There are some Beach Fishing Basic Tips we all need reminding of. Here are 8 Tips that I think all Sea Anglers should know.
Please let us know in the comments if you always make sure you do these 8 Things or if, like me you need a reminder from time to time.
It’s amazing how just forgetting something like the bait elastic could ruin a days fishing.
You can join my email List here;

Download the checklist I mention in the Video here;

Watch this Video here where other RU-vidrs give their ONE piece of advice for Sea Angling.
As always Please comment on the Video I’m always interested to know what you’re up to with your fishing as we move in to Autumn.

Brilliant video Matt and so many important themes. For me it’s all about preparation both at home and on the beach. Keep your kit as clean as possible and in the best condition. Take things steady, so yes slow down and think. Always be in a position to change tactics and be open to trying new things. Above all, keep yourself safe, hydrated and always carry a small first aid kit!

In general I’m very organised person. On one occasion I was taking my kayak out. Got to the venue dropped the kayak at the waters edge, got everything out of my truck & put it on the kayak. Went & parked, started to walk to the kayak & thought, oh, get your paddle. Then I discovered, I’d forgotten it. I was 60 mile from home, & it was 4.30am, so there was no way I would phone my wife & ask her to bring my paddle. Stripped it down again, drove home, got the paddle, then went back. I finally got on the water at about 9.00am. Lesson learned. Always have a check list.

Crikey there’s a lesson there Ian, I used to have hand paddles in the hull of mine, not a bad second best !

@@SaltwaterAngler I had a Hobie S.O.T. Despite having everything all sitting together in the garage, lots of things used to get moved / lost when kids go rummaging through it lol. I only ever do that sort of thing once though. I’ve had mates do similar things too, so I don’t have to feel like such a muppet.

Hi Matt downloaded your check list and unless my eyes deceive me couldn't find BAIT. Bit of an essential that. I like the fall in bag, I always have a full change of clothes in the van as nothing worse than driving home in your skivvies.

Fishing for over 50 years I STILL use a checklist. So easy to forget one vital piece of kit. 'Fish bag and hand rag' (towel)' essential! I've used tapered leaders since they were invented - before that we used to roll the leader under a sandpaper block to thin the 60 lb line. It worked but the line was a bit rough!
@SaltwaterAngler
@SaltwaterAngler 10 месяцев назад
Ohh yes that towel rag is often forgotten

Hi mate great tips and my self I use a leader on braid as that will snap before my rod does 😂 but another tip I can give is be safe , as the tide comes in , look for your escape points I know we have all fell fowl to it at one time or another ( not admitting anything 😅) but yes safety when fishing is something iv taking for granted for years as iv fished beaches and cliffs since I was a youngen but I’m now teaching my son and the things I take for granted as it’s second nature to me I realise he doesn’t know and I’m relearning it from his point of view ,,, every day is a school day 😂, great vids mate keep it up 👍

Great video with useful tips thanks Matt. As you say, we often forget some of the finer points. Standing joke with a mate of mine about how long it takes me to get set up. I try to look after my gear - All of my reels have cases, and all of my rods are in the original bags, so by the time I've got set up and got a bait out, he's probably caught 4 or more fish! 😁 Stay safe & well, Dave. 🎣🎣👍👍

Some great tips and I think the taking more time with everything is probably 1 of the most important , Personally I'd always use a Mono Leader no matter how strong the braid is , the braid has no give in it to soak up the cast which is turn puts lots of force on the the eye's resulting in ceramics cracking
@SaltwaterAngler

Will be downloading your checklist, no matter how organised i think i am i still forget things. On the casting lessons, recently had a lesson with Glynn from Anglers Den, best thing i have done, i have gone from struggling to get to 75m to being able to reach 110-120 easily with a lot less effort.

60lb straight through with 10-25lb snood. No horrible shock leader knots stop using multi nearly 2 years now braid fixed spool (pair zippy M4-GT with pair Shimano Ultegra CI4)all day long for me casting distance probably the same maybe more because I’ve not got to worry about bird nest.

Hi Matt, thanks for the great video. I’m looking for rod/reel advice for targeting pollock and other species off rock marks. What’s the best setup? I have a 10ft spin rod 20-60g (which is maybe a bit too flexible), 5000 reel with 29lb braid however I’m struggling to cast well/accurately since using this new setup.
@SaltwaterAngler
@SaltwaterAngler 8 месяцев назад
Sorry for the late reply. A lot depends on the tidal flow in your area as some rock marks require a heavier set up than here in Sussex. You loose the subtlety of a quality Lure rod at a certain point as you may need 2oz weighted lures ? So really depends where you are fishing.

Great video content as always. I was wondering whether there are any ways, eg websites to check the water clarity before heading off on a long journey to fish lures? Obviously I'm a bit of a novice but I'm trying 😂

Tip 9 don’t think you mention it when fishing the big tides when tides go right back look for the gullies where the fish feed and structure of the beach for future fishing trips specially the surf beaches
