It's an ocean sponge. They pull water up through the center and filter it. What you're seeing is food coloring that was applied at the base to show how well nature's filter works.
@@TravisAndersen-TWA Oh cool! I rewatched the video and see it being applied now. 😆 ... I literally just got my PADI Open Water certification this weekend in Monterey, California and will be going to Roatan in late February. I can't wait!
I agree... I tried it out for the first day then put it on a handheld stick for the rest of the week. I'll probably only use it for free diving now where I don't get all the bubbles flying up past it.
I don't know what the rate is now but we paid around $4,000 for 2 of us for a 7-Day all inclusive with a bungalow over the water and the dive package. About three dives a day with a couple of night dives through the week. Most dives are around 60 ft. We did a couple of dives on shipwrecks that went down as far as 100 ft. We brought our own thin suits but honestly you don't even need a suit. They will provide you with bcds, regulators, air, weights and anything else you need in the dive package. As I recall enriched air costed a little more.
