Andrea Martinez - Thank you for watching! I'm using the 'SuperSculpey Beige'. It's my favorite one because it's not too soft, but also not too hard. For me, the SuperSculpey Firm is almost impossible to work with and the SuperSculpey Medium is good, but sometimes it's too soft.

@@TecnicusStreetStudios okay perfect that's the one I ordered, and i got a kit of tools ( I know you can prolly make your own but it's just nice to start out with a kit hahah) the toughest thing for is is gonna be the base and wires 😭😭

Andrea Martinez - Honestly, I mostly just use the cheap wood sculpting tools and then sand them to different shapes if I need to. There's really no reason to buy the expensive tools. I've bought some before and I always end up going back to my cheap ones. Lol. With the wire armature, just start simple and gradually get more and more elaborate. Also, there's no wrong or right way to make an armature. If it works then it's right. 👍 you'll get it!

+Stephane Fournier Thank you for watching! For this sculpture, since I'm using SuperSculpey polymer clay, I prefer to use Sculpey Clay Softener, which is basically a light oil. I use this because it not only smooths out the surface, getting rid of fingerprints and unwanted tool marks, but also adds extra hydration to the clay before putting it in the oven and greatly reduces the risk of cracking. Though alcohol works and is what a lot of sculptors use on SuperSculpey it will dry out the polymer clay very quickly making it brittle and more prone to cracks during the cooking process. I've never used turpentine or lighter fuel on this type of clay for the same reason. Also I believe turpentine and lighter fuel are more for oil based clay like Chavant NSP etc. below is a link to the oil that I use. www.sculpey.com/product/sculpey-clay-softener-0/

Thanks! yes it is great for beginners this is the clay I started with. It doesn't harden by itself it needs to be cooked in an oven. I strongly suggest not using a blowtorch on it because it will burn very quickly and cook unevenly.

It is a dental pick actually and definitely one of my most favorite tools for sculpting. It’s made by G.U.M. and they’re only around 3 or 4 dollars. I think it’s called a gingival pick or something like that.

Cheyenne Mae - Super Sculpey can burn very easy so with this sculpture and the majority of all my others I cook it only long enough to harden the outside. The way I prefer to cook my sculptures is I put it in the oven, no preheating, and then turn the oven to 275F (135C) and set the timer 12-15 min. once the time is up I turn the oven off and let the sculpture and oven cool down together for at least 20-30min. After that I take the sculpture out and set it on my sculpting table for a couple hours to cool and then it should be ready to paint! It may take a few tries to really dial it in. Hope this helps :)

Cheyenne Mae - No it won't burn. it's really not in the oven long enough at a high enough temperature. You may smell the wood heating up, but it won't burn.

The Sculpey Original(white clay) is a lot softer than Super Sculpey Beige, which is what I'm using in this video. For me, the Sculpey Original is too soft and it's difficult to see details with it being white. There's also Super Sculpey Medium and Super Sculpey Firm.

No actually I'm using Sculpey Clay Softener and it's basically a light oil. It adds extra hydration, smoothes out fingerprints and knocks down any unwanted harsh edges on the clay before I cook it.
