Hey guys,
So this time out we set out to a new spot for me again. We were to the left of totlnad bay, by the lifeboat house.
struggled this session but did find a crab I have never seen before.
Thank you to everyone for all your support, advice and kind words, I'm really enjoying this little journey.
All the best,
frugal

Its not always about catching fish mate. The knowledge you gain using different rigs and baits and trying different venues is priceless as your experience grows. Well done for sticking it out 👍

You'll always be Frugal to me. You're not doing anything wrong, every session is a learning one. I suggest keeping a diary everytine you fish. Tide, weather, air pressure, bait etc. Sometimes going to same mark knowledge is gained more. Check at liwtide & nosey what's on the HT mark. Gives clues to what fish are feeding on & where gullies, channels to cast into or near. One rod in short ( flapper 2 up/1 down with small lug/rag offering on) & other as far as you can cast( big baits/hooks). Mostly enjoy yourself & we will too. Big hug xxx

Awesome Kevser, thanks for that, I always try and blast them out as far as I can, but now you say that, quite often I see other people staying closer with the scratching rig. Really appreciate the support😊

Hello Dylan, I am with you, I fished the Lifeboat station Sunday evening, similar tactics, size 2 hooks, 2 hook flapper all along both groynes and a bigger bait as far as I could cast, a good way, I used to fish the Essex and Suffolk coast. result same as you. I fished 2 hours up and down, a couple of iffy bites, but mainly bait returned as cast out. I tried rag, big and small size baits, rag tipped with bluey, sandeels, big and small, bluey only and tried refreshing baits every 25 minutes. I have fished the pier area before and caught small fish in daylight, advised by a local of rays after dark. look forward to meeting you out there, someday. thanks for filming

Hey Alan, yeah that was definitely the quietest session I've had. I don't have much experience and haven't been fishing long really, so it did knock my confidence. It looks really fishy there. Originally I was going to go further to the left. I have also heard that the pier area is good for rays. I'm mainly after food for the dinner table. I've never caught bream or any sort of flat fish, so I'm super pumped to get one. Hope to see you out there mate. 👍

Never apologise for not catching. It was an enjoyable video despite the lack of fish. I had lots of fish from Bonchurch beach near Ventnor when I was on holiday a few years ago. Have you tried there? Keep trying, you won’t catch anything if you don’t fish. I live 70 miles from the sea so I can’t fish at the moment content like yours keeps me entertained.

Hi Robert, I feel for you living that far from the coast. Where ever I've lived, I've always been on the coast. So feel very fortunate. I haven't tried over there, I have been there once before on a walk, but that was before the fishing bug got me. I'll have to give it a go. Appreciate the support dude, thank you👍

Hi Frugal, great to see another video, I’m feeling your pain at the moment. Better times are just around the corner I’m sure. You’ll hit a good mark and catch some good fish and wonder what all the fuss was about. We all blank now and then, even the so called experts. The main thing is to keep trying. It’ll come good, trust me. There’s nothing wrong with your gear or your rigs or your bait. Maybe you’ll get them next time 🐟

Thanks Chris, I really appreciate that, its hard being a newbie sometimes, knowing you haven't got all the singing and dancing rods, or the the fancy trident rigs etc. It does knock the confidence a bit. It will come good. Such a buzz when you get one👍👍

Same here newbie! I've seen some people used rolling lead in beaches but heavy enough to keep your line straight this way the rolling lead will find some deep patches to roll in to where fish likes to hide. Give it a shot nothing worst than blanks. Keep going la!

Hey bud. Good video again.. Your not doing anything wrong fishing wise in my opinion. If anything I think its the marks your fishing. Try researching more through forums etc and go to where fish are none to be. Build your confidence a bit.. Good call dropping hook sizes on both rigs.. It will pay off in the right venue with the right bait. Keep it up 🐟🐟🐟

Stick with it, especially when the water starts to warm up. Small hooks/small baits is a good call. Try different casting distances. Gentle lobs can be productive. Don’t always need to hit the horizon.

Awesome video mate yet again, don’t think your doing anything wrong at all. Good quality bait, Awesome attitude. Would always say some 14ft rods may be something to think about if you ever choose to upgrade, just for those extra few yards and your apparent style of fishing. However not essential seem to hit good distance anyway. If you ever fancy trying your hand at carp fishing check out Forest ponds. Best regards J

Went down Totland start of last week, nothing, went again couple days later, plagued by congers, it happens mate, fishing isn't great atm anyway in a bit of a quiet period of the year. Was down chale Sunday night got a conger, I knew 3 other groups down there that blanked. Weather hasn't helped either a lot of northerly winds 🙄 keep going in that spot with the squid and mackerel you'll catch something eventually 👍

Do you not try and fish anywhere else around the island plenty of good places to catch, I have always caught nice good size fish, from thornback rays painted rays Pollock ect.. good video though Dylan 👍.. have you tried off Norton wall I have had dog fish there using squid and the you get plenty of bass there mackerel.. and off fort vic had bass there Pollock off Yarmouth pier..as you walk up near to the end of the pier there are some White bait trays go around about 5 foot back from them..cast where the fairy comes in their is a ledge there and you will feel it hit the bottom and that's where they are 👍.. and there are more places to go. Shanklin ,ventnor ,brook sandown, blackgang ,Newtown creek, whale chine , bonchurch, Hampstead, ect

Maybe to the left ill have a go. I really want food for the table. So pollock bass mackerel, any flat fish. Kept a couple of dogfish and made scampi, it was so good. Thanks again bud 👍

@@FrugalOutdoors Yes it can get busy up the pier. But normally at the end but if you go up there don't go right up the end I think it's just before the gate Dylan. you need to cast where the ferry goes in there is a ledge there and I have caught Pollock there 2lb was the biggest on squid. And norton wall in front of the hotel 👍

Hi There, I really liked your video, I am fishing similar to what you do here in Scotland, I bet, I have more blanks here than you do, we have a lot fewer species here to catch. Just keep going, if there are no fish around or not feeding, there is nothing you can do. The only thing I would suggest is to leave the baits in the water longer if you haven't got crabs stealing your bait. I subscribed to your channel and maybe you can have a look at my channel if you get a chance. I also use just some cheap Fladen setup, 2 rods, 2 reels plus rod holder, I bought them for £70 15 years ago and they still going strong. Tight Lines my friend
