I think the burr support plate has a Design flaw, the "hole" (more like flaps) that you tighten the screws against eat away after some time, and the threads being out of aluminium does not help either. I had to modify my 078s so that it works again. I'd be happy seeing a better design regarding durability with grinders in the future. Other than that, I love my 078s!

Can you do a video on disassembly? I am not able to pull out the ring and remove the auger to clean it. Not enough hand/wrist strength. Please show how to do this? Thank you. Edit: I have the Timemore 078.

"Don't do this, but if you do anyway, here's how!" :) Thanks for showing this though rather than having people be in the dark not knowing what they're doing if they attempt to open these up for any reason. Any info / education is better than none!

For anyone watching this reassembling the 78s. I was getting a metal grinding sound and a beep following machine turning off. After many time, disassembling and reassembling it. The problem was, I didn’t screw in the locking plate far enough even when I hit resistance. It needed to be further. “hitting resistance” is quite subjective. You’re welcome

Oh man, I've been sweating my a-- of for the past hour! i wish i checked the comments section earlier to read your comment. Thanks a million! PS: I had a bit of tiny metal chunks after i got the grinding sound (twice). I checked the burrs and they look intact to me. Do you know where could be the chunks coming from? Thanks again!

@@camilnajm7831 The metal shavings are coming from the backside of the wipers on the burr carrier, not the burrs themself

I found that "hitting resistance" was the point where I could literally not turn the locking plate any further, retrace to line up zero point from there. When spinning the locking plate, it goes no resistance, moderate resistance, and then unable to rotate anymore. Go until the last option before lining up the zero point.

After cleaning and re-assembly, I have found the true zero-point for my burrs where they are chirping. Pulling back 0.1 from there, I am getting a coarse grind that is almost suitable for French Press (far too coarse for espresso). How do I properly re-align my burrs?

I did another full clean of the my Sculptor 078s and now I am getting super fine grinds at 0.1. I suspect a clog or something of that nature is the culprit

after assembling the grinder, the grinder starts up with a beep and refuses to on. anyone else faces the same issue?

If you have the 078 model you probably need to tighten the locating plate all the way through the clicks until you physically cannot anymore and then return it to the top position as shown in the video. I believe the model in the vid is 078s which is stemless and thus there’s no resistance until the locating plate is fully tightened. This is not the case with the 078. Good luck!
