SCUM 0.8 - Does The New Banking/Trade/Fame System Actually Work? 

What we need is to see the fame points cost before a purchase otherwise it feels it makes no sense. I've made sense of it in the developers explanation respectively But it makes no sense unless we know how much fame it costs us to buy goods.

This update will ruin the solo/duo experience. You already get pooped by a clan or squad, now it will be even worse. If they wanted to change the respawn system, they should leave the random and base spawn free because now if you're not rich you can't even defend your base. This will make the richer because more rich: you don't have gold bars, you can't defend base; no base defense, the clan raids you easy; then they go to the next base. You can tell me that you should be better at the game but when a 10 man clan comes at you with thousands in cash and gold bars and you only have one life, I'm not sure if this is a fair experience. This update is for pve players and squads/clans, not for everyone. Kinda sad....

The Framework is a good idea but there is no mission or bounty's or reward system yet. It needs more stuff to do to really get this going, honestly they should have waited to introduce the fame overhaul until they introduced the tools to use it i.e. more enemy's, missions, and other activities. TLDR the lack of PvE content is hindering the PVP and we need more PvE content to enrich the PvP. And if its to much fame to fast just up the cost.

The most anticipated update, while also being somehow the worst. If I had known that the cost of building better bases, was, the FUNCTION of a base, I woulda bit my tongue. So, now, I can build a cool, custom base, if, there was a reason. Now, I just live in the trader area, until I can bank enough money, to make even a shelter worth the fucking time. I now understand the "i live in a truck" people because what the fuck is the point? Oh wait, they fucked that too. The base building meta was already crap in that you couldn't build shit that was reasonably defendable, and NOW, even if you DO, hope you got enough gold to die, to get back into the fight defending. So it all circles back to running to the trader, selling all your shit, banking, then suicide to respawn and do another loot run. Until you have amassed enough wealth that you could feasibly defend against a raid. Between the amount of time it takes to build a base, and the cost respawning in a base, fucking pointless now. Thought this was going to be the update to bring me back in but...nah, somehow made it worse. Edit: Like a lot of games it seems, more advantage is being given to the raider, than the defender, which seems exceptionally stupid from a game that likes to be "Hyper Realistic".

Some things ask for too much fame points even being basic stuff like apples. I got 14 FP after being playing for 3 hours and selling things of a bunker in the traders, even with that I couldn't buy an apple, and on top of that once I can buy the apple is gonna spend how much of my FP? They should tell you in the description how much needs and how much it will spend of your FP. My point is you have to play too much to buy even basic stuff and you're going to end up without enough FP to buy more, at least of course that you play for a long ass time once more. As a solo player right now feels a little boring, you have to run for too much time to gear a little, begging that another/others players more equipped than you doesn't kill you. Undoubtly if they add missions, different activities for the traders and stuff like that, that gives you FP and even some money as a reward, they can make a fun loop around all of this, this game needs human npcs roaming the world, some being hostile, would be awesome if they improved this way on the pve, and of course adding those mutant experiments that they showed on pictures too. If they could made that npcs would fight between them too it would made the world feel a lot more alive/less empty, like you are just roaming around and you find for example some mercenaries fighting with some of those experiments next to a bunker at night, surrounded by mist, the vibe and terror would be incredible. I understand that adding all of this in such a massive map with so many players online has to be very difficult, but I wish they could made it.

Using fame points to buy items is just rediculous to me. It would make more sense to use it as a restriction of what could be bought. Buying food would require 0 FP, but a gun would require a certain amount of fame before they sell it to you. The better the item the more famous you would have to be; using it as currency is stupid.

75 fame for an M9 is just tooo damn much in my opinion

I get the idea of fame as a reputation to get access to different levels of trade goods but can't say I'm really a fan of it costing both money and fame to purchase stuff

That not enough fame point warning should be clearly visible tho maybe move it to where you try to cash out so players can clearly see it Entire .8 update needs serious polish

We have found some ppl are having issues with the back cards I destroyed mine and when I got killed the one who killed me found a starter card on my body even after I destroyed it and cancelled it. They still got all my money from the bank 150k drained put me to negative 2500 that needs to be fixed its happening a lot not sure if it's server issue or happening else where also. I like that there is a need for FP to buy stuff now. Keeps people from just showing up and getting decked out. Sort of throttles back the traders which is good. I don't like that it uses so many FP to buy anything because they're definitely easier to spend than to acquire.

