Octopus, cuttlefish and mackerel!! After what felt like forever there was a break in the weather so Fishlocker Jnr and I headed out to restock the bait freezer.
Just finished watching this John & I must say that this is the best UK based sea angling channel on RU-vid bar none, is there anything you can't catch? Catching octopus is one thing but catching them by design is another UK first, also knowing how they are going to attack the bait & the signs to look for is not something most watching RU-vidrs would have any clue about, I've heard you mention a few times that every day is a school day, well we're all being schooled by you every time you release a video!! Can't wait for the next one!!
Shore Fishing Essex - This is it mate. We all share this wonderful passion. So why not share the things we know about it. You don’t need to know a lot to be able to share it with people. I am still learning every day. All the best to you and yours mate. 😊👍🏻🎣🐙
I thought that at first John but that's an old government department & it used to be with two F's at the end, it could be mission aviation fellowship? I hate trying to work out acronyms!!
John seems like a genuine kind hearted guy who just wants to share the joy he gets from fishing and nature with the world. I have no idea how I found this channel but I’m glad I did.
- I have no idea how you got here but I'm glad you found us. Welcome to our channel, I hope you enjoy our content - we are simply sharing what we love doing. If you have any questions about any of the videos just leave me a comment and ill try and get back to you as soon as I can. All the best. :)
Greetings from across the pond (Barnegat, NJ). Started taking my son out fishing at age 3. That was 31 years ago. Now he runs the boat and all I have to do is concentrate on the fish. Very much enjoy your videos and I wish you as much joy as I have experienced over the years fishing with my son.
Richard Siegel - That sounds like a brilliant setup. I hope my son and I can share this passion until I can sit back and let him take the helm. All the best to you and your family Richard. 😊👍🏻🎣💙🐟
Peridos - Thank you, it is something I hope transfers across in my videos. Hopefully through seeing my example others may adopt a similar behaviour. 😊👍🏻🎣
So amazing to see those cuttlefish up close. And sweetJames is so adorable. So tiny then. I love what was then a little mouse’s voice❤❤ much love to all of you dear Lockers
Your son is precious, and I love the way you two interact. Well done. You are a super dad and you wife is a great mom. Best and most knowledgeable fishing and seashore gathering RU-vid channel ever. Thank you for sharing your experience.
I love how you teach us to basics and little details that experienced anglers may forget to mention. Please, if you can keep mentioning the little details. I'd like to take my son fishing when he's older. Only 7 months now so he's got a few years to go. Love this channel. Thank you.
Chad Hinton - I know your eagerness Chad. I have been waiting since before my son was born to teach him these things. So long as you and he are having fun, all the rest will fall in to place. 😊👍🏻🎣💙
Another excellent video John 👍. Fair play for teaching your young lad fishing. My father has had boats since he was 13, I am not kidding, and he taught me to fish, collect bait etc when I was very young. It's now more than 30 years later and still the best skills anyone has ever taught me. You should be very proud to be doing the same for your lad. Your son actually really reminds me of myself when I was around that age. Fish Locker is my favourite you tube fishing channel 🐙🐙🐙
@@TheFishLocker o don't you dare sir. Yes we only see snippets of your life that we are blessed that you have decided to share but from what we see you're top notch and James will remember these days when he's older and teaching his kids to fish. (Hopefully we'll have fish in the ocean still by that time). Continue to do the best you can sir. Well done.
I’m sorry but I have to comment, the way your bringing your boy up is an absolute inspiration, I love your videos I’m addicted, keep doing what you do and never stop. Your a top man John👍🏻
- Thank you very much and welcome to our channel. If you have any questions about the videos please just leave me a comment. Take care and have a nice day. :D
Rik M - Thanks Rik, we are pretty good all rounder anglers and love getting amongst it as a family. What’s better than doing what you love, with the people you love? 😊🎣💙
Your son is so comfortable in the boat and on the sea tossing around haha. He'll be a patient fisherman like you. I enjoy watching your channel. I've never been fishing in my life, but I like seeing what you catch or find on shore, and I learn a lot from you. You're a good teacher. God bless.
Janice Patricia - Thank you Janice. I am very pleasure to hear you are enjoying our videos and finding them informative. I wish you all the best and have a great weekend.😊👍🏻💙🎣🐟
all that knowledge and talent should be on TV, guys like yourself and Greame at TA have done so much for the sport, keep it up and thank you for putting in the hard work.
- Thank you Graham, it is our pleasure. As we have said all along mate, we are simply sharing what we love doing in the hope it helps others learn and enjoy it to. :)
Second one I've watched and totally HOOKED. Great to see a Man and his young family have a great time. And it's all captured on camera. That is priceless.
- Thats awesome, I'm glad to see you are enjoying working your way through our content. What type of content are you enjoying the most so far? I like to think we have a little bot for everyone. 😊
What a wonderful video, as someone who spent many happy weeks boat fishing off the Brittany Coast it was lovely to watch you both having fun catching mackerel, hunting for octopus and hoping to see dolphin. Thank you
Omg I have never heard a squit spit out water, that was sooo cool😊 I've watched animal show's since I was a child and finally as an adult I'm seeing something so awsome! Thank you!
