One of my favorite songs of all time. I saw Screaming Trees three times in the early 90s and they always put on a great show. This song deserved so much more exposure - it's a shame. Thanks for posting a great live version.
His passing today is so fuck'n sad. He was the best. Saw him in a very tiny unkown venue in Sao paulo brazil. This guy is a legend. Thanks God his art will live forever...RIP
With a voice that awesome live.. and especially good on the albums, I gotta ask why they weren't more popular. They damn well deserved it. Wicked band.
@@tylurmackinnon6217 while it's true other bands had more success on way more drugs the band and the drugs just didn't mix in this case. I really wish it had been different, that voice......
@@Bruin_ffs They were just super dysfunctional. No one seemed to like their early direction, on stage fighting with each other, the rest of the band having enough of marks drug antics and Mark not having any musical input until this record. Shame really as this record is my favourite from the seattle scene era. RIP Mark
I know this band and Mark Lanegan will ever get the respect they deserve. However, I can take solace in the fact that there are thousands of people that still love them.
I saw them as the opening for triple bill: ST, Soul Asylum, and Spin Doctors. Probably 92'. Mesmerizing, clearly the best and most haunting out of the three.
As someone who has made many incredibly poor relationship decisions this song hits home. At least the person in the song realizes the mistakes they have made and is trying to think of others first. I’m trying to do the same.
The best band from Seattle grundge, hell I think they were the pioneer. Not much airplay, not taking anything from A.I.C. but I seen these guys open for them in 93 and I think they blew em away, but the show was great. There guitar player kicked a girl in the head, unreal perfomance.
indeed. the trees transcended the faux-genre grunge. they were a huge influence on kurt and nirvana, and many other 'alternative' bands. they started out in 85 putting out killer garage-psych-punk records on black flag's label sst. 5 records later they made their major label debut... their live and recorded legacy places them among the best bands America has ever produced, let alone "grunge"
"Dust" was one of the best rock albums to ever come out, so damn strong from track one to the end...tooo bad record company didnt trust them and give them any advertising budget...but fuck, Mark and the Conner brothers fought like hell all the time, seen it happen a couple of times..scary as shit..but dammit they made some great music
@tanriverdd They had a band together called Mad Season. Mark Lenegan had a few comeo's on their album. He sang along with Layne Staley on that album. Mark Lenegan was good friends with bothe Staley and Cobain.
I, ve been see SCREAMING TREES in Milan 1993 special guest of Alice in Chains, STP at the Alcatraz Club Milano 1994,two times Pearl Jam, and SOUNDGARDEN in Torino 1992 with Faith no more at the GnR tour 1992
@ultramegaunknown Yes sir, Mark Lanagan and both the bros who play guitar were rockin' Seattle before the so called "Grunge Scene"started. Remember "The RCKCNDY"that is pretty much the time the Grunge scene started. We called that area the Herpes Triangle.(Just a Joke)Because all the clubbers would go from club to club and take the party somewhere else. Check out his solo album "Whiskey and the Holy Ghost" and make sure you have a bottle of your favorite Whiskey on hand!!
I used to listen to Alice in Chains, Pearl Jam, Screaming Trees, and Nirvana-- all the time. AND now I play jazz for extra money... but I still listen to them all the time.
grunge was that a mix of zeppelin Sabbath punk metal it was all that was good mixed up, sand to me it was the last boom before rock and roll died, because in 2000 it was already dead a new era came of terrorism bullshit and new world order this is like looking into a window into the past and the ones who lived it lived it and the ones who didn't didn't, maybe there will be better days after the storm
@jczother Yeah Steve Winwood is an amazing singer/songwrite/guitar player. He is such an under-rated guitar player. He can really rip. Cant Find My Way Home is one of my favorite songs not to mention his work with Traffic. I admire him alot for not wanting to own all the spotlight (as he could have done being that he does everything) and surrounding himself with other great musicians Like Clapton and Dave Mason. He obviously just wanted to make great songs
@ratious1 lanegan is still kicking ass, but his style has dropped the rock and replaced it with a heavy dose of blues. really mellow and melodic, and just really chill.
@jczother what are you crazy?! Joe Cocker has an amazing voice. They both have growling, gravely types of voices, thats what I meant. Joe Cocker is a legend man. He sings with so much soul. People thought he was black when he first got started because he is so bluesy. Mark is bluesy too. Mark has a great voice but Joe is one of the best of all time
@mystro810 Opinions, I thought that was the whole invasion thing to sound like an old blues singer... I did hear they thought Steve Winwood WAS at 14 with Spencer Davis. Now see he's my all time favorite musician, singer and a real good song writer. Hell most stuff he plays all the instruments. I wish him and Hendrix could have done more.
Love these guys, i prefer mark lanegans solo albums more so, but still gold. BUT i always thought the guitar solos were always wack. Lanegan was THE gem in this band.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who feels this way. I didn't became a fan of Mark Lanegan until he sang in Mad Season. For me, the Screaming Trees songs only had beautiful vocals and drums tempos . . . besides that the guitars and bass just seems like white noise to me and didn't flow well.
Five to one baby, one in five, no one here gets out alive.......but Mark Lanegan did, barely. He should be dead, but got help. Support this guy, this magical spirit.