I don't mind the use of fame points in the shops, but the fact that it doesn't show you how much you need in the shop is an epic fail on the UI design team. If you are gonna require something to be used in a game, you HAVE to let the player know the amounts so they can track it. Not just require something and force the players to play guess work.

I like the new changes with fame. Almost like getting background achievements for doing certain things. - unfortunately a few of my squad members have a bug that every single puppet they kill, they gain 5 fame. Not sure what causes it. Our characters have not been reset from 0.7 but not everyone has the bug. My own character is earning fame as intended. --- we did discover though as soon as you enter and event, it stops the crazy fame gain. - I am not sure if it reverts back on a scheduled server reset.

I’m not feeling so the fame to buy and all the bank stuff think its taken away from the survival relisticness heart of this game

I like the update, but not so much the fact that you lose fame when you purchase items at the traders. I understand and agree with needing fame to buy, but not losing it when you do. And the new cars drive like poo and get stuck easily, but I'm sure that will be fixed.

Can we ask dev to improve the vest or helmet then? Except maybe for AP rounds, Armour should be able to take a number of rounds depending on the gun too Otherwise you get easily killed on just the 1st spray ..even 1 or 2 shots on some servers who modified the damage with just a handgun, basically making vest practically useless

I can't expres how much I hate the new spawn and fame mechanic. They added this to make it harder to raid and protect weaker players/groups and they failed epically. This makes the rich raiders richer and the casual players become lambs to the slaughter. The pore lambs get shot out of there base and can't get back in time to defend. The defenders can't sector spawn because they don't have the massive funds the elite raiders have. The defenders lose and they don't have something to fall back to. The atackers just switch to a new squad to place a seconds flag and then build an attack base to respawn close to the lambs. The attackers don't care about losing some gold or fame because they are rich and have the means to grind fame.

private servers have no option to adjust banking at the moment, unless i'm missing something.

My only gripe about the new system is losing fame for purchasing from traders. Fame shouldn’t be connected to currency. Using it to unlock things at trader is good.

Really want our old vehicles back! Got 4 of those little cars stuck on rocks and can’t push them off due to the new push methods! It sucks!

I used to use my own barbed wire to reset my food water and vitamins. But never to quickly relocate.

Every Multiplayer Survival Game get Ruined with that Trader Savezone Stuff these Days. Never Buy a Game in Early Access again! They changed the Game so much, its not even the same anymore. Its so Sad to see this... and im Happy we have enogh Koop/Solo Player Survival Games with a Real Focus on Survival out there.

Just making basic game mechanics overly complex and unenjoyable when they should be focusing on fixing bugs/adding gameplay. They keep adding useless stuff that adds nothing long term for player retention.

overly complicated, just like the metabolism IMO. What the game needs is SOMETHING TO DO not more detail. Deadside was half empty and glitchy but still more engaging. Get some missions and NPC's in quick or the game will be dead before 1.0 drops. What happened to the "game show" lore? A great idea never exploited? The nuclear area is stunning but, like the killboxes, pretty much for squads only. If they dont give player something to engage them soon therw will be no-one left playing. I've got 1500 hours in scum but simply got fed up with the same unfixed glitches and the lack of anything to do...

What happens to your gold / bank balance if you rerol your character? Will that disappear?

So if the starter card doesn't have a renew limit, you should just loose it after every time you deposit money on your account, that way no one can steal your cash if they kill you. Sure you need to buy the gold card if you want to buy gold, but idk, I haven't spawn on shelter in a really long time. Usually server spawn have been enough. It's not essential to have gold one. 🤔

Weapons should be unlocked in tiers according to your fame level, and not take away fame for buying anything. E.g 100 fp - 200fp you unlock basic arms like 1887 shotgun, 38. pistol.. then next tier 200fp - 300 fp say basic police loot, like stabproof vests, mp5k etc so on... then you need to maintain that fame to keep the access. But 50 cal ammo/guns and top mil gear like SVD etc, only to found from looting.. As for gold for shelter spawn. Makes no sense, other than discouraging bed building when on an attacking raid, just make it expensive, but still available for small teams and solos to use, like $500 + maybe 🤷‍♂️ They are on the right track, just a few tweaks and the FP system will be good 👌

Do you have to have your card on you each time you use an ATM or Bank?

