Such an awesome take on Frankensteins monster. Has references to the original design but with a modern style. Great work!

Hey, I have a question! How can I bake a supersculpey standing sculpture like this and keep it upright? ALSO, what material could I use as the base that is Oven safe? :) trying this technique for my midterm.
@TecnicusStreetStudios
@TecnicusStreetStudios 3 года назад
For sculptures like this I actually just sculpt and bake it on the wooden base. Pretty much all craft stores have pieces of wood like I use in my videos. Just try to find the highest quality wood they have and check to make sure it's not warped. I've never had any burning issues baking the sculpture on wood in the oven. Just keep an eye on it. Also, I rarely ever bake it at 275F(135C if you're not in the US) for longer than 8 minutes. So, put the sculpture in the oven, turn it on and once it reaches 275 start your timer for 8 to 10 minutes. Once the time is up, turn off the oven and let the sculpture and the oven cool down together for at least 30 minutes. You may have to adjust the time because not all ovens are the same. I hope this helps! Feel free to ask all the questions you want and I'll respond as quickly as I can.

+Tecnicus Street Studios Your Videos are awesome.. I'm hooked and Ive subscribed.. When I grow up I want to be just as good as you are.. :-) Ive got a question.. When you create large Scuplts, have you you ever used Air Dry Clay.. My Oven is not big enough for a sculpt as big as this one, and I feel I am heading in that direction.. The Larger the better in my opinion :-)
@TecnicusStreetStudios
@TecnicusStreetStudios 7 лет назад
Mark Cunningham - Thank you so much! and thank you for watching and subscribing!! I have not used air dry clay, but I might have to try it someday. Honestly my oven is not very big either. For my larger sculpts, like this one, I measured the inside of my oven and made the sculpture right at the limit.

Mainly, what kind of clay do you use.
@zombiesquirrels8D
@zombiesquirrels8D 5 лет назад
How do you blend out the fine details like the ribs and neck tendons? I imagine fingers would be too big but would a tool keep the fine-ness of the line intact? If you understand what I mean lmao. I feel like it would be difficult blending out fine details without wiping them away entirely.
@TecnicusStreetStudios
@TecnicusStreetStudios 5 лет назад
zombiesquirrels8D - I think I understand your question. So for the fine details, sometimes I'll kind of lightly tap on the area with my finger tip or a smooth tool to knock down the sharp edges and then lightly smoothe it out with a tool. When adding something like a rib a lot of times instead of adding a small piece of clay I'll just press the detail in and very carefully use a tool to smooth it into the shape i want. It's kind of hard to explain with out showing you. I'm getting ready to start a series of tutorials that will cover everything from materials needed to the final painted sculpture. Hopefully sooner than later. To answer your other question, the liquid I brushed on was Sculpey Clay Softener. It is the final step i use for blending the small details. It takes a lot of patience and delicacy with SuperSculpey since it's so soft.

Compliments! You make it look easy... Incredible! I have a question: how to prepare Super Sculpey before using it? (example by adding Sculpey Liquid Clay Softener) You start using it as it is in the box? Without treatments? Because my Super Sculpey does not easily spread. I understand that the video is accelerated and you have an expert hand, but my Super Sculpey is very different from yours. I tried to extreme stimulate it with hands to warm it, add oil, hammer it... Nothing. What is your secret? :)
@TecnicusStreetStudios
@TecnicusStreetStudios 6 лет назад
Linolo Marivio - Hello! Thank you very much :) all I do to prepare the SuperSculpey is tear off pieces and work it in my hands to soften it. it does take a little while sometimes, but it should soften eventually. Is it possible that your clay could be dried out? other than that I'm not sure. If it is dried out the Sculpey Clay Softener may help, but not if it's really bad.

Thanks for your quick reply. Sorry for my late reply. But in the meantime i discovered that behind the Super Sculpey packs is printed the date of production. YYMMDDHH year month day hour I had old/dry Super Sculpey, october 2013. I bought another from another reseller. February 2017. Everything has changed!!! :)
