Your song sounded a lot like Tenacious D lol. I really love your videos. Informative and extremely entertaining! Even if I'm not interested in the mic I still watch!
Hey thanks so much! You know, I get the Tenacious D reference about as much I get the Robin Williams one. I very much appreciate both! And thanks for watching! Cheers!
@@MarkYoshimotoNemcoff yes but does it SOUND like I’m in a well? Haha. Yeah, I’m still trying to figure out how to mount the GoPro in there. I’ll try to get it lower. The HyperCard AND the figure 8 sounded amazing. I wasn’t expecting that. Great mic.
I really want a stereo pair of these they sound so good. I've heard percussion sounds from these (I think some Bollywood people use them now as they sound good on Tabla), acoustic, violin.. everything I like. Probably wouldnt be my first choice on cabs, but for fast picking/shreddy stuff it should come across better than an 87.
I hate you ❤ guess I’ll have to find out what this sounds like on a Welsh voice! On another note, your British ‘that’s another video altogether’ sounds like Del Preston from Wayne’s world 2,
For the love of God, stop, I can't be broke before Christmas! (Awesome review as always, by the way, and on an unrelated note, I thoroughly enjoyed your VO performance for Lauten Audio's Rim Mount.)
Oh hahah. Well thank you! I’m not a great singer. I have poor control of my voice. I was always a backup singer back in my band days. I’ve been writing and selling songs and orchestral scores for years and years, but was not usually the performer. Just composer. Cheers!
That’s the way to buy one! The T1 review is coming in mere weeks. If you’re anything like me, you watch reviews of products you already have, hoping they’re positive ones. Haha. Well, it will be. Cheers!
@@TheRecordist yep, guilty. lol. would you be willing to compare the T1 to the Roswell mini K87 when you are testing it please? My guess is the T1 is more "gritty"
@@jonbuder I will eventually be doing a comparison between many of them. The T2 is faster and less smooth. The Mini K87 is very rich and smooth. Rounded.
Hahahah. So sorry about that. I try to get my hands on really good, timeless products and review them here. Eventually I’ll have reviewed all the best ones at varying price points and then it’s all here to decide between for viewers. Until then, it’s a new great one every week! Oh I’m sure I’ll come across some crappy ones on the way, so you’ll have a break then. Hahaha. Cheers!
@@Dwoalin hahaha. So sorry. The 208 is a killer mic but it’s best suited for closeup VO type stuff like ad reads as a way to cut through. But honestly, it takes EQ so well, it can be used for anything. The T2 is a spectacular mic for narration or for all kinds of music recording. It’s a Jack of all trades. But the T2 does have a bit of a mid-kick. Hard choices, eh? Best way to do it is to try to find a way to test them out.
Hey there. For the talking head parts, I recorded directly into a Sound Devices MixPre 6 II recorder. That’s it. For the booth part, I recorded into a Grace M101 preamp and then into the Arturia AudioFuse X8 IN, which then feeds my Apollo Twin X by way of ADAT optical.
John, glad to see you survived T2! I’m generally not a fan of multi pattern mics….I like to it simple. Oh…T1? But….that looks like real doozie! Ps, you’re lookn good in the booth…….sounding good to!
I have one of these mics and their Se2200, which is also an awesome low budget condenser mic. I think they always sound a lot more expensive than they are. I’ve always had a hankering for their Gemini but it’s way too expensive for me :( Another outstanding video from you :)
Fantastic video and mic! And this review leaves me with one question: If you had to pick just one for spoken word audio, which would be the better choice-the T2 or the 4400? (This is for those who don’t have the chance to try both before buying). And please don’t say ‘get both’! 😄
Hahaha. Thank you! Well, it depends, if you have a very middy voice, or have a voice that can be resonant in a bad way, I would get the 4400. If you have a rounder, more dull voice, or a deep voice, I would go with the T2. Hope this helps!
@@TheRecordist Thanks, this definitely helps a lot! I have a deeper voice, so I’m leaning toward the T2. Going back and forth between this video and your previous one with the 4400, I’m noticing the T2 is much crisper, while the 4400 feels warmer. Honestly, I love both of them!
Yes. That was also great version. The Serkis version has been wildly popular of late - becoming one of the top sellers on Audible. And thanks very much!
@@TheRecordist Gotcha. I hadn’t seen any photo/video of Andy’s recording sessions, but read somewhere online that he’d used an EB. The fact that he used a T2 instead of an EB is good news: he has a great sound in his audiobooks, and that T2 is galactically less expensive than an EB. Thanks!
@@TheRecordistSo I poked around on the internet and found a bunch of closeup photos of Andy reading various Tolkien books, and sure enough, you’re right, he’s using a T2 instead. I stand corrected. I’ll never doubt you again, oh Great Microphone Sage.
@@2ZipZoomFly hahahaha. Oh man, let me tell you. It was a bit of a hunt for me. I listened to The Hobbit during several road trips to my parents house. I kept wondering which mic this was. So I did everything I could to find out. Once I learned it was for sure the T2, I had to find one for myself. So that lead to the whole story I told in the video. Yessir. The T2. What a mic!
@@TheRecordist So. I have listened to all of Andy's Tolkien audiobooks and loved the sound of his voice. I have a similar-ish, deeper voice like Andy's (less gravel, but mostly just bass & sibilance...), and, while I love my 416, I wanted a fast, articulate mic for longer-form stuff, and have been trying to find a good 414 EB for awhile now because that's what I thought Andy used. I just ordered a new T2. I'll report back in 2 weeks when it arrives. Thanks for saving me a mountain of money!
@@simonsayshomeassistant oh thanks very much! My studio is more gear than visual appeal. Haha. Unfinished basement. Tons of moving blankets and layers of curtains everywhere. But it looks great on camera! One day I’ll finish the studio but no time soon. I have videos to make! Cheers!
