I'm mixing equal parts translucent Sculpey III(solid) with regular SuperSculpey.

Thank you! The Super Sculpey I'm using in this video is much softer than the firm. I could never really get used to using the firm. Sometimes I do use SuperSculpey Medium which is a balance between the two. It's gray just like the firm is.

@@TecnicusStreetStudios Thanks for the advice! Also, maybe you can tell me what works best to add new pieces of SS on a baked part. Using Bake & Bond?

Gerben Den Heeten - Sorry, I didn’t see your reply. I got signed out of RU-vid for some reason. I’ve not tried bake n bond, but I might give it a try. What I’ve done in the past is just bake the first part and then, as long as there’s some texture for the unbaked Sculpey to stick to, you can keep adding pieces and baking in steps. Personally, I try to do it in as few steps as possible because the more you bake the same piece over and over it increases the chance of it drying and then it can become too brittle and begin to crack. I’ve baked SuperSculpey as much as three times for twelve minutes each time and I haven’t had too many cracks. It’s just something that takes practice. Unfortunately SuperSculpey can be quite inconsistent from box to box so you’ll need to learn to anticipate making small changes to your cooking process from time to time.

langas cortez - yes I cook it with the wood base. When I cook my sculptures I only cook them for a short time. Just long enough to harden the outside of the sculpture so as not to burn the wood or overcook and crack the sculpture. Some of the cheaper pieces of wood can warp if they get cooked to long though.

Brush the sculpture down with Sculpey Clay Softener, instead of Isopropyl alcohol, and don't over cook it.

Jon Doe - yes, I usually only use half of a box for something like this and my H.P. Lovecraft sculpture.

Everything Linux - I've been sculpting with Super Sculpey for about six years now. It just takes a lot of practice and also patience with yourself. One thing that really helped me was watching videos from Jordu Schell and Casey Love. The Stan Winston school has some really good classes of theirs on DVD.
