This was a Guncannon D model, as depicted in 0080. In their appearance for that OVA, they were shot down before they ever got to do anything. This one could've been doing this to avenge his brothers. Otherwise it's just giving us a chance to see what these would've done in live combat. XD
Their ship is a Gabthley. On board is a Qubeley, blue Acguy, Gouf, Sazabi, Alpha Azieru, old man Zaku 1 and the Gundam Alex. It's funky to see cartoony SDs alongside the detailed MS.
@@fishpop on a technicality the alex was in the short. For some un GODLY reson if you look the gundam like not sd one. Its the alex in rx78-2 colors. This was low budget
@@tachunkathelord2875 While similar it is actually significantly different from the Alex. No gatling guns, no verniers on the sides of the legs, the shoulders are slightly different and the torso is closer to the original Gundam, plus the old equipment. This is certainly a pretty fun redesign of the Gundam/early draft of the Alex, also neat to see the Gouf in a different style. I'm legit sad they never backported these into canon in someway, there's quite a lot of obscure variations in here to enjoy! It's interesting to compare this and wonder what the Alex would look like if it had been redesigned in the older style. It probably would have looked like a mix of Mudrock and 7th.
I get this back when Izubuchi's redesigns were treated as redesigns rather than new models... still it's a bit sad the Gouf still looks relatively normal, it'd be interesting to see a more 0080 style variant of the Gouf.
You also just got to love how they 0080'd up the RX-78-[0]2 Gundam for its brief appearance. Just for a quick gag where Amuro ends up stepping on an SD character. If this MK IV short were to be made today, they'd probably use The Origin design as Bandai/Sunrise have been pushing that as the definitive modern redesign of the iconic Gundam.
@@kirkdyteo993 Based on the animation model of the Gundam we see in this short, its shoulders, skirts, torso unit, and back pack appear to be based on the NT1 Alex, with the legs being similar but lacking the large thrusters, rather than the RX78-2. The head, shield, and beam rifle, and colours are the RX78-2 colours though. There isn't really a 'source' so to speak but if you compare an image of the Alex to the Gundam see here, the similarities are fairly clear.
3:31 Imagine the federation's reaction when they saw one of their ships that just got launched immediately blow up Earth Federation: WTF just happened?!?!
Oh look, it's the Doozy Bots! :D Jokes aside, I haven't seen this episode of SD Gundam but I love how the contrast of the simplistic design of the super deformed and the realist ones is just seamless, so well drawn and animated. Love the redesign look of the 0079 MS so much and how they show some scenes that were only mentioned like the launch of the Federation fleet at Jaburo, but poor little guys can't catch a break in their excursion. ^^
2:49 Guncannon Mass-Produced pilot:.... WHAT THE HECK ARE THESE? 2:51 Guncannon Mass-produced pilot: *KABLAM* ! GET OUT OF THE WAY! 3:34 One of the Federation ships explode after the sd gunplas fell into them, messing things up Guncannon Mass-produced pilot: I.... might head out
F***ing love the Gundam 0080 style of mech animation. Never seen the RX-78-2 with the 0080 style. This was before they started giving variations from different mech designers for shows their own names. For example the Variations of the Zaku were just Zakus, in 0080. So when they made this SD skit in that style, they kept the 0080 design, despite most these mechs shouldn't be seen in the battles they're showing them in. But yet seeing the OG Gundam with RX-78-NT-1 Features is pretty cool. Seeing variations of the Gelgoog before it was called the Gelgoog Jager but with OG Gelgoog Green colors is also really cool. I even see a Zaku Commander type in the 0080 style, with the horn on it's head despite such a Commander Type doesn't exist canon wise for the Zaku Kai from 0080. This clip is a treasure to see.
thank you so much for this I have been wanting to see this for years. love the animation style from Gundam 0080! It is my second favorite after Katoki's style from Gundam 0083
I never knew this type of works where SD characters came into the "real world." The proportion of RX-78 Gundam in this video looks like that of a figurine from "GUNDAM Ultimate Operation" series released under the name of FUSION WORKS brand which BANDAI and a famous garage-kit manufacturer VOLKS collaborate on.
For those uninformed The Gundam and Guncannon here are both from War in the Pocket (Guncannon Mass Production Type and Alex respectively) They're just colored to resemble the original one so that's neat (plot twist this is an alternate UC where Amuro gets a hold of the Alex as his unit)
now this just begs the question, what would happen if the SD universe fully crossed over with the main branch's and divergent branches of the gundam timelnes in a full story line
It exists ! It's called the Guncannon MP, the kit is based on the 0080 OVA so there could be some minor differences with the design shown here but overall it should be the same.
Love how they are completely ignored the SD fellas while the rest of them are fighting. They should’ve do using Optic Camp generator without getting noticed.
...I really want to see the looks on the 0078's Human's faces if they saw the SDs... I dunno why I imagined Haman Khan walking out and 'asking' if someone slipped Psychedelics into the ventilation system...
