging for them to get it
@@Tmhoop91 her delivering is like nails on a chalkboard and she has absolutely none of the charisma that Randy had. She's just a very obnoxious character
I’m my opinion, the only non campy serious third acts I’ve seen from the franchise was in scream one and scream four, the rest have been kinda meh but that’s the point. once you enjoy the third act for the goofiness and the craziness you can truly appreciate these films, therefore Scream 6 paid good homage and did a good job with this film.
I loved this movie so much! I really want to see it again because there was a group of girls that kept talking loudly and throwing stuff during the movie.
I was hesitant; Scream without Sid, Scream in New York, I worried it wouldn't feel like Scream at all, but somehow it felt more like Scream than the last film did (and I loved that one). It was a love letter to the franchise as a whole, there were so many easter eggs (not just the obvious ones in the shrine) that just felt so satisfying, and at the same time it felt appropriately new. There were a few neat little things that just made me smile because they seemed so obvious but we had never seen them before. These last two films have been made with the utmost care for the franchise and I respect the hell out of that, and yeah it verges into ludicrous on occasion but what slasher film doesn't? What Scream film doesn't? We suspend disbelief with the franchise as a whole, no reason we shouldn't do the same here.
I really loved the movie I thought it was tense when it needed to be but the motive was a bit weak to really convince me otherwise really strong scream movie
Agreed. I understand they want to make it a franchise… but this movie and the last did an amazing job with it Feeling like a scream movie…. And we get to the endings and don’t really feel much because we don’t care about the people being talked about
I'm in almost 100% agreement with you Chris. I found the score kind of generic and non memorable, kind of repetitive, and some of the pacing bad as well, but in general I agree with you entirely. Some of the acting was downright hokey too. Brilliant marketing, but the overall film was disappointing. I want new directors and writers for Scream 7.
I’d love it if scream 7 took place on an island resort in like Hawaii and ghostface hunts the survivors of 6 only for them to all find out it’s run and owned by a ghostface cult and all the staff and Danny are in on it. They would also worship Stu who is in a vegetative state.
I agree I felt like it was trying to be Friday the 13th. Still loved the franchise but I still am not sure how I feel about that ending either. You said it best I found myself thinking how are they still alive? I think I was doing the same focusing on how they were still walking and got lost in plot
I'm going to see it tomorrow. Trying so hard to avoid spoilers. Have heard some mixed reviews with some either feeling how you did and others saying it was god awful
It's good. These people are gonna complain about anything . They are turning into starwars fan boys and girls. The laughing thing he was saying didn't make sense. I mean did stu , mickey, amber , Richie ext not all laugh and act out at the end of their films ? I think they are taking this to seriously.
@@brandonayala4605 it's just some people like this channel and some people in the comments complaining about it. I've seen alot of people that loved it and hated it for some reason. 3 is the one they should be hating lol. But I thought it was good. People are always gonna hate
I think it was a good movie i thought the movie would be a little longer but it went by to quick I feel like they rushed the movie it’s better than 5 but to me I didn’t really see to much Ghostface or good kills we got little simple kills I was expecting Ghostface to be more aggressive with the kills and the reveal was twisting but I still liked it I feel if I didn’t watch the spoiler killer reveal I would have thought different but I still enjoyed it
Chris, you missed the best opportunity to have the best ending to this episode: ...As you say your usual ending phrase, you're interupted by the infamous quote from the first "Scream" movie, "What's your favorite scary movie?" Then, the "Ghost-face" that was behind you the entire episode steps forward, and holds a knife to your throat. You look down in shock, and then the camera cuts to black. End credits... 👻👻👻💀😱
The ending is awesome. It’s not simple but it’s not Sidney’s long lost brother either so if you’re expecting a jaw drop during the killer reveal of this franchise then you should only be watching the first couple and then be aware this franchise isn’t for you. The killer reveals are meant to make sense. Not to stick Gale as a killer or Someone you thought died. Idk why people want realism but for killer reveal they want zombie Stu Macher lol come on
I feel like for the most part with the exception of the first Scream, everybody is a monologuing over the top nut job out for vengeance or are obsessed with the murders and it's really cheesy and repetitive but I will say, I did still have a really good time with this movie and it's one of my favorites. The reveal didn't ruin the movie for me personally and as for the over dramatic monologue at the end...well, it's the Scream franchise, love it or hate it it's a given with this franchise. I do agree that once everything comes together, it does seem like it's kind of a lot to do all that because of their motive. It's still a suspenseful and brutal film and a fun time regardless, I'm a very casual fan though, so maybe that's why I could enjoy it for what it was.
