I'm so glad you left that coating on by accident ! Been crafting all week... feel like I keep forgetting the smallest things... that I already know lmao !!! Stellar video ! I'm an immediate fan and cannot wait to get my S10 next week ! I'm so excited to learn from you !!!
I am just amazed at what you can do with this machine Ainslee. The idea of making templates alone is incredible but photographs and the million other possibilities - well it is just staggering! That little lidded box would be ideal for an inkwell or inkbottle, you could team up with a pen company and create bespoke products . . . or any bespoke product you like! I am just amazed! Thank you for sharing with us. Eryk :-)
Thanks Eryk. I hear you. I get overwhlemed at just the thought of what can be done with the machine. Also blows my mind it can be done right in your own little workshop. The possibiliities are endless like you say. Thanks for stopping by as always 😀
Why would you show me a Sculpfun S10 when I just got a Sculpfun S9. Have you learned nothing from our meeting??? Ok, alright, when can I pick it up? 🤨🤣 Anyway, great review and video. 👍 Love your work. ❤👍
Another great video. I’ve had the S9 since Christmas and have recently got the rotary and new air assist from Sculpfun. I’m fitting homing switches as well. I like your custom risers, so much more usable than the fixed version. Keep up the good work.
Excellent projects and tips! i bought the S9 sculpfun and had to buy also air assist, encase, exhaust motor etc! too much itens for my small space. just tried it cuttin 1 sheet of paper🤦🏻 I just ordered the toolbox M1 encased . have to sell the sculpfun s9. thanks for yours projects specially the ideaa to paint wood before cutting!!!! hugs from Puerto Rico 🇵🇷
Queen of Lasers! Super cool, I can't wait for you to bring out your own range of Small Fry Branded Laser Eye Protection Goggles, surely that's the next step? ;)
I smiled after saying cheese too .. Ur so nice girl.. I think ur cute too if u don't mind me saying.. I just got the S9 today. I'm not that tech savvy but I got it working myself with some of the Lightburn tutorials.. Not taking the plastic cover off the perspex was a proper rookie error girl.. LMAO,, U are hilarious and beautiful.. Are u married? haha! I'm only buzzin' with u girl.. Apologies if I'm creeping u out. Ur actually giving off some of the best energy I've ever felt from a YT video.. I'm going to start building my CNC ROUTER tomorrow morning. I was out in my workshop tonight messing around with the S9 and I got so into it that I forgot I was freezing to death very slowly.. I will be watching more of ur content but I will leave all the compliments alone from now on.. heehee! Maybe?! HAPPY NEW YEAR and best wishes for 2023
Glad your enjoying the content. I enjoying sharing my learning with the community. So many rookie errors but as long as we are learning that’s all that matters 😀 thank you for all the lovely comments
So, I recently (July 2022) purchased two different S10's and have had issues will both. I returned both and tried for a third time and still no luck. Amazon actually let me keep the S10 for FREE which was awesome, and then I ended up buying the S9. The S10 that I have made it very difficult for me to get lightburn to register my device and ultimately I had to add it manually. Although I did this, the laser would not burn at full power, nor would it burn at more than about 25% power. So as of now it sits in my garage gathering dust. Any tips you have based on your experience setting up your S10 would be greatly appreciated. Cheers. Great videos bye the way. You do a great job of putting out content that is fun and educational.
HI Paul. How frastruting. I understand completely. Once I got the laser added manually I didn't have any issues. Have you joined the facebook group at all? If not I would suggest that is a good solution. The support in the group is amazing and the knowledge is fantastic. Sculpfun themselves are in the group and will often be able to help resolve the issue. You are able to take photos and videos and the group can try and resolve the issue. I would give it a go and then you will get a free laser up and running 😀
@@SmallFryCreations thank you for reaching out to me, and thank you for the Facebook group suggestion. I just asked to join the group and I am currently waiting for the approval. Thanks again. Keep putting out those amazing updates and videos
Hello Will cut through the foam. You just want to confirm what the foam is made from and ensure its is safe as some materials can released an unsafe gas. A Dioade laser can't cut clear Prespex at all. Only dark colours with the most successful being Black. Hope this helps.
