Scroll Saw Techniques for INCREDIBLE ARTWORK!

I used all natural wood colors. No paint, dye, or stain was used to make this scroll saw project. I saw this picture in a Fantastic Four comic and knew I had to figure out how to turn it into scroll saw artwork. It can be difficult to take artwork and make it into a woodworking project and this was no exception. I do love how the picture frame turned out. I knew I wanted a wood picture frame that coordinates well with the artwork. If you want to see how that was made then go to my main channel Newton Makes.
Make sure you subscribe to catch my other scroll saw project videos. And head over to my main channel Newton Makes for some fun woodworking videos.

I’m Billy and I make fun things. This channel is devoted to making scroll saw art. I also have my main channel that shows how to build all kinds of cool stuff. Sometimes, it’s something I need like tool storage ideas. Other times it’s silly or nerdy stuff that I want to build. In my option, the journey is what makers enjoy the most. Yes, the journey is long and tedious but when the finale product comes out looking this good it makes it even more worth it. Stay awesome.

Wow, Billy. That is fantastic. It was an insane amount of work. I watched the frame video and that is a perfect complement to this piece. Have your eyes uncrossed yet? Bill

I used canary wood for a Macaw intarsia and finished it with shellac. The piece I had was much more of a yellow orange color though but the shellac did a great job of not changing the color I thought

The finished artwork is beautiful! Did you use holly or maple for the teeth and eyes of Hulk?
@NewtonMakesArt

I used holly but didn't film it for some unknown reason.

I hope this is for your own collection. I can't imagine what you would need to charge for something like this with the amount of hours you have into creating it.

Awesome, thanks for sharing Billy. Do you sell any of your artwork? Do you take commissions?
@NewtonMakesArt

I'll list any items for sale on my website. I have not taken commissions because of the labor involved in these. It's possible I will eventually.

I know nobody wants to hear that you should have done this instead, but it is an amazing piece im beginning to woodwork myself so I appreciate the time it took to complete this piece, just think it was a missed opportunity to use poplar there's alot of amazing green pieces in poplar
@NewtonMakesArt
@NewtonMakesArt Год назад
There are and it doesn't stay green. It turns brown over time even when protected by a film finish. I have a beautiful Poison Ivy picture that proves it. It's a shame because I agree that it's a great shade of green.

@@NewtonMakesArt Have you ever thought about cheating? 😬 Like, using a light wood and staining? For the green part, for example.
@NewtonMakesArt
@NewtonMakesArt Год назад
I have zero problem with people doing it so no judgment if they do. It's possible I will in the right situation. I like being forced to use natural colors. It's a unique challenge.
