[Stereo] The band perform on late night USTV. Great set and lighting ..... but the sound mix was botched, as the levels are constantly fluctuating during the song.
Perhaps it had something to do with the fact that the group always played "loud"?

Revisiting this after reading Lanegan's memoir. This is much better than he remembers it. He does look exhausted by his self-created ordeal, but any performance shortcomings seem more in the mix than his vocal output. And damn, good hair day.

He was & will forever remain beautifully broken, much like the lot of us. His was a voice like no other, a member of an exalted group of musicians who wtragically doomed Princes of Seattle, land of gray skies set beside a cold dark sea, finished w/white capps!, where the gale force winds pushe9ir like an assault into all noses it cane across. These tragically beautiful young men, all of whom possessed a unique talent forever preserved in recordings, done in a multitude of options. Looking at Mark Lanegan in this clip, one never would have guessed his plight that could have easily crippled, and even kill him only moments before he appeared on( stage. He's not even 30 yrs old yet, his face still smooth, not yet deeply lined from living out the life laid out before you, should you choose it. He wore his long thick hair like Samson, the color of copper fire. Still a youth, this handsome young man with a voice that throws the first time listener, for its the voice of an ancient soul. His sound was mesmerizing & he was gifted with the very rare ability of improving as he aged!; instead of the other way around. He was at the peak of his career when his autobiography came out. I feel that knowing what we now, he presented us with a gift beyond measure, especially now that he's gone. Farewell, thankful for all you gave me. May he now enter the exalted place alongside Jimi Hendrix, Andrew Wood, Kurt Cobain, Layne Staley; Mike Starr. Sleep well, sweet tragic princes

It's been stuck in my head too. Aside from Mark, the band looked very intense. I only caught the last part of this song as it was playing on TV & I especially remember the drummer going gonzo. That was a talented band who deserved wider success, but as usual drugs ruined them & particularly Mark. I read his Wikipedia entry just b4 this; he clearly went thru a ton of bad stuff in his life. It's a wonder he made it this far. Glad this was posted here; unfortunately, I'm only discovering it after he's passed on.