Great video!! Me and my wife just watched it as I got her the S10 for her B-day. Do you have the file for the legs you printed for the rotary tool??? I would love to print them for her
Hi small fry creations trust u well today ❤ I m a south African what is da price of da no 10 LAZER printing n cutting edge I c u r from Sydney down under I mean Australia
Hello, Thank you for sharing all your wisdom once again! My 13 year old son has just upgraded his s9 to an s10 and with great excitement set it up and was keen to get it going. His first engraving though was not a clear image with brown marks around the edges. We had air assist on while we were doing it & in asking on fb groups I seem to be getting conflicting opinions on whether we should have air assist in or off for engraving. Some say that not having it on will damage the lens? Do you have any knowledge about this you could share? We just want to care for it properly from the beginning! Thanks so much 😊
That’s so exciting Kate!!! I use air assist when cutting and no air assist when engraving. I find when air assist is on when engraving it smudges the engrave. Hope that helps 😀
Hello, I have many doubts about which laser to buy. S10, S9 or AMSTRAC A10 pro. It is my first laser that you advise me?. Congratulations for your great content on the channel!
I have used Atomstack so can’t say. But if your looking Sculpfun I would recommend the S10 over the S9. They are fantastic machine sand perfect if your new to lasering.
Hi! Great video, helps a lot! How long would engraving a picture, like the one we took together, take? I know you gave a lot of info with the settings, but it does not tell me the actual time. Also, if you have zero'd the machine, you would not have to do that every time right? Thanks a lot!
Hey Maurtis Pending on the size but that photo I think from memory was about 100mm square and it took about 20 minutes. Once you zero the machine on startup it then remembers its zero point until you turn them machine off again.
Great video. I am so close to buying now! Can I ask, i am looking to engrave some timber signs. i am looking at around 20mm think timber but i want the engraving to be around half the thickness. is this something that can be done with this machine or am i looking for something different to do what i am wanting. Cant wait for more videos!!!
Thank you. It’s a great machine but I don’t think it would be great at engraving down about 10mm. It would take quite a while and would be very burnt. I think going that deep would need to be a CNC machine. Hope this helps 😀
Awesome video!!! Btw, in making that tumbler via light burn, what settings did you use in terms of speed, power, and line interval? It looks really amazing!!
Thank you. I don't change the line interval what whatever Lightburn set it at. I have the speed at 1000 and the power is at 50-70% depending on the bottle. Hope this helps
Hey The S10 is a great machine however there is one large downside in my opinion. It doesn't have great upgrade ability. Its unable to upgrade the laser head or extension frame to make the engrave area larger. For some reason this Sculpfun machine hasn't been included in upgrades that Sculpfun have brought out since the release of this machine. If the budget allows I would recommend the S30 range. These machines have great extras like auto air assist and can also be upgraded if you choose down the line. Hope this helps
Hard to say as it depends on what power you’re running the laser at and the maintenance you do the laser lens. The new lasers like the Sculpfun S30 range comes with replaceable lens so if/when the laser goes you can replace the lens right away and your back up and running. Hope this helps
Hey You would be able. You would just have to be very careful with settings are it would eaily catch on fire. If you were looking for a machine to just cut paper a Circuit or similar machine may be better.
OO the S30 range is a fantasic. I will have a video soon with the S30 Pro Max 20 watt and I have put it head to to head with the Xtool. The 20 watt is a great machine. If budget is a concern the 10watt is also a great machine.
Great video. I got the S9 after watching your first laser video. Still in the learning process. Does the rotary tool you used with the S10 work for the S9? Also where do you get your thin plywood from? My local Bunnings doesn’t have a very good timber selection.
Hey thank you. The S9 is a great machine and yes the rotary will work with it. It’s a great accessory. I did get the 3mm from plywood from Bunnings. I always check when I’m there as some times are better then others.