Ray. Will you be adjusting random and sector cost from 25 and 50. Like eg. 250 for random 500 for sector...on your server.

Looking back at what this game was supposed to be and how it was sold to us promised to us from the beginning, I feel like I’ve been slapped in the face. I don’t know how much more backwards logic I can handle. Famousness as a concept does not decline as you get good, IRL in every single famous persons journey, they increased in fame as they got along. People watch famous people do things, famousness needs to be rewarded, not punished. Why in the fuck can a fresh spawn gain loads of fame yet someone famous can’t? No sense whatsoever! Now the next nail in the coffin for me is fame going down…. when you make awesome purchases. Last I checked IRL making big time purchases didn’t suddenly make famous people a nobody. “Awh hell, Eminem bought another mansion, guess he’s just a fuckin’ pauper now.” NO, fuck no, idiots. Total crap system with the trader and fame. This is a FORCED mechanic to make players go into bunkers, killboxes, etc where there are mechs and explosive puppets. So before I would loot and sell to buy a rifle or two from the trader because I can't do the bunkers regardless of how many times I tried. This is why I don't play in the DZ in Division 2 for the exclusive loot in their. I am still playing, interacting, looting, killing, etc but will be punished for not going into a bunker where the death rate is ridiculously high. Nah, this is why I'll just keep playing single player, spawn in my own stuff and never experience the game because they added this system.

I'm gonna catch some flak on this,but...I think the banking/credit card system is just plain stupid. Even before this update I feel an abandoned prison island would be more in the lines of a barter system over a cash/credit economy. The only saving grace woulda been if you could rob the bank..lol

You can right click the starter card in inventory and destroy it. That way it can't be looted.

The fame looting is broken, looted navy base, Trainyard, got tons of loot, some rare guns and gear, maybe 10 fp in total.

Why have you given the modular car system such a wide berth? The complete removal of 10 vehicles to implement a janky, broken modular VW.

This update kinda kill the game for me. I can't make my own hidden base/stash so I can horde stuff to it. Because if I die I'm gona spawn in the other side of the map. Also stupid to sell stuff to make money if I can't use the money to buy gear/guns because of the fame.... makes no sense that u use Dollars and fame as currency! U actually should gain fame from buy stuff from traders, not lose it.....

Oh you mean the starter card I've cut up about 6 times so far forgetting I had it nd making a bag out of my shirt...I know I can get another for free but still its funny.

It’s not basically a ‘reputation thing’. It’s literally a second currency. I hate this update so far it negatively affected multiple aspects of the game for me. I think I’ll go unheard

im not gonna lie i play with 8 pals of mine we joined a server of around 30 just for fun and chill we raided 3 small bases then the next day the server was next to empty so we asked the admin and he said they left so we left honestly ive always liked this game it was one of the first games i got for the pc even got all the supporter stuff just to help it along but this has honestly ruined the game imo its not fair on smaller groups and its boring for bigger groups when everyone leaves its like wow we won we have base on a solo server now wooptie doo smh...... i honestly think everyone would be much happier if the just added a bank modular base building and new clothes for male characters just my opinion hope everybody has a nice christmas peace

geeze way to make small groups or solo players not play... honestly couldn't wait for this patch now its a take it back situation not that i ever use the trader ... ever i generally loot everything i need but the whole respawn now costs bank balance gonna make you know bombies a more wack system and oh my them mech's random C4 bleeds insanely expensive not to mention going in to farm up some pheonix tears something your just like eh... no i have to ...well large clans will now continue to control the game while everyone else gets screwed cause those large squads will just go insane farming everything they want then hit the smaller players for what they want... yep how do i get my money back for the game now? i'd much rather put my money in another companies pocket that will release something that isn't crap.

Charging fame to use vendors is just trash. Dumbest idea. You should lose no fame nor gain any fame for using them.

Someone can still use phoenix tears to revive you or add some money to your account so it’s not really that scary permadeath 🤷🏻‍♂️

Makes no damn sense. Needlessly complicating one of the fundamental mechanics of your game is not the same as creating interesting and enjoyable content. Hopefully, Gamepires will understand that someday.