Tiina Saviir - Tiina, it is our pleasure. As I have said from the beginning, of our videos are teaching people new things or helping them out then they are worth making. All the best. 😊👍🏻🎣💙

Alan Wright - Thank you very much Alan. We are simply sharing what we love doing. Definitely come down to Cornwall in the summer it is a wonderful place with so much to offer. Maybe just not right now. Haha. Wait till all this illness has passed.
I’m chuffed your subscriber count has gone through the roof I subscribed when you was on less than a thousand, Definately deserve it mate your videos are second to none and I can’t be the only one to say your videos have helped me tenfold as an angler, Cheers 👍🏻
Salty Pirate - Thank you. I have been passionate about the sea and the wonderful array of creatures living in and around it for many years. All the best. 😊💙🎣
I absolutely love your videos. So wonderful to see that quality time spent with your family and the lessons passed on to your son is just fantastic. Just wonderful to watch all around!
- Thank you Melissa, I am so glad that I have been able to share these things with my little boy and that we have these videos to watch back over. He loves being out on the boat. :)
Outstanding again mr locker, locker junior makes me smile with his comments 🙂 thought he said testicles and not tentacles for a second🤔 😀 thank you for sharing , can’t wait for the next one 🎣
greens117 - That is fantastic to hear, kids are not the intended audience but it is great if you can get her interested in wildlife and the world outside at a young age. We are hoping to start organising local beech meets to teach people about the wildlife on our shores.
Another great video John, with Fishlocker Junior on top form as usual! Some fantastic Mackerel there - far too good for bait! Time to get the fillet knife & frying pan out! 👍👍
No fussing with that lad, decent bit of weather and no bother at all! Not be too long and he'll be wanting to skip school to be out with his old man catching monsters :)
- Thank you very much, we are simply sharing what we love doing. I have a few ideas for some new types of footage I the coming months. Just need this weather to sort itself out. :)
I find your videos fascinating. I live in land locked Calgary Alberta Canada. Whenever I am by the ocean I am constantly walking the beach to see what has washed up. I am happy to see what a patient father you are and that your wife is with you sometimes. Family is #1..
I have to say i learn more about the ocean and fish from you than anyone else John....You always seem to make it interesting and informative for us,Well done mate keep it up!
david mellor - Thats truly great to hear David. If our videos can help educate and nurture a passion for marine life then that is fantastic. Through education and understanding, proper conservation is possible. 😊👍🏻🎣🐙
- Hi David, I have just seen a comment flash up from you on our recent Night time foraging video with the HUGE lobster - and I can't find it. I'm hoping you get this one. I couldn't read the whole of the comment as the notification doesn't show long messages. Can you send it again? Dated 21:55 - 19/6/2020
Can't believe just how deadly them cuttle fish are..You said it would cave the head in on a live bait.. Keep these vid's coming John, best sea fishing vid's on you tube...and stay safe
- Thank you very much. I am glad that you are enjoying our content and have picked up on our message. It is also a lesson we are teaching our children. Never take more than you need and always treat the natural world with respect and appreciation. Best wishes and stay safe. :)
My favourite dishes in the world: spaghetti and risotto with cuttlefish ink. chop up the whole cuttlefish. Ink sack on the side ready for later. Gently fry cuttlefish with garlic in good olive oil. Don't burn the garlic. Add 1-2 tins of chopped tomatoes or fresh equivalent if they give you heartburn like me. Add a slosh of white wine. Reduce (i do until I see the oil). Salt when you want, as you want. A smidge of sugar (shhhhh!). Add the jealously guarded ink. Like you would with cream, give it 15-30 secs, job done. Bit of parsley at the end suits it well. Get some great spaghetti, better if from Gragnano. To boil 300gr of pasta boil 2 litres of water, don't do it in a semi empty pan like some people lol. Pasta goes in when the water is on a rolling boil. Drain it when you are happy with consistency. Try it. Now you have cooked pasta and sauce. Mix and enjoy. RIsotto is more complicated to write but I'm happy to show you if you get catching hehe
- Hi Jayjay and welcome to our channel. I am glad that you share our family values. My wife and I made the conscious choice that our children would grow up with a love and appreciation of wildlife and the outdoors. And I think they will be happier and healthier for that. We all love getting out and about on the shore, in the woods or on the boat :)
Well done John! Best fishing channel on RU-vid I enjoy every video of yours and have learned so much with you! Thanks for sharing so much. Wish you did fishing trips for more people I would be on your boat every weekend!😂😂😂😂 All the best mate.
alexandre xandao - Thank you Alexandre, we have done “Fishlocker charters” before and I do occasionally crew on a charter boat. We will see what next year holds. 😉👍🏻🎣🛥
Wonderful video and just when I thought it couldn't get any better you add in the go pro footage from the seabed. Inspired programming. Particularly enjoy the enthusiasm of your mini you! Definitely quality time with dad. Thanks again.
Great show! We get Spiny Dogfish. Delightful, two venomous spines, welcome to Canada eh? Loved your fishing and your son is awesome! I have never seen a Cuttlefish caught like that before, very cool!!!
- We also get Spurdogs here. A large spike behind each dorsal fin. I love fishing with our son, he makes me so proud. Have a nice day Kerry and take care. :)