I have also bought the S9 but like Ortur LM Pro I am having difficulty in cutting coloured acrylic but no problem with black. Perhaps it is the way I am doing it but I’ll just have to keep on trying. Great video keep it up. I am in the UK by the way so our choice of materials is fairly limited unlike the US.
Hello and Happy new year! ! ! Many likes for your video. I would like to ask you if you know, after how many hits of laser it is needed to be replaced and do you believe if i need to buy ? Thank you very much and keep up the great work!!
Happy new year! Hard to say about the life of the laser as it comes down to what power your running your laser at and that changes pending material. I would strongly recommend the honeycomb bed as if your cutting you want your workpiece off the ground with air flow below and the honeycomb bed works great for that.
Nah. Some people put masking tape down but I find playing with the settings to get it just right is better and quick then having to peel the tape off at the end.
Hello and thank you for your video! I have a question I want to buy my I would like to know if it can cut any plywood and what thickness? or it can cut only MDF and what thickness? what thickness with what wood can it cut?? thank you for your reply
Thanks for stopping by. It can cut plywood and MDF as well as a bunch of other material. It can can upto 12-15mm plywood however I would recommend it is best at cutting 3mm - 6mm material
next good video with good work and I'm planning to buy one. any idea if we can use the custom honeycomb or the official one is better? Also, do you buy most of the materials from bunnings or somewhere else.
Thank you. You just need something that elevates the workpiece in the air with space under. Any honeycomb would work just have to be sure the metal is ok to be heated. Some metals are not safe to be heated. I get plywood for the laser from Bunnings. Just keep my eye out for when the store has good sheets in stock and then I stock up.
Thank you. Can't cut glass I don't believe. A diaode laser won't cut anything clear. I don't think it can cut coloured glass either. Would need to check with the supplier
Hi to you... good video :) I just have two questions .. Where did you find the the file ? I cant find it on his page :( How cloase are you to matrial when you cut ?
Hey thank you. If you head to the description of the video link her will have a link you head to to get the file. The lasers come with a measurement cylinder so there is no guessing just out the material down and lower the laser to the top of the cylinder. Hope this helps 😀
I've just found your channel and love your videos. I'm really interested in the S10 now (total newbie but have so many ideas). Unfortunately when I clicked on the link the site said they don't ship to Aus. Any suggestions?
Thank you. Its lots of fun and not to hard to get up and running. I'm not sure what is going on with the link and the delivery. I have emailed my contact but in the meantime I have put an Australian delivery link which is the offical Sculpfun store through Aliexpress. This should do the tick.:)
how much ventilation is needed for this type of laser? I am thinking of propping a fan by the window while this is running to have it exhaust the fumes. Will that be sufficient or does it need its own ventilation system?
The settings in the video worked for me however I always suggest running tests as every material can be different the laser is affected my air temp and humidity. My settings are a good starting point
@@SmallFryCreations right. Makes sense. Thank you. By the way, ever tryied to engrave a notebook by any chance? I wanna get into promotionals, i can do pens on fiber, but never could do a notebook
I use Lightburn for software and you can add the air pump later for sure. The air assist justs speed things up and makes a cleaned less burnt cut but you can still very easily cut without air assist.
I believe you may. I haven’t at this stage. In saying that if I’m laser cutting something that will be 3D I do it in sketch up first so I can see it and work out any issues. Then I make each part in lightburn.
As in it’s not a circle? I would cut a rectangle that is something like 30mm x 50mm and check the measurements are correct. If the measurements are off your axis may need to be calibrated
Please I need an expert advice: I have the money to start my project buying an S9, should I buy it or do you recommend me to spend the extra money for the S10? Is it really a big difference between them? 😮 Thanks!!
The S10 with the air assist is great. You can fit air assist to the S10. I would say if your not going to be cutting very much then the S9 would be ok. If you plan on cutting alot I would go the S10 with the air assist. The S10 is also quicker but if your not in the hurry then again the S9 would be ok. Hope this helps :)
Hi! I just joined the group. Hoping someone would accept my request. I just recently purchased a Sculpfun S10 and I'm having a problem with connecting it with light burn. I tried adding it manually but unfortunately, the laser still does not work despite clicking the "fire" button. Whenever I click "Frame" it also says "beam disabled". Hoping someone can help me resolve this as I've been trying to figure it out for a couple of days already. Will appreciate any help! Thank you!