I feel like the reveal made sense and was simple “revenge”. I did guess it halfway through but still enjoyed it. Yes I agree more the cast should be in the morgue.
Honestly I feel like the issues with it were purposely done. We have a had like twenty years of horror movies and even action movies that are totally ridiculous and people die or don't from either severe or stupid shit and yeah I just feel like that was purposely done as a jab at those movies. Scream after all has always imitated or taken jabs at clichés from horror movies either around the same time or from the 80's
The movie’s can’t use that as an excuse or cop-out for lazy writing though. Scream 5 used it’s reboot trope to be a retread of the first movie, even having it set in the same house at the end, but it all felt contrived and sloppily done. Billy having a kid is such a ridiculous concept, and the way the “legacy” characters were handled was terrible. Aside from Dewey, Sidney and Gale were just kinda there and barely contributed anything.
Honestly I see so many people praising this film and giving it a 7-9 and putting this film as their #2 of the series but to be honest I just don’t see it. The first half of the film is very strong but like Chris said the 2nd half is just a tad bit too far fetched, I found the whole later half to be trying too hard and because of that it gets too cartoony, and that ending song choice was so cringe, it honestly was completely off tone from the film. Scream IV although having the strongest first half in the series, really trips on its own robe and falls flat at the end, there’s no point in having a good start if you fumble at the finish line. Imo not better than Scream 5 and it’s a solid 6- 6.5/10
Great movie. I loved it Chris and Ghostface was very brutal. It keeps you on the edge of your seat from beginning to end that's for sure. Just a great movie, only thing that disappointed me was that my boy Stu Macher didn't return 😂 my thoughts exactly Chris was how did they survive. Some of the stabs really disappointed me....I was like huh....OK? Any other stab wound to the gut like some in 6 I was like....how.
The reveal wasn't that bad of you look at the parallel between 5 and 1 and now 6 and 2 plus the whole over lying tone of the movie fits well just in the moment on the first watch it can seem lack luster
The 2 leads were great. You believe the sisterly bond. But boy this film had serious issues. The acting by most of the cast was terrible and it was too violent with multiple stabbing a victim. It looked ridiculous and over done especially the survivors. Totally unrealistic. This would never happen under Wes Craven. The reveal was terrible and an anticlimax, miscast cop actor. What I loved was the seeing the museum of memorabilia set but it wasn't effectively utilised. I wanted those ghostfaces to come alive and one of them to scare the group. To me Kirby was the best thing in it, she stole the show, seeing her brought familiarity and genuine affection for her character.
I think that everyone's dislike the ending. That at the end they were scared to kill people. So many characters were brutally stabbed and like mins later running around like nothing happened.
Must have seen a different movie . Which ones where running around? Mindys girl that could hardly walk and they had to help ? Mindy with the arm wound? Mindy with the stomach wound that someone had to help her up and set her down ? I'm just trying to think of all the other people running around 😆
@Somersfam Tara got stabbed in the back & the front. It's not no little 4" pocket blade either, and she was running around like she forgot she a stabbed character. That thing is long. And Mindy got stabbed in the stomach twice. One twisted. And she ran to her group at the end of the movie instead of being in the hospital. Both Chad & Kirby were practically turned to Swiss cheese. And both of them were alive at the end.
