Really good video. I have the same Eakins scope but I have the articulating gas strut arm mounted to the wall. That is a game changer since it can be moved almost anywhere over the bench and no vibration from the desk. The Eakins scope really is a pleasure to use coupled with the Eakins 37MP 3700W FHD 1080P camera 0.5x c-mount and 0.5x barlow lens. I've had mine for just over 18 months now and use it all day every working day. If it broke tomorrow I'd buy another hands down.

Hi there and thanks for the review! :-) I have a question for you if I may, when setting up the camera I realized the camera view is more or less half of what you see in the scope.. and that was a big disappointment. I got the same 0,5X adapter for C-Mount that you have.. can this be changed with a different adapter? I see there is possible to get 1X and 0,35X too.. any of this will solve the problem? Also the eye pieses was pretty bad.. wonder if there is possible to get only 10X eye pieces.. not the 10/20 combination.. From Before I have a Meiji EMZ-5 and the Eakins is so much darker and less clear.. and almost a little yellowish. I have also ordered a Zeiss Stemi 508 Trinocular, but the delivery time is up to 5 months and I have a student coming in a couple of weeks, so I just had to get a trinocular quick.. but if this is the camera view, I´m not sure it´s usable at all.. :-) Hope you found a solution for this.

Thanks for this one! I recently ordered same microscope. I havent recieved it yet but ofcourse it doesnt come with camera. I was checking out the cameras for microscopes on Ali Xpress. Is there any particular type of Camera and or attachment's made specifically for this scope? Or will any 23.2mm camera fit on the already supplied camera attachment? Also do you have any recommendations on any better camera attachments than the one supplied. Thanks again for the video.

Hi is it normal to have totally different views, between the camera and what you see through the eyecups of the microscope. I want to be able to record repair videos, but there is such a great difference between views, that if I use the microscope view, the recorded view is nowhere near to the repair site. I have set the focus so both microscope and camera are in focus at the same time. I dont know if I'm doing something wrong, I've tried matching the Barlow lenses, but nothing seems to make any difference, any help would be much appreciated, regards Andy

However the image I'm seeing looking down the scope isn't the same as the image shown on either hdmi or usb, directly to computer. I have just purchased this microscope with the 37mp camera. Being my first microscope im unsure if these are issues or not. The image on the camera is not what i see through the eyepieces. Given the camera mount has 0.5x lens on it the camera gives twice the magnification which is a bit annoying when trying to get what your doing in view on camera. I can also not get the image in focus perfectly. The edges of the image begin to blur. is there a diferent camera mount without the 0.5x lens in it?

Great video ! Quick question what is the approximate distance from the centre of the objective lens to the eye cups ? (i.e. the distance the user can be sat back from the item being viewed). The reason I am asking is from an ergonomics perspective and avoiding having to lean forward or bend the neck
@pr0xZen
@pr0xZen 2 года назад
I know this is old, but having a bad neck injury myself, and having spent several years staring into this scope (the "identical" AmScope) - thought I could chip in. I'm not near the microscope atm so I can't give explicit measurements. But for me, the angle on the scope/ports themselves are ok. But the trick to reasonable ergonomics while working through this scope, in my experience, is not in the scope itself. But rather, having it on a motorized adjustable "standing desk". This enables reasonable back and neck posture, without hunching. Your arms come up a little bit more, but if you're doing soldering, especially microsoldering, then you _really_ should be resting your whole forearm from elbow to the side of your palms, on the table anyway; the only things moving to navigate the soldering iron/hot air handle/tweezers, being your fingers. Doing this so the larger muscles in your arms and shoulders are at rest, preventing the small tremors and twitches of those large muscles when under tension, from traveling down your arms and attenuating at your fingertips. For more ideal ergonomics, thinking in longer terms, switching to a good quality C-mount camera microscope and a low latency monitor (if splurging then 120 or 144 hz camera and monitor), is the way to go. Quality lighting is better and cheaper, working room under the scope is much better this way too. Lower weight too, so if you want an articulated arm to easily adjust and move away the scope when not in use, that is tight and stable so the image don't shake - those get cheaper too. Live video feed through USB is useless for working, but over HDMI (or DisplayPort) there's no noticable input lag with computer monitors. There may be more, noticable delay if viewed on a TV (because of image processing), at least one without a good game mode setting. So while dirt cheap 42-48" IPS 4k TVs may be great for schematics, instructions, static images etc - those are not so good for live, working microscope feeds. But there is a significant learning curve though, adapting to different eye-hand coordination and the lack of stereoscopic depth perception. But if you _do_ choose to take it on though, you'll frankly never need worry about the ergonomics of working under the microscope again.

Thank you for a great review. My only concern with this microscope is if it is wobbly during work because of the single arm boom and stand pipe. I need a microscope for my computer repair shop. I will not be working using microscope more than a few times a week.
@phibel9303
@phibel9303 4 года назад
I have the same microscope. The shaking/wobbling comes from the weak base plate, I replaced the original base plate with a 6mm steel plate from my local dealer. Now the microscope is perfectly stable! There are also much more stable microscope stands in the Eakins Aliexpress Store, but the shipping costs for those more stable stands are very high, due to the increased weight. The arm/pipes/joins of the microscope stand are very stable, it is only the thin and light metal of the base plate that leads to this wobbling...

I have the same microscope. I bought a x0.3 barlow lense to get a higher working distance and a straighter seat position. My microscope has an diopter adjustment range of +/- 5dp, depending on the diopter setting, the working distance is between 200mm to 305mm. My eyes have around -6 dioptres and I work always without my glasses. Without glasses I have a working distance between 135mm to 225mm. I use the microscope diopter adjustment to compensated the ~0,75 difference between my eyes and the remaining adjustment possibility to get a comfortable working height. The end of the eyepieces is about ~265mm above the bottom of the barlow lense, it depends of the barlow lense, the x0.5 is a little bit lower than the x0.3 lens.
