The SCS On The Road concept is truly fantastic! I'm thoroughly enjoying it! It's wonderful to see you all dedicating time to capture these scenes, conduct interviews, and share all the behind-the-scenes footage with us through this series. A big thank you to everyone involved in both the current and upcoming episodes.
I have 3 concerns when it comes down to the practicallity of this new type of trailer: 1. I can imagine that the battery pack will add a lot of extra weight which will increase tyre wear, and decrease loading capacity due to weight restrictions. 2. It also seems that the battery pack replace the option for extra pallet storage, so distribution centers that solely use the euro pallet system will find this more of an annoyance. 3. Charging the battery packs through regenration using down hill momentum will be near impossible in flat countries like Belgium,The Netherlands, Denmark, Estonia, Latvia,... and truck charging stations are near to non-existant (at the moment)
Agreed 100% on point! This just one more green crap to make life more complicated and do not solve sindle problem, just add more problems and things to malfunction on otherwise very simple technology - trailer is basacly weells, brakes and cargo platform. What i see here is just complications and new resolve problems witch otherwise never be here - this is happen when women start to be hired as diversity quota in male field of occupation. This lady is totally useless anyway - gives us solution to a problem that was non existent before this green technology.
Great news! Other questions you can ask to make this video more interesting are: - What is cargo weight reduction in comparison to the conventional trailers? If the battery capacity is 600 kWh with approx of 500kg per 100kWh EV battery pack (approx. numbers) it is going to be -3 tons of max cargo weight. The absolte max upper weight limit is 24 tons in EU. Which is simple maths is ~3/24th or -12.5% of max cargo load capacity. Would be very interesting to hear what are the maths behind this solution. Since fuel takes up to 20% of the total cost for a transport company, and recently fuel prices have gone up to +50%; the stated 40% fuel consumption reduction is going to be a HUGE advantage in big fleets.
The problem with putting the motors in the wheels themselves, is that they're going to be taking the full impact of every bump/pothole the wheel hits, I don't see them lasting very long in normal road conditions, it's a great idea regardless though.
Guys, developers, I have a huge request, add a slider to the gameplay settings for setting up the pneumatic driver's seat, so that you can adjust the level at will, this setting is what is missing in the game when driving on the road, you ride like on a train, there are no camera vibrations.
I used to use a mod for it, then they broke all my main mods with another one of those game breaking patches without adding the functionality and realism that comes with mods, and... voilà, I uninstalled it like for good. Years ago, 2019, I guess, never felt to start the whole goddamn modding process from scratch again to get back the realistic feeling and - above all sounding - trucks that I had, as also the vanilla sound of those "trucks" sounds like dang electric cars, rather comical than real. Reading your request 5 yrs later is prove enough to me that uninstalling it was the best thing I could do and saved me a lot of life time, because this game obviously is still unplayable and way too unrealistic for my liking, when they still have no realistically simulated Air Suspension Truck Seats, that's as ridiculous ans the unreal engine sounds or driving physics. Only mods can make this bare bone game shine, without the work of the community, it's outright trash.
The concept is great, it's just too bad Krone makes such low quality trailers so I imagine this will stop working after a few months like all other electronics on Krone trailers :(