@@obedreyes7737 kirby wasn't in this film. I think your taking a scream film to seriously. You may have to go back and watch the older ones cause I think people got stabbed on there and lived. Have you seen how many times sid, Dewey ect got stabbed lol.
I wasn't a fan of Scream 5 at all and Scream wasn't much better for me unfortunately. The franchise seems to be going in a direction I don't particularly care for so I think I'm just gonna check out at this point.
saw the film last night and actually enjoyed it and felt 6 was a step up from 5, but the ending was a little weak , but I still enjoyed it 👍wasn't expecting the opening ...I'll give it 👻👻👻👻 4 out of five ghosts lol 😆
The franchises loose their attraction for me as they go on and the original cast disappears due to being killed or the actor reads the script and just decides this is so stupid I can't be a part of this. Ha! I saw part of the original 2 days ago and it brought back some nostalgic feelings for the original cast!
Yeah it's really bad. Knew the main killer soon as the character started fake crying like a cartoon character. And the 2 younger killers are garbage. I'm trying not to spoil.
I would agree , saw the film last night and actually enjoyed it and felt they did better with 6 than 5, but the ending was a little weak, but I still enjoyed it 👍
How so? Revenge is almost always the reason for these films and reasons for the killers no? Richie was right fans are always gonna bitch and be toxic. The fans for scream are turning into star wars fans and last its a horror movie and he's complaining about how people survived stab wounds. Umm has this guy seen the other films ? Chad got the shit stabbed out of him from amber and he survived. They did the same shit with Dewey in 1 and 2 . For the laughing killers , umm weren't they happy they were getting what they wanted? Did stu not laugh and go crazy at the end? Did mickey not do the same act at the end of 2 ? Did Richie and amber not do laughing? I mean has this dude seen 3 hahaha that's the Scooby-Doo one 😅. last its a fictional film, people are gonna live bro. Sorry you guys were so hurt by a scream movie.
@@Deanhughes5707 well you just fk did 😆 you basically said there is 3 killers to people that haven't said it yet and if they read your comment and go watch it they are gonna catch on right away. People aren't as smart as you . Bye
I'm 100% with you. The killer reveal was pretty bad, not to ruin the whole experience but close. Also the fact that people is capable to survive and endure such of wounds destroyed the grounded story this franchise started as
For everyone saying the end is silly, don't forget these movies are meant to be comedies. Different generations write comedy differently, so I'm not bent. This movie was so fun and I was laughing throughout.
@Final Consensus There is a difference between a parody and a comedy. Scream has always been a meta commentary, dark comedy horror franchise. Scary Movie was a parody of Scream's and other's popularity. Just like Airplane did with classic disaster movies. There is a huge difference.
This is supposed to be the most “ brutal/scariest “ Ghostface ? It should be serious instead I found myself laughing the whole time. They missed the mark.
I love the scream films, I was dubious about this one from the trailer but wanted to like it, but god it was pretty awful, the whole third act was a total mess but I was done before that😂
It was ok, I won't be one of those people that says "ner its fucking shit" but it wasnt....good. Very lazy reveal at the end and plot armor is very very thick, like super thick. While many will lynch me for this, Scream 3 is better. I at least had a blast with 3. I really hate Mindy...like christ, she is unbearable. Officially in my opinion, not just the most annoying character in Scream, but the most annoying in any movie I've seen recently. Scream 7 will involve time travel at this point.
@@patacibar4013 Yes I in fact do agree that the motive makes sense. Without Sidney it makes sense to lay the blame on Sam. I guess revenge just seemed underwhelming to me personally. I don't know about you but I guessed the motive the second "my brother is dead" was brought up. Richie's family was the only logical guess.
I love this movie and the third act worked for me, it was chaotic, brutal, ridiculous fun!! This movie is also nothing more than a character study in establishing the core 4⃣ 9.6/10
