Gotta say, you do a fantastic job with sculpting hair. I'm going to have to practice this a bunch to get my skills up. Appreciate you posting up something like this to help
What's so amazing is as I'm watching, I forget just how frickin small the figure is and then my brain notices your fingers again and I'm amazed at how much detail you can put into something so small.
Just found and followed this tutorial! It has made my new leagues of Votann models soooo much better. I love seeing them with big traditional dwarf beards. Thank you!!
Jarl Valbjorn himself! I had no idea you did RU-vid tutorials!? You’ve easily been one of my biggest inspirations into the hobby for the last 2 years and the reason I started using green stuff 👌🏻
I always disliked the human heads for Warhammer minitures so I put them all in a bag and replaced them all with helmets, you have given me a reason to bring the heads out! thanks so much for this info and your channel is way too underrated. What a treasure to find this before you get all famous and everyone steals this technique!
These are amazing. Thanks for this great tutorial. My wolves are about to get a whole lot more beardier. The tip for changing the ratio for the blue is a game changer.
I love this tutorial, I just followed it and it worked great, though I am intensely annoyed cause I nailed it on the first go then overworked it luck a dummy, oh well attempt 2 was still pretty good, this is the first time I sculpted anything thanks a lot for giving me the confidence to try, you rock
Just over the top amazing results man, you make it looks effortless. Fantastic video. I like that it's a full realtime video as well without a bunch of edits, so people get a realistic idea of the effort required.
Absolutely phenomenal video. I'm not very good at manipulating green stuff, but this gave me enough confidence to start giving beards a shot. Thanks much!
so simple yet so complex, thank you. would love to spend one day working with you, working on my first army that just happens to be wolves so this has been fun
This is an amazing GS tutorial. Real time, informative, and definitely not overhyping how easy something will be. Gotta say, the ratio of blue to yellow is something that seems so obvious hearing you explain it but I just never saw it explained properly anywhere else. I've been trying to sculpt a full 50:50 mix and seeing expectable results. I love these methods and will be definitely trying them myself.
this whole thing feels like synthwave asmr the tunes in the background the vaguely cruddy mic the smooth dulcet tones of your voice the pacing of the tutorial a+, i'm ready for bed (in a good way - sculpting right before bedtime lol, very relaxing)
Actually followed this tutorial to figure out beards for the first time with some ironhead squats, some of them have open helmets but bare chins so it a great opportunity to try it out
Really excellent tutorial :) I've recently started a project making Vostroyan Firstborn and the lack of impressive beards and moustaches on existing pieces has been a let down so far. Found this video excellent on helping me on my way
I'm firm Instagram and I couldn't wait to learn from the best beard and fur sculptor Ive ever seen! Great work on the video and I hope you do more if you can!
Thanks for posting this tutorial, I managed to get a nice beard on one of my operatives. I 3D printed a short sleeve ball cap wearing merc, but his chin didn't print out. The new beard allowed me to save the print, and get him back into the fight. I have to add your video and sound quality are excellent for a first time video.
came here after another youtuber, Jam's Mini Mods, mentioned you in one of his videos about sculpting beards. i'm going to start sculpting greenstuff beards/hair on astra militarum dudes, and this was such an eye-opener on what you can achieve. super informative and insightful, cheers!
really nice work! fellow space wolves collector here, i have "mastered" the furs, but i havent done any beards or hair before, this have inspired me to try it out. great video!
Since i found your video, all my spare heads now have mediocre beards and hair. Appriciate the work you put into this video! And a sidenote, was really refreshing to have a person talk calmly through it, and not overhyped and squeaky, keep it up!
That's really great to hear! It's funny, in person I'm very pumped up but during these videos I feel very relaxed - the best sculpting is done with a slow heartrate haha.
@@jarlvalbjorn yeah, seems like it! I have moved on into more free imagination since, having my 40k on a hiatus for a short while, still having tons of fun doing hair and beard 😅
Excellent video, loved the advice. I've just been doing a mutated lion pelt on my chapter master and Im going to use this technique on the mane tomorrow and give him an awesome beard like your space wolves 👍😁
Want to say I stumbled across your channel and wanted to say wow! I’ve been wanting to covert the heads on my space wolves and you’ve shown me an awesome way to do that and it’s sooooo easy. I’ve been doing this for my new indominus box set and will have a video on my channel soon as I get more done
Came from Reddit, really nice vid man, looking forward to more if you do more. Would love to see cloth, like cloaks, tabards etc if you're thinking of doing more.
Fantastic work, this video is probably my favorite in sculpting hair and bears for sure. I will attempt to work the same way but on a larger size as I don't work in that scale.
I just had someone tell me about your video in Facebook, I am wanting to do the exact same thing but find some different heads to do it with some custodians I want for kill team. Really is freaking awesome man.
@@jarlvalbjorn I have the same situation. Found you on Instagram. As they say here in Russia, "У тебя золотые руки (You have golden hands)." Unrealistically cool.
I would love too see some of the close ups you use to check your work and any more help to shape the moustache out of the beard. Once again thanks for an amazing introduction to this. I'm off to try some.
Such a phenomenal job, great work and really helpful! I'd love to see if you do fur and pelts in a similar way, or maybe an "advanced" version to detail how you sculpt braids or other features
Thanks man! I will be doing a pelts version soon. I was also thinking the same thing for an advanced version of the beard tutorial for really tweaking it for photo quality. I'm still developing my braid technique so I want to get that down pat before I teach it. Cheers man! 🍻