Thanks for the great video! sorry if I missed this question being answered Is it possible to use the S10 directly on top of your cutting material? i.e. a 2.4m by 1.2m panel of Plywood that's sitting on top of another protective surface underneath? Meaning you can cut , reposition the machine, cut, reposition the machine rather than having to cut your panels into chunks of 400mm by 400mm and produce more waste etc? Keen to hear your thoughts, thanks!
Thank you. Absolutely can more the laser around and put it on whatever your lasering. Super easy! So versatile. I haven’t tried it but I believe in lightburn there is a setting if you have a large project you can set it up as a pass through and light burn helps you align everything.
@@SmallFryCreations Legendary, thank you, I'm definitely buying this then! Was worried I had to cut my wood into small chunks to fit in the surface area :) thanks!
@@SmallFryCreations Update :) I've bought the S10 and having fun!, the only the thing I'm curious is whether you find you ALWAYS have charred edges when cutting Plywood? I find all of my cuts dirty my hands and thus would dirty customer hands if I produced cuts without cleaning all pieces Note: I have the Sculpfun S10 with the Sculpfun Air Pump, I find regardless of the settings I can't seem to ensure edges are clean, keen to know your thoughts if you have the same issue :) Also, Sculpfun do have an enclosure (Not sure if you know that) I bought the extension kit + extended enclosure kit
@@PopAttack Hey thats awesome. Glad your enjoying it. I know what you mean with the charred edges. You can play around with power settings to reduce a little but looks like you have done that. You can't completely avoid it. I have found a method that helps. Once the item has come off the laser I spray a clear coat on it. Once its dry I wipe it down with vingear and set it aside to dry. Out in the sun if I can. Then I will clear coat again if I need to otherwise its good to go. I find the vingear does a great job of getting the smell away but spraying the first clear cost stops it from smudging all over the place. When I wipe it down with vingear I use a majic sponge and toothbrush. Hope this helps. :)
Hi there, i have just got the Sculpfun machine, can you advise me on settings and setup to cut 3mm clear acrylic. Your assistance would really be appreciated.
Hey Thank you. yep it can cut up to 12-15mm wood. I have found the best results with 3mm and in my test cutting two 3mm was quicker then 1 x 6mm but it can cut 6mm :). Hope this helps
my cutting result is the plastic melting early , than the melted plastic blocking the laser to shoot deeper way🤣🤣 setting i use is 3mm/s, 80% power, cut 30 times ( provides by factory )
No sure if it will work with Acetate Plastice. 3mm/s is extremely slow which is why the plastic is melting. How thick is the plastic? Also I would be careful as some plastics are not designed to be cut with a diaode laser and may put out harm spells. You would need to confirm with the brand that is can cut the plastic your trying to cut.
Hi! I brought the s9 after watching your video. I also brought the rotary but I can not for the life of me work out what settings to use to engrave a yeti bottle. Doesn’t come up the way it should. What setting a do you use? Could you do a video on it?
Hey Codi That fantastic. I use speed 2000 and 60% power. Are you having trouble with placement and aligned of design or are you having issues with the design showing up on the bottle?
Silver on the inside and charcoal on the outside. I just tried those settings and it didn’t work. It’s just comes up black not silver like for example the yeti logo on the bottle.
@@codijayne6765 hmmm ok that’s frustrating for you. Charcoal on the outside should produce great results. My best suggestion would be to jump in the Sculpfun Facebook and put a short video up with the issue and the group will be able to troubleshoot with you to get you up and running
I'm not sure what is going on with the link and the delivery. I have emailed my contact but in the meantime I have put an Australian delivery link which is the offical Sculpfun store through Aliexpress. This should do the tick.:)
@@SmallFryCreations The things holding me back is the price tag, and that it's on the Want list and not the Need list. Have to figure out some projects that would greatly be benefited of a laser, so I can justify the expense... 😅
